FLEXZED Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 Hi guys, ive been busy over the last few weeks. Theres afew things that ive done so i go through them one by one. FUEL FILLER... I removed the rust fuel filler panel and fabricated a new piece to replace it. Im moving the fuel filler to behind the number plate like the old holdens. WHEEL WELL... As the exhausts a running on either side of the stock spare wheel well the fuel tank will need to be moved to the centre of the zed. For it to be moved the wheel well has to be removed. So ive fabricted a panel to cover the hole. TAIL LIGHT APRON SUPPORTS... Ive had to move the apron support from the centre to one on either side of where the fuel filler will be. SEAM WELDING... Pretty simple new floor panels are in and the seams have all been welded up by my son. More to come.. Quote
FLEXZED Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 OH i forgot something.. i picked up a matching numbers 240Z. Its stripped and in red-brown primer. No plans for it until the 260 is on the road. Quote
Brabham Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Nice work Loui, I love the old school mags on the 240Z, they look awesome! Are you going high mount turbos on the RB30/26 and will they clear the bonnet? I want to get a 30/26 2 seater zed sometime down the track as well...just need to find room to store more zeds!!! Quote
FLEXZED Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 Ha! Where on earth did you find that Loui? well mate my story is nowhere as good as yours, But was at a wedding in brisbane about a month ago and drove by this old queenslander looked in the driveway and saw it, pulled over knocked on the door and asked if was was for sale and the guys said everything is for sale at the right price, had a beeter look at it and asked him what do you want for it , he said $$$$ i coughed and lit a smoke, scratch my head and offered him $$$$ and he said OK, is a 1973 matching numbers drove up last week with a trailer and picked it up, Loui Quote
Sirpent Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 LMFAO. You just couldnt keep it to yourself could you Bro ! And here I was thinking one day you would just start a new build thread with all the pics from start to end and blow everyone away. No matter, it's a fine find, and between your efforts and Lurches it should inspire people on here to know that there must be more still out there in hiding. Cheers John Quote
Sirpent Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Im an idiot, forgot to say............. Fine work on the twin Loui, very impressive, only 11 months left to the Nationals and I think your ride will impress many. Cheers John Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted May 30, 2010 Moderators Posted May 30, 2010 I loved that "oh, I forgot someting"..hahaha. Its like you found that 240Z between the couch cushions! Excellent score I must say. Quote
FLEXZED Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 thanks dimitri just a quick question i was wondering where else do you guys recommend i should stich weld on the car to strength the body while i have it on the roitisserre Thanks Loui Quote
FLEXZED Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 Hey guys, Been abit busy this weekend . Picked up some 2.5mm 70 x 25 and 70 x 55 box section for the rails under the floor pan. Basically cut everything up then started welding bit by bit going from the back to front to left to right so that the heat wont warp the floor or body . Ive also added about 5kg of welding wire this weekend alone . Have stich welded around the gearbox mount and front strut towers to add some more strength. If the engineer says the body is to weak im going to drive over his head with it and ask him if he wants to rethink that ;D. Pictures: It might very well be overkill. But atleast i know if i get the power bug i can up the power without having to worry about structual strength. Thats all for now, Cheers Loui Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 6, 2010 Moderators Posted June 6, 2010 I think you are one step away from running your zed in Top Doorslammer with that chassis there Loui! All you need is the blown 500ci powerplant and tubs. Quote
FLEXZED Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 hey Dimitri dont tempt me, sitting back having a beer and looking at it now has my mind racing ;) ;) Loui Quote
