Is that a vinyl roof? :o

Yes it is, dealer fitted probably. When I was looking for an S30z about 15 years ago I found a wine red 260z 2+2 a guy was selling in Brighton from memory. The car drove ok - apart from a hole in the exhaust but what put me off was the vinyl roof. Now though I kinda like it seeing it on this car.

I also like the metallic brown hue, but I'm partial to that colour because a neighbor had a 260z 2+2 in the same shade and it was the first time I recall really taking notice of the S30z's. Everyday I'd come home from school and walk past it in the street and just sort of look at it like "someday" haha. That car didn't have a vinyl roof though.

Anyone else noted the surge in 2+2 prices recently? Is anyone getting these kind of numbers? 2+2s seem to be even getting thinner on the ground these days.

Not many Datsun's around these days in general, 2+2s were always a popular car back in the day. Don't see why they shouldn't get $16-22k for a good example now. Same car just an extra fair-lady hump.

You can fit more junk in that trunk!

Not sure they are still for sale, think there is quite a few stale listings on that website.

I enquired about the yellow 2 seater that he had on that had sold and he said the others were still available. Have asked for more pics but he is hard to get any information from.

Was hopping someone had knowledge of either car.

So, yet again, all that glitters is not gold.

If its the blue one that's advertised for 14.5k, Its mine, i bought it 2 years ago.  Also, That yellow 260z on there he sold way before i even bought my car.

He keeps the old ads up because he has heaps of zeds for sale anyway.

The gold one as Zack told me, "would suit a rally car that you don't care if you write if off" as the body wasn't perfect.

I did see about a month back, the gold car was listed on Ebay, however funny no one ended up posting it here.

By the photo's on the Ebay ad, It was at his mates workshop, the same workshop mine went to get get a blue slip. so he must have been getting ready to sell the gold one.

It was listed at 6k or so, cant remember the exact price, engine bay was original red color, looked quite rusty under there, i know the paint was cracking in a few spots too. Ad got removed so not sure if it sold or not.

This from Chris to one of his friends: "Cheers mate. Lol time to go already have someone keen, driving down your way on Saturday to show them."

Looks so good I'm tempted to sell up mine and buy this instead. Would be so much easier and I could enjoy it now...

Ok ok, i'll comment....

So my overall feel was that the car's bodywork looked good in the photos, but the parts fitted were not really within the zeitgeist I would like to see for an early S30z.

For example why go to so much effort to build a car to that standard and then slap those cheap looking fender mirrors on it. I personally can't stand those mirrors but that's a minor detail. The fender flares we have debated many times over but I think are out of place on an early S30z that is 'restored'. The wheels were too modern for my tastes, I'd prefer something with a bit of history or patina but that just might reflect a change in taste for me personally and be my personal opinion. I'd prefer it to say have Watanabe's in black or some other period wheel.

The carbon bonnet is more of a resto mod thing also, a fiberglass flat black hood would be a better alternative. Hat tip to the 432-R etc..

The blacked out chrome could be forgiven if going for the period race look (like the 432-R) but the front spoiler just somehow makes her look too modern.

The interior looks great from what I can see and it looks like a lot of parts were correctly refurbished.

Of course a lot of these things (the flares excluded) could be reversed relatively easily. I just think an early S30z like this has more appeal if it looks a bit more true to the period.

It is interesting that if the car has sold so quickly that a car like Adam's Brown Hornet took so long to move when I think Adam's car was a better buy and a better price...

Anyone know if this car has a matching engine number?

Yep , would have to agree. Bought some guages from Chris. Nice young fella.

Was nearly finished when I saw it. Complete ground up rebuild , which had taken him five years (so I was told). He works for a panel beater , so no excuses for the body work to not be 100%
