Every day I have to delete about 5 new accounts. I try to block their IP address too, but these spammers are clever in that they just use a different proxy server to appear as a different IP. I do find that certain IP addresses though have repeat offenders. 2. Thanks Nzeder for the suggested extensions. Unfortunately many of which are not that effective or make it harder to update the forum. I'll have a look and see what is available but many use CAPTCHA's that can easily be bypassed. Heck sometimes they actually pay "HUMANS" in places like India to spend all day circumventing these things. I put in a challenge question on registration for the site. The question is "Are you human?" Most of the time spammers don't change this value and I just delete the account. However I've seen several legitimate members sign up and get this question wrong. 3. These spammers simply want to post a link. It's their way of trying to influence search engines. Hit 10,000 different forums and they might show up under searches for Viagra and Penis and maybe if they are lucky Ben too! 4. Replying to spam posts does nothing other than help promote these posts. Best thing to do is use report to moderator link. 5. Yes I was asleep and I got several PM's. I'll review moderator rights in terms of deleting user accounts. 6. Yes it sucks! I hate wasting my team cleaning up this mess when I could be using that time for better things. 7. Craig unfortunately whilst I'd love to get my hands on these "sharp objects" myself, finding them would be rather difficult as their email address is often fake / spam to begin with. Their IP address is routed through several different places making determining their actual location a problem. Quote
