step by step, inch by inch, closer and closer to firing this beast up. today I mounted up the fuel pumps and surge tank. tomorrow i will plumb them up ready to run  ;D

I think the bosch o44 will be adequate but i think the carter might have to go, from what i have herd they are rather noisy but i will give it a chance

Hey Mick...I run an 044 on my RB25 installation. It also has a little walbro that feeds the surge tank. It works fine feeding through a 3/8 fuel pipe. I would also recommend isolating the mount for the pumps...I did it to mine (they used to be solid mounted via a mounting plate), and it is a lot quieter with the isolation.

I think the carters have isolation rubbers included but they are still crazy loud.... It's like having a hammer drill under the car and that was with a full interior!  :o

Cheers for the tips guys. It will be sure to be improved apon once I can get it running. Then I will be able to get it to work and up on the hoist to make life easyer.

I have the carter black as a surge pump in my rb 240z and with isolator or not, its very loud and racy!

Im going to try the walbro one next

You don't need big noisy pumps as lift/surge tank pumps lads. Because they are filling the surge tank at no pressure (compared with feeding fuel to the injectors under pressure), you only need a relatively small pump...the inline roller cell or turbine walbro or similar pumps are quiet and do a fine job without all the in-cab noise. I double isolate mine (pump is isolated onto the bracket, and then the bracket is isolated onto the body, (using the rubber bushes that mount the ABS module on the R33 skyline). If you follow that sort of approach, there should be minimal noise in the cabin.

Cheers

There's just something about installing fuel systems, pumps, speedflow fittings and regulators that gets me a little excited. Hope you feel the same. Keep the pics coming.

Yeh I planed on spending most of the day today working on the fuel lines and wiring today. But was set back by a customers 1200 so I ran out of time :(

Very very close now. It should be running by next weekend. Tess there will be a fire up video.

Now some of you may already know about my mishap with my rb20det. One should always check the contents of ones cam covers before placing them back on the engine. The result was a stray bolt locking up my cam gears allowing the belt to jump teeth resulting in bent valves arrrrrggghhh!!!

I am picking up another rb20det tomorrow. I would have liked to go (rb25 but my budget won't allow it right now).

On another note I have been offered a long nose r200 mechanical LSD from an dr30 skyline for $650. Is this a good price? He said it is very good contrition.
