FLEXZED Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 hi all just purchased this car from Adelaide flew over on saturday and paid $2500 and drove it back to sydney story so far gearbox sh#t itself about 3 hrs out of the city so my son and i drove the car back to sydney in 2nd gear doing between 70-80 km/h it was a hard long drive, fuel gauge was faulty, wipers didnt work(and of course it rain heavly)no radio. car has a bloody hole in the roof which will be the first thing to go, rust in a few places eg beaver panel , sills and floor, amazingly no rust under the battery (george can verify) plan at this stage is to get a new box for it and drive it around for a while. will eventually do a full rebuild but like to enjoy driving it for a few months not sure what the overall build will be but leaning towards a rb motor and box, bright orange paint, black ZG flares and black rota rb wheels i would like to thank george, peter , mike for caming over tonight and discusssing a few items about the car heres some pics Quote
Surly_Z Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 That's a good price! Enjoy the resto. Im all for brightly coloured z's but i kinda like it's colour atm - is it a bluey/green? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 31, 2009 Administrators Posted August 31, 2009 What kind of carby is that? Good buy Looks like a 240K downdraft carb or similar. Probably not doing the car any justice in the performance department. Hope those seats are going the way of the Dodo . Nice car and good honest price for what it is. I'd also recommend fixing mechanical stuff first and body last. At least you can drive it around for a while. Quote

FLEXZED Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 hey all just had the car up on the hoist and had a look for any rust, had 3 spots about 50 mm x 100 mm long thats all i can see now loui Quote
FLEXZED Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 hi all Took car to a mate workshop with a hoist, removed the infamous 2 gear only gearbox and have installed a new clutch and 2nd hand box So should have it back on the road by tomorrow then i have all weekend to work on it and tidy same things up and start getting a list of "WHAT IS NEEDED" Loui Quote
FLEXZED Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 hey everyone spent most of this weekend cleaning the car up and let me tell you what its come up really clean compaired to what is was. first thing to go was all that wiring, can honestly say my son and i removed about 100 metres of the stuff from the engine bay and stereo . my son also fixed the dodgy fuel return line and a few other lines that were not capped properly came out much cleaner and very tidy. cleaned the interor a little bit fixed the shifter and wipers although they dont return to the bottom of the windscreen when they are switched off. anyone know why finally hit the block and head with the high pressure cleaner and some degreaser. LOOKS VERY SHMICK time for the all important pictures (only the engine bay for now) before: after: Quote
FLEXZED Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 nice. where'd you get the box from? got the box and a L28 efi motor from ummm someone on the forum ( cant remember the name ) at least i can go in reverse now Loui Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 6, 2009 Moderators Posted September 6, 2009 Huge improvement! That's how a zed engine bay should be; clear and uncluttered..Nothing pisses me off more than dodgey wiring especially if it's unnecessary. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 6, 2009 Moderators Posted September 6, 2009 Just noticed you still have that 280ZX oil filter adapter thingy installed.. You can remove it if you want..it's only there to clear the steering components on a 280ZX. Quote
FLEXZED Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 thanks dimitri BUT how do i do it, do i need a new adpator etc and where do i get it motor is temp at the moment thinking of going rb30/26 eventually and a gearbox to suite Loui Quote

S30Mike Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Just noticed you still have that 280ZX oil filter adapter thingy installed.. You can remove it if you want..it's only there to clear the steering components on a 280ZX. Yeah i was going to question what was going on with that oil filter angle.. Quote
