What gives you that impression? HS30-100011 was an HS30-H (Fairlady 240ZG). https://goo.gl/photos/KByRfi3z6Brmgs1d8 The other closest car I have is: HS30-100054 but that's an AU spec car.

Sadly I no longer have a 260z faceplate otherwise I'd do it. I have a feeling it's the same as a 240z 1 just upside down (inverted).

I actually prefer the look of Special3p's engine bay, I can't stand those K&N filters. The OEM airbox is superior and looks 100x better.

I see, well a 74 model 260z had no canister as far as I recall. Example of a 74 260z 2+2 here with no canister in the engine bay. https://photos.app.goo.gl/yOt9AKZ4yXPkI2ti1 My 75 model 260z 2+2 had it though, but it was never hooked up (running British SU's - HS6's) but I never had an issue getting a roadworthy despite a plethora of hoses going to nowhere! I would say you'd be unlucky to get pulled up on it. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-purpose-of-a-charcoal-canister Perhaps someone with a stock looking engine bay could help post a photo of how the canister is plumbed up?

Given you have a 77 model 260z and not a 74 model 260z you may find "dodging emissions" a little more difficult. Having said that I'd be surprised. Was the Holley carb connected up to the carbon canister in any way?

That's indeed cheating... But the charm of AM is listening to AM https://youtu.be/FVLNK1-Si0E?t=1m11s

I only need to sell 100,000 and I've made $1M at $10 each lol.. As to what happened to all the originals? I assume replaced with some tacky Autotecnica knob from autobahn

Member SpecialP3 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/user/101180-specialp3/ Has 1 of the best engine bay's going around for an AU market car. The problem with looking at North American cars is that they had additional emissions equipment (on their 240z's) that we didn't get. Refer to album images here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/gallery/member/101180-specialp3/

3. is for fuel vapour (it's a breather for the fuel float chamber) that goes into the orange airbox (which you're missing). Distributor advance connects to the left hand carb body (just in front of where the SU mounts to the insulator part of the manifold). You also appear to be missing your fuel rail. The Carbon Canister won't be used with these SU's since there is no emissions set up on the 240z's (AU market). Like there is with 260z's.

Thanks and I agree the red could be closer to the original. I will send the original button to the maker to see if they can get a closer match.

Oh this looks interesting, will need to watch it when I get back from work tonight.

On the weekend I bought more garage shelving to store stuff. Removed the old work bench as it's in the way and too wide and plan to buy a tool chest from Bunnings with a work bench on top that can store all my tools and roll out of the workshop when needed. For ages I avoided spending money on this stuff but it has got to the stage I spend ages trying to find my tools now. Tonight I'm trying to cook my Hitachi SUs in a ultrasonic cleaner using dish soap. Not sure how it will turn out yet. I'll try truck wash on the weekend if it doesn't work well. Still a bit of an experiment. *Edit have some before and after pics, bearing in mind I didn't disassemble these or remove the oil from the dashpots (forgot about those lol). The magic degreaser! and after they have come out... It hasn't removed the harder baked on stuff, that needs some mechanical action or longer (It was in an hour in total 2x30min sessions) and there is various stains on the metal that don't come out. The gold passivate plating looks loads better (not seen so much in photos). I imagine fully disassembled and using carb cleaner or another better cleaning agent would be far more effective. Vapor blasting is probably superior in many ways, but this is good for cleaning small items at home and getting grease / crud off them. The domes on the SUs have some light scratches etc.. and I'd love to retain the factory fresh look but it is also tempting to polish them.

Well I just ordered some parts for my FD RX-7 earlier in the week and Mazda is telling me there is a month wait! When people balk at prices of restored S30Z's and throw out some number as to what it would cost to restore such a car, they are ignoring all the nitty gritty details of a restoration, that is time, time spent ordering fiddly little bits and sourcing parts and fixing / restoring them, delays because something isn't ready or done or simply NLA etc.. Something to be said for buying a car already restored. My point is restoring cars such as these takes patience and to be honest if Warren takes his time (because this is a part time gig) I think that's ok. So long as you do get your parts in the end that is.

Another HS30? In Scotland? £15,000.00 https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-vehicles/datsun-240z-barn-find/1287616814

It didn't start in good condition (it actually got panel beating and heat shrinking lol). before. Nice brakes, but won't fit under my steelies!

Agree when I imported my RX-7 I was asked what colour plates I wanted. I said anything but the NSW yellow and black... I asked for black with white letters. Due to a compliance shop mix up I got, wait for it.. Yellow with black. I looked at changing them but refuse to pay the fee for a new set. I hate them on the car but it will eventually be eligible for historic plates (2 more years!) then I don't care.

Not today, but the other day.. I painted my undertray in a grey-ish colour. It's a little bit too reflective (glossy) but I actually think will look fine once fitted and I'm still not 100% sure on the OEM finish anyway. This will go on my 72 240z I think.
