RAP260 Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 About to join the chase? More the merrier Damn, I should have shopped around. Good price. Where's that from? Rickers 1 Quote
Rickers Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Of course! Although I'll be using a controller and will probably suck. I haven't used this site before, but it just seems like the same concept as g2a and the like. I received my key instantly. Deluxe AU$ 60.39 Normal AU$ 40.19 OdinZ and RAP260 2 Quote
OdinZ Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 I use cdkeys all the time for Xbox Live subscription, one of the cheapest, and i think i have bought one game from there too. HomeBuiltByJeff 1 Quote
RAP260 Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 C'mon Jeff!!, you're killing me here.... Lol I'm trying to limit my gameplay to an hour a day... Your not helping... Stop it.. Lol Seriously though, very impressed. Even my Potential time was still 0.1 away. Nice job Quote
Cozza Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 That’s fast. Anyone know of a lap record for a real Z round Bathurst. Any configuration but mostly interested in an L series with period mods. Quote
d3c0y Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 One hour a day!? Sweet jesus, wish i had that much free time! Do any of you have going zeds? Quote
RAP260 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Lol... Yep, she runs great . She's basically my daily driver. I won't list the numerous things I need to do though. Quote

Any configuration but mostly interested in an L series with period mods. Good question, Robs 243 kph top speed is attainable by any decent track L series but the lap times you blokes are doing are way in front. I put a lot of that down to tyres, we just don't see the wide wheels that dedicated track cars should have probably because there is no class for that sort of car to race in. Don't forget also that you blokes are doing laps equivalent to a balls to the wall qualifier with a pro driver who knows Bathurst. We need a couple of the gun Victorian racers to show this November, that would be interesting. Quote
RAP260 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) Yea, your balls to the wall statement sums it up, for me. As far as I see it, the major issues when comparing times in a simulation to reality, is the concept of immortality. How much faster would any driver be , if they could simply press reset every time they made a mistake ?. Imagine being able to explore the limits of your car / yourself , with no concerns. And FWIW, Jeff43 is now into the 2:23 range. That's immortality for you Edited April 19, 2018 by RAP260 Quote
HomeBuiltByJeff Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Absolutely. It is easy to push when there are no consequences. I would have died at least 100 times around Bathurst now if I was in a real car. Quote
260DET Posted April 26, 2018 Author Posted April 26, 2018 What we need is someone to build a replica of that Z and see what actual times can be done. C'mon, a project like that would really be something and not a build by numbers one that's no different to a hundred others. The simulator's modest top speed and commensurate acceleration means that grip is what is getting those lap times, basically no aero too. Is it possible in reality? RAP260 1 Quote

d3c0y Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Also who is using the H-pattern gear shifter when they are doing their lap? That would have to slow you down a second or so.... Quote
260DET Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Also who is using the H-pattern gear shifter when they are doing their lap? That would have to slow you down a second or so.... What other shift was there in a S30? Quote
RAP260 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 There also appears to be a manual clutch option, versus auto clutch. I'll have to give it a go, interested to see how it goes. Quote
RAP260 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) Also who is using the H-pattern gear shifter when they are doing their lap? That would have to slow you down a second or so....Absolutely would slow you down d3c0y. I never bought a traditional shifter ( for my current setup) , because it's never suited the cars I've driven. Like most (I assume), I'm using paddle shifters. I had a shifter when I played Grand Prix Legends, but that was many, many years ago Edited April 27, 2018 by RAP260 Quote
HomeBuiltByJeff Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) I only use the paddle shifters as I don't have an H pattern shifter. I have a clutch pedal, but I only use it on initial take off (in races). Then it is just auto clutch the rest of the way. Edited April 27, 2018 by HomeBuiltByJeff Quote
RAP260 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) Yea, I suspect most of us would fall into that category Jeff. It just seems to work best in simulators. On a separate note, regarding the times we are achieving.... I've been racing simulations for over thirty years. And I know that the times we can achieve are ridiculous and unrealistic. If you look at the video I posted, at 1.27. That makes for a fun drive . Seriously, I could do that all day and love it. But the 1.24 I'm currently doing ..... That's stupid. I don't personally find it fun to drive that quickly. I feel I'm not driving a car at those speeds, but simply "playing the game", if that makes sense. And that's why most of us old farts get dusted by kids... Lol. Cheers, Rob Edited April 27, 2018 by RAP260 HomeBuiltByJeff 1 Quote
260DET Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Obviously some of you blokes are limited by the gaming equipment you have but to be realistic obviously the simulated car should be driven using a H shift, manual clutch etc. I've been trying to relate the simulated lap times to those who have done real laps so the info above helps. A H pattern shift will cost a couple of seconds around Bathurst, auto clutch add a second or two as well. Given that we are seeing perfect lap times, which in reality don't exist, it's all starting to be a bit more realistic. Add it all together and the simulator could have a ten second advantage over your average handy amateur driver. HomeBuiltByJeff and RAP260 2 Quote
