  1. So a quick Google Search. http://www.aussiev8.com.au/members-lounge/28804-good-bumper-bar-straighteners-re-chromers-victoria.html I found a thread here: http://www.aussiev8.com.au/members-lounge/28804-good-bumper-bar-straighteners-re-chromers-victoria.html and it seems that there is 3 places that come recommended in Victoria. Seaford http://www.yellowpages.com.au/vic/seaford/klouis-bumper-repairs-12812016-listing.html Modern Plating in Oakleigh http://www.modernplating.com.au/contact.html Vinney's in Dandenong http://www.vinneys.com.au/index.html https://www.facebook.com/AAVinneys
  2. Yeah I'm not sure where the other reproduction unit was from. I can ask the owner when I get a chance. With the Aussie Muscle Car parts bumper would I be correct in assuming there is no provisions for the rubber strips or overriders? http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/webshop/index.php/datsun/240-260z/datsun-240z-70-73-bumper-rear-chrome.html I'm not sure what restoring the original OEM would cost but I'm guessing a re-chrome alone would be at least $300. Which makes this seem like good value, although I kinda like the rubber trim pieces. I know the 432-R went naked but it kinda looks a bit naked without in my opinion. I'm also a bit partial to the overriders too! Seems it was something our market got more so than other markets.
  3. Is it even accurate to describe the CSP311 Silvia as a 'Fairlady Coupe' though? It was based on the same chassis but I don't think it was ever intended to be a Fairlady. From WikiPedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Silvia * Don't mention the war! Since Wikipedia mentions ZEE German, I'm not sure how much more we can trust about that snippet of info.
  4. Only problem I have with the reproduction stuff is that the last 1 I saw was actually quite flimsy, in that you could twist it with your hand. It wasn't solid like the OEM stuff. I'm not sure if that's the case with all of the repro units but I was a little unimpressed to be honest. The chrome didn't seem that good either. I'm also convinced that if I got the Autosol out and steel wool I could clean mine up quite good.
  5. If you're driving it home from Canberra, don't be surprised if people ask you how much you'd sell it for along the way.
  6. Thanks mate, I may not need to fit for RWC at this stage. Although I kinda want to refit it anyway, but I'll get it re-chromed. I'll update thread if I can't find appropriate size bolts to fit the bumper. I was told that rare spares Holden hardware might be same same or similar enough to work.
  7. Thanks I've already booked in at a local shop. Price wise should be close to that anyway.
  8. I would have to agree, although it's not that I don't appreciate the sharing of this information and scan from whatever source it is. The Silvia coupe must have had more than 27 units produced. The figures I've heard about 'exported' numbers to Australia was around 40-50 units arrived here. Not sure if that included other Pacific Islands (as it would appear at least 1 or 2 made their way there but could have been private imports).
  9. I'll bet $5 it isn't a 74. No such thing. It is a 73. As Mr Camo said what is on the plate in the door jamb? If it has a chassis number starting in HLS30 it is a 240z and only ran up until 73. If it is RLS30 it is a 260z and started in 74 . North America only got 260z for 1 year. 75 saw 280z with those bloody big bumpers and fuel injection.
  10. Ask George, what are friends for after all
  11. Those must be global figures but how accurate I'm not sure? The majority of s30z's would have gone to North America. Still compared to many of the muscle cars produced the s30 could be considered low production. The roadsters were very limited numbers wise. What does a 64 Fairlady Roadster Coupe look like? The non exported version? Also what book is it from and is it counting domestic market cars also?
  12. Ok so found my old rear bumper. Looking for fasteners etc.. So can anyone recommend a good place in Victoria that can re chrome a bumper and perhaps straighten out a couple of dings with it? Don't have a hammer and dolly handy at the moment.
  13. If you decide to separate the rear wing from the hatch let me know? Is it a 4 point mounted rear wing? Looks like it.
  14. Thanks for the feedback Peter. Shouldn't be an issue on 45 CH plates.
  15. Looks like I should be able to get The Bridgestone RE002 in the same size as the Dunlop's that were on the car for around $150 each. Booked in tomorrow at a local tyre shop.
  16. I just went out to the car and the current tyres on it are: 205/60 R15 - Dunlop Formula W-1 Spec R Looks like they have discontinued them in that size anyway.
  17. Because they look cool My Suzuki Jimny is a 2009 model, still has rear drums. Not even finned!
  18. Never driven a C10 either, but the L-GATA is 1 of (if not) my favorite engines of all time. Welcome and good luck with your search. A 20K budget should be able to buy you a rolling restoration, i.e a car that needs work but can be driven and enjoyed but isn't perfect and may need some minor rust repairs. If you get lucky you might be able to score 1 of the bargains that pops up from time to time, but you gotta be in there like swimwear .
  19. Hi Guys, Need a pair of rear tyres for my 240z but going to replace all 4 since they have been on the car for 14 years now! Are there any recommendations for a decent set of tyres in that size? If someone has a good set of second hand tyres with minimal wear I'm open to suggestion also? The car is currently street driven only, looking for good quality but probably don't want to spend $400 per corner. Unless you can convince me I should? Finally any good tyre shops in Melbourne who won't fubar my wheels fitting new tyres?

    WTB L28 Headbolts

I've got a set you can have for free from the L28 out of my gold car, but I wouldn't use second hand ones myself. Cheap insurance getting new ones.
  21. Or looking to borrow a rear bar just to pass RWC. I think 2+2 bars can be fitted but are a little wide. However for the purpose of RWC I don't mind. Really just need all the bumper fitting hardware like brackets and bolts as some of mine are missing on my old bumper.
  22. I might start a thread, but each club may have it's own rules etc.. I did ask the NDSOC a while back and it was all a bit too hard basket. As in minimum req. number of club meetings to attend etc.. Since I'm in Sydney it's not possible for me to attend. So for now I've joined the Nissan Car Club of Australia. (Cost $50 for single) http://www.nissancarclub.org.au/Content/?c=45 Spoke to Aiden Peart, he said he can inspect the vehicle for safety and then sign off on it and along with your application form here (which he also has to sign): https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/media/files/formsandpublications/registration/club_permit_application.ashx?la=en I told him I'm already getting it inspected by an authorised vic roads workshop (although they may be authorised they are slightly callous with your property based on this thread ). He said that's fine, and if I get a Road Worthy Cert via them then I can post it to him along with the application and he can sign it and post it back. But I'll probably drop into his workshop if I have the paperwork ready which is Robert Cooper Motors. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Robert+Cooper+Motors to save on postage time and so I can go direct from there to VicRoads to get my CH plates. FYI: Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares has apparently set up a club with a few other mates and can help with CH plates also. He told me a while back he had a few friends with old rotaries etc.. and they wanted to get their cars on CH plates. But I didn't think he had it organised yet.
  23. I really only need 1 as a temporary measure for road worthy, although I don't think it's strictly needed (I passed last time without it) I do want to refit 1 anyway for the minimal protection it offers. But I need to get it on before the end of next week...
  24. First I've heard of this.... Seems like it might have quite a bit more rust than what it appears...
