  2. When and where did you see that on eBay? Was it in Australia or US?
  3. None of the ZX gauges work in an S30Z. However the clock can be removed and modified to fit in a 260z clock housing. This is how Ron restores early car clocks (in most cases) he converts to Quartz using these as donors, but they are getting harder and harder to find now.
  4. I haven't tried to fit mine yet, but even the OEM ones need a bit of a stretch to get into the holes. So we shall see.
  5. I still can't believe nobody has bought this. S30Z Rally Clock (Twin Knob) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-Fairlady-Z-JDM-S30-Jeco-Rally-Clock/322798171102 US $1,000.00 Buy it now. I've invested far more in restoring mine... this is a great price.
  6. 280zx Quartz clock. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253186098984?ul_noapp=true
  7. What kind of items were you thinking of ordering? Large items or lots of small detail items?

  9. Sounds like your auto box needs a rebuild, the remedy is to remove it and replace with a manual conversion. Could be your transmission has an oil leak too! Probably why it's stuffed and perhaps topped up with oil when sold.. All North American S30Z's have red turn signals and in fact even their modern cars like new Mustang's etc.. still have red turn signals. Should be able to find some 260z ones here relatively easily and the amber improves the rear end look too!
  10. Fixed broken photobucket image links
  11. Just saw this and found it appropriate to attach here. From a video of a nice looking Safari Gold 240z in Dubai.
  12. What? That kind of thing never happens...
  13. Do you need an early (vented 1) or later non-vented type?
  14. I would have used a small washer to hook into (sorry I edited my post after I wrote it to include that so you may have missed it). You're correct that you could over pull the dent with a slide hammer if you got carried away. My slide hammer has a lot of weight in it, so just gentle taps would do a lot of work. If you happen to over pull you could tap down with a hammer but you're working the metal a lot, and as you found out the metal is quite thin (when you blew through it with the Mig) so you need to be careful how much you work it. RE: My bonnet, you have also spend significantly less time on your bonnet than I have on mine and I'm still not happy with mine.
  15. Well done, just goes to show that with a little more time spent you could do a significantly better job as an amatuer on that bonnet than most lazy bog and flog shops. Your tool was a good idea, I've also thought of using a regular slide hammer and welding on small nails. I like a slide hammer because it is literally the same as an easy beat. You could also use small washers and then you have something to 'hook' into.
  16. 280Z (not ZX) tanks are sort after in the US for fuel injection conversions. But the 280z has a different tyre well to a earlier car so might make it difficult to fit a tank designed for a more accommodative spare wheel area.
  17. I was going to say their depot is right near where you bought the car! Nothing wrong with a LHD car, especially considering price differences, although that seems to be changing lately.
  18. Only problem with some spot welders (as I've discovered) is the jaw area may not allow you to spot certain section. Eg: Bonnet skin and frame, I could not get the spot welder in between the folds to use it. So had to mig it. But they are well worth having, I plan to use 1 when I replace my roof turret!
  19. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58582-series-1-240z-steering-wheel/ Early 240z steering wheel. Cheap at $150 USD.
  20. It's a 1 person job if you have a engine crane..and you have the OEM hooks on the engine to help pull it out. Didn't even have to ask the Cheese and Kisses for help!
  21. I hadn't seen this bonnet work until now, I know how much of a pain in the butt it is to repair this panel. So hats off to using a mig of all welding types for that vent hole! I know you spent a lot of time on it, but geez it's tough to find a good bonnet for these cars now! I like your profile tool, what's it called? I made a profile using sheet metal - I should take a photo and post it here for comparison.
  22. haha, yep certainly taking it down to it's bare bones..hope you like plug welding?
  23. HS30-H (Fairlady 240ZG's) have already exceeded this along with PS30's. You don't want to know what a PS30-SB (Z432-R) changed hands for not long ago. Not quite Toyota 2000GT money but getting there.. HS30 00675 is for sale in the UK after restoration and is asking 6 figures.. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/datsun/240z/datsun-240z-1971/7296647 A few have changed hands at these kind of prices, but not often in the public eye.
  24. Check this early Fairlady Z for sale out. (L20A motor) https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b276347158 Buy it now: 9,000,000 yen (~ $106k AUD). Oct 1970 build date? (from translation). I believe this is a Fairlady Z-S ( as it has a 4 speed box). No interior photos makes it hard to determine if a rally clock, foot rest etc.. exist in the car. I suspect not.
