OS Giken super lock LSD

Does anyone have any experience with these, particularly the NS081-HA for R180’s

From what I can gather it’s to suit a later 115mm crown wheel from the K series diffs?

Do they come with the threaded ‘buttons’ to suit the OEM bolt in side flanges for stock half shafts?

I run one in my R200 G-man - it's magic.

No Idea about the R180 unit, but I doubt it'd come with the buttons. But they are easy enough to machine up.

Could I use buttons from a spare open diff?

Are they easy enough to install in the diff centre?

They look good, I’m thinking of fitting a helical S15 centre though haven’t heard to much about them if it’s worth it or not.

You most certainly can and yes they are.

Helical / Torsen are fitted to most late model Nissan's, Subaru's & FWD cars etc. 

They are OK for street use, but no good if you like driving enthusiastically because if you unload an inside wheel,
you end up with an open diff - and that is as Ghey as Gav's man-scarf collection.

So, according to Whitehead performance the “OS Giken NS081-HA” is a ready bolt in option, it contains the threaded buttons for the OEM bolt in splined side flanges.

This is for the R180 115mm diffs to be clear.

Kaaz made a limited run of lsd for r180 K diff about 18 months ago.

call Les or Stew to see if they still have any, they cost a fair bit less.

I’ve already got an OS Giken on the way from Otomotto, $1689 including shipping.

SWM had the Kaaz on the shelf for $1400, he can fit the threaded buttons if you need but I’m not sure if that costs extra. I read a few reviews saying Kaaz LSD’s were noisey, that put me off them a little, not that I’d hear it anyway.

Re the later Nissan helical LSD's, I use them for racing purposes and have had no problems at all but my rear suspensions are set up to suit. No rear anti roll bar, relatively soft springs and damper settings and sufficient droop. There does seem to be a strong school of thought in AU that helicals are no good for real race cars but I've yet to see good reasons for that, a race set up car should not be lifting the inside rear wheel anyway.

My race exhaust just drown out any diff noise

$1689 isn't as bad as I would have thought (was thinking 2.5), let us know how's the install go.

Anyone have experiences with WPC coating parts? Would it be worthwhile getting the diff plates WPC coated before installing?

Never heard of it. Probably snake oil.

Just bolt the OSG LSD centre in G-man and be done with it.

The WPC process is a surface treatment not a coating. It’s the same/similar a shot peening. Good for use in motorsport and or high load applications. Don’t think you would get the diff centre done you may think about the crown wheel and pinion.

Already got the crown wheel and pinion isotropic super finished. Makes for a whisper quiet diff.

 

Ok WPC not required then, let the install begin, thanks chaps!
