FLEXZED Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 749HP!!!! What sort of driveline/chasis mods do you have in mind to handle all that mumbo? Hey Gareth, gearbox will be a rb25, diff dont know yet looking at different options, there are pics on the body mods a few pages back,eg 75 x 30 x3mm sq tube running from front rails to rear, half cage, all seam welded and rails strengthened Loui Quote

FLEXZED Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 It'll be insane. I'd suggest plastic covered seats cause passengers will s#@t themselves that and ear plugs so i dont hear them scream Loui Quote
Veloce Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 RB25 box? Are you for reals? I was more thinking along the lines of a Hewland 6 speed dog box Quote
C.A.R. Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 More like a 2-speed Powerglide and a transbrake... Quote
peter mc Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 don't panic kids that power was at 25 psi you don't drive around town like that 300 kw for town and tern it up for the track Quote
Agno Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 RB34? Pete, if you don't mind divulging your magic how are you increasing the RB30 displacement and what is in this motor exactly? Quote
peter mc Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 yer its a Rb30 with custom 95mm stroke crank and custom rod and 87mm pistons ,there is some work to the block to make it all fit . we also modify the main tunnel for better oiling ,and i mod the oil return side of things as Rb have problems with this . it will run a nitto oil pump and oil restrictors in the block and custom sump to round up the oil system Quote
luvemfast Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Sounds like its going to be impressive and a great project to watch Quote
NZeder Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 RB34 - hmm nice - if I every finish my car I one day plan to replace the Rb25/26 NA setup with a RB34 in NA form Loui that is going to a beast Quote
FLEXZED Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Loui that is going to a beast thanks mate, i am really looking forward to the build and then to drive it should be fun, my plan is to take it for 1 run down eastern creek and if i get 10.5 and lower that will be it NO MORE DRAG if not then we will try until it does it Quote
Sirpent Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Loui Reminds me about that discussion we had, Would be nice to have a drag, hill climb, and track weekend sometime in the future. Quote
FLEXZED Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Loui Reminds me about that discussion we had, Would be nice to have a drag, hill climb, and track weekend sometime in the future. once the car is done thats the order that i will be doing Quote
zedevan Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 what head's going to be used? seems like people generally use NEO rb25's for this? I'd be rather interested to know what you're planning to do for the mounts/wiring/intercooler/exhaust/fuel - PMC fabrications? Are early 260z's closer to 240z's in terms of their gearbox mounts and electronics? Quote
FLEXZED Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Hey Mate The head will be a pmc worked Rb 30 head Mounts i have from a previous rb30 The rest i am not sure about yet but Peter Mac will be helping me out on that My 260z is actually a 240z shell with all the 260z gear on it Loui Quote
luvemfast Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Why are you staying with the RB30 head? I would have thought that you'd be going the twin cam too. I'm assuming you have your reasons :-\ Quote
peter mc Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 mmm the Rb30 head not as good as the rest ,,, but with lots of work bigger valves and adjustable rockers and solid lifter conversion it will be a monster turbo head and if you look at the top 10 drag Rb30s you will see that there very popular .. , it will run a 6boost turbo manifold and a custom intake manifold injectors will be id 1000 cc and i will make a fuel rail for it Quote
Agno Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Single cam heads are good enough. I know of at least 2 cars that have had a very similar single cam build to this minus the stroker and one has run a 10.09 down the quarter on pump fuel and in street trim and the other 9.4 on race fuel. EDIT: Forgot to add these were R31s... There are also quite a few VLs going quicker again Quote
