  1. Some lame acting in 1 part, and it's a replica but still a cool car. Bueller.
  2. The Jewel in the crown is the Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder
  3. Hi guys, I bought this as I needed a passenger side rail for my FD RX-7, so the seat itself is surplus to my needs. Rail is shown in photo but isn't included in sale. The seat is the last of the FD style seats series 8 version 6. It has that cross-hatch pattern on the center of the seat. I quite like this style of seat. Condition is good, small damage to the recline function knob (for rear passengers in a 2+2), could use a dry clean as there is a couple of dirt marks / stain marks and the seat belt strap / retainer is in really good shape, not even UV damaged like most of them. This is the best thing about the seats as you don't have to fish for your seat belt. For comparison here is the series 6 version 3 seats that came out of my FD originally, I sold them to Tai (RetroZ) and here is a photo of them in his S30z. He told me Price: $100 It's located in Sydney, but there is a small possibility I could bring it to Melbourne, but would rather not lug it all the way to Melb for Christmas....
  4. +1 have a great Christmas and stay safe over the break.
  5. You have a knack for finding hidden gems like these. I admit I'm a little jealous. Nice to find something you can enjoy immediately. I think the white 240z would look even better with the OEM light covers with Chrome trim. I've never been a fan of the aftermarket with rubber trim items. Are those the original plates on it?
  6. Speaking with Steve at http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/ it appears he may have a faceplate to copy from, but the bigger problem is the fact that they all seed to have a slight bow in them. To me this is fine, especially if it's not obvious once installed.
  7. Sounds good, so have you confirmed what the issue was? Or do you think it was a combination of stuff?
  8. 240k coupe in Sydney for sale. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50619-1974-datsun-240k-coupe-for-sale-c110-gtr-parts-as-well/ Looks hot! $15k - $20K depending on parts that come with it.
  9. Hi guys, So I've spoken with the guy who runs. http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/ - I was asking about getting a faceplate made for the early Hitachi Radios TM-1081ZA or TM-1081ZB(S). Basically before we can produce that piece we need a good template/original to copy it from. So I'm posting a wanted ad, to see if someone has a good faceplate we can use to make copies of it. I'll keep a look out myself but I figure maybe someone would like to get a reproduction for themselves also as a spare or perhaps the Chrome has lost it's shine and you want a new 1 for yourself? I know there was a radio on eBay not that long ago, but can't find it now.
  10. A mate of mine is a camera man and he spends his spare time looking through archival footage and often converting it to digital and posting it on Youtube these days. He has so far found lots of old car commercials and other fun stuff. He told me he found a clip of a 240z doing a rally and he recently posted it on Youtube here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrY9wv3OlfE Anyone know a South Australian by the name of David Luvel? Sorry probably spelt that wrong. Also here is another clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC4h0XfRq0M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL_hrEQ4Fss This time Banana Farmer, Wayne Hoy and Barry Smith in a red 240z.
  11. I have an original AC compressor and bracket in storage. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13725.msg144615.html#msg144615

    Weird miss

Threads merged, try to keep it all in 1 thread rather than multiple threads.
  13. Seems to be verified by the photos here also: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15328.0.html
  14. Great car, good score and that radio helps answer my query here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=15205.new;topicseen#new Looks like we only got that style of hitachi head unit in our market.

So maybe an electrical component that overheats when the car is warm? There is a capacitor on the side of the points distributor? Maybe heat it up with a heat gun when the car is cold and see if the miss-fire is there? Or alternatively it could be a dud coil? Again maybe a heat gun would help verify? Even if they're new it could be faulty.

What distributor are you running? Still running points? If the distributor shaft is worn out, then you'll get excessive play and that can result in ignition issues like this.
  17. It's called Boutique/Artisan Beer mate. But I agree e-go is probably the best courier for this sort of thing.

    Weird miss

My L28 with twin SU's, E88 head, cam, (10:1 compression or possibly higher!), exhaust etc.. feels the same. It doesn't miss, but it seems to feel a little flat after 5.5k rpm. The last owner of my car had a set of Triple Dellorto's on it, he had put the SUs back on when selling it. I remember when we drove it (test drive) he said it felt a little flat. It has always felt a bit that way, even after I rebuild and recurved the distributor, and tuned the SUs and put the correct oil in the dashpots etc.. I suspect when the previous owner of my car put the SUs on and they were jetted for the L24 displacement and not the bigger L28 - hence it gets lean and starts to run out of puff higher in the RPM range. Has plenty of low down torque and so forth. I would like to try richer needles in my car and might run a rebuild kit through them (the SUs), may also re-bush the throttle shafts if I detect any play in them which causes vacuum leaks and makes them impossible to tune up. How to rebush is demo'd here. What I would like to know however is what these roller bearings are? From here: http://www.ztherapy.com/products/SUReman.htm I suspect your problem may be a flat spot and it would be worth going over your SUs to see what shape they're in.
  19. Why do you say the bonnet isn't correct? Seems correct for that year to me. Looks like a great example, whatever you paid was cheap compared to the cost of restoring 1 to that level. Good colour combo the biscuit and green combo.
  20. Welcome, the 2+2 is an underrated vehicle in Australia. Perhaps globally? I think there isn't many left now. We probably have the majority of the remaining supply if I took a guess.
  21. For posterity here is an image of it. I'm not a fan of letting it rot outside, but perhaps he's a reasonable guy. Looking for a reasonable price?
  22. Yep that's the only radio type I've seen fitted to an Aussie delivered 240z. Have you since removed it?
  23. To further add evidence that perhaps the Japanese Market received a different Hitachi Radio than our market you can see the October 1969 Launch photos here. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33633-24th-october-1969-the-s30-series-z-public-debut/?p=298350 You can see this photo here shows the antenna switch isn't on the far right hand side. A bit further down the same page you see the Fairlady brochure. (which has a Rally Clock in it (2 knobs)) As a side note and because the photos reminded me. I mentioned in my steering wheel refurb thread the differences I've seen in wood-grain on the Fairlady Z steering wheels. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14508.msg153951.html#msg153951 Here is another photo I have of a Fairlady Z that was for sale recently on eBay in North America. Note: The colour of the wood grain on this wheel is very interesting. Coming back to the radio though, I'd love to hear from an S30z owner with a 71, 72 or 73 240z that still has the original radio to see what faceplate they had? My current suspicion is that we got the same hitachi radio (with the right hand switch radio antenna) through all years of our market cars and never saw the other head units. Which if true will be a bummer as they seem to be hard to find replacement faceplates for.
  24. Showed up in my eBay alerts today and 21 bids. This will be interesting...
  25. That looks like a good little unit and quite original too!
