  1. Yep - that's me!
  2. Hey everyone - I've been a long time member of this site, but haven't been active for many years I still have my Z and drive her most weekends, but haven't had a lot of spare time for Car Club activities. I recently had a bunch of old super 8mm films developed and telecined, and come across two rolls that I shot at the Aus Z car meet in Thredbo in 2009. (http://www.viczcar.com/topics/auszcar-thredbo-trip-review-feb-2009) It was the first time I'd used super 8, so I wasn't sure what the results would be like - turns out not too bad! A few underexposed shots here and there + shaky handheld - all part of the charm! It was good to see some old Z captured on "period accurate" film. I can recognise a few faces - Simon, Chris and Miika from ACT. Sulio & Craig as well? Anyway, I'll leave these here:
  3. I know it's been over a year since this thread was posted, but...... The answer is $238,191 http://www.j-spec.com.au/dealer/1974-Nissan-Fairlady_Z-6088717.html
  4. Sorry guys, I've been rostered on this weekend so I won't be able to make it.
  5. The rust doesn't seem that bad! Still a pain, but you should get a smile knowing you aren't up for a complete strip down and repaint!
  6. If I'm not working, I'll come for a spin - hopefully donning the new club plates!
  7. PM Sent
  8. Awesome, I'll let you know. I need to get a rwc, and my driver's side one broke! Knowing 120Y's were the same broadens the ebay search! Thanks
  9. Anyone have a spare set they are willing to part with? If not, does anyone have information on which cranks were interchangable betwen Datsun models?
  10. I'm in the process now of joining NDSOC to get my car on CH plates. I admit, I don't want to do track days, or sprints etc but I am interested in BBQ's and the odd casual meet. I don't think that should rule me out of membership, unless they change purely to a 'track' club? I rarely drive my car as I'm in Brunswick and near everything! I use my car maybe twice a month, so paying full rego for "freedom" is not ideal - so CH makes sense to me! The argument for 'cheap' rego is a little silly, as not every Tom, Dick and Harry are out there buying Z's (or any other old Datsun) and joining NDSOC so they can save $500-$600 on rego. How much have you guys spent on restoration, maintenance and keeping your car roadworthy - more than $600 I'd imagine. Doesn't that then rule out this idea that there are scammers out there buying old Datsuns just for cheap rego? There's obviously some kind of commitment and passion to get a Datsun to roadworthy status - either through funding their own restoration, or spending $$ on one in decent condition.
  11. Maybe take a deposit, even as much as 50% - that way you recover a little bit of your costs. Then it means you could sell these unclaimed parts at a small discount to forum members! The workmanship looks top-notch, I'm sure you'll get a fair amount of business here!
  12. I'll have a crack tomorrow, thanks!
  13. Managed to get one of them in, unfortunately the second one has rusted and bald screws meaning I cant unmount the headlight! 40 litres of WD40 later, and nothing. What's the best way to go about this?!
  14. Is there any re-wiring that needs to be done for the H4 conversion?
  15. I have to replace the 'candle lit' headlights and the rusty rim/mounts for my rwc - just wondering where is a good place to start looking? Is it worth a trip to repco, supercheap etc or should I be contacting Z Factory etc? (Not looking to upgrade at the moment, so no HIDs or anything that needs rewiring) Thanks
  16. I totally want one!
  17. It's a shame really, as the Z31 was a bold new design both aesthetically and technically (first v6 in a Z). I really think it's an under rated car of the series, and I'm keen to see some historical footage, interviews and reviews from the era - similar treatment that the 240Z get in most documentaries. Oh well, I'll live in hope!
  18. $50 is a start!!
  19. Just wondering if there is a documentary out there of the complete Z car history? I mean incluing the Roadster, Z31, etc etc. I've seen a couple which focus on the 240Z then the current model (350z and 370z) - History channel, top gear, motoman. Surely there should be one including the evolution from the 260z into the 'boxy' eighties - this part always seems to be skipped over!
  20. He doesn't happen to work in the local games industry at all?
  21. Back when I was living in ACT, I took my 240z and Z31 for a RWC to Roger Keft in Queanbeyan. I'm not sure I'd get him to do any work on the car, but for a fairly lenient RWC he's worth a try. I'm sure the Z31 should technically NOT have passed RWC, so I'd recommend him if you're unsure. As for oil leak, I'm sure that the regulation is that after the car has sat for 1 minute after being warmed up, and the oil leak is less than a 50 cent coin then it'll pass RWC. I dunno, maybe someone else in ACT can confirm or correct me on this?!
  22. ....a platinum toy car! http://jalopnik.com/5497460/heres-your-76500-platinum-toy-car I think I'd rather spend $76,000 on a drivable Z to be honest!
  23. Is that a VG30DE? The engine from the Z31 300ZR?
  24. Hey Dimitri, I've decided to finally fit that electronic dizzy from the engine swap. I noticed you had already wired it for me ready to fit, but I guess I have the same question as Pacey - should I swap my coil for Reebok/Bosch or should the existing one be fine? I can't actually figure out which coil I have as the sticker has rubbed off !! Thanks
  25. Video of the same car.
