The Macca MP4 GT3 on Laguna Seca is my safe place at the moment. I can get that thing around there OK with the wheel now. I guess i should start practising with the Zed on there. What's your PB on Bathurst Richard?

Real or game PB lol?  I have yet to put a complete hot lap together, flat through the Kink has about a 50/50 success rate, the problem is getting the car through smoothly enough to brake for the next corner. I'm still having trouble adapting to the game play, my 280ZX is way sweeter to drive in reality but the times are not that much different.

It's the age old thing of not having any feel doing something that is all about feel. I think the big thing i need to work on is stiffening the front without inducing understeer to stop it loading up on the weight transfer, that or just brake earlier.

FWIW increasing the spring rates at both ends two steps made it a ton more predictable. I did an unofficial 2:33.3XX because i touched the grass :/

The S30 was giving me a complex so I graduated to the 300ZX LM which behaves itself most of the time and it's actually possible to catch it sometimes. Driving Skyline is great fun, plenty of  attitude one way and then the other there, flat through the Kink a couple of times without losing it later. 2:33 is pretty good in that S30 and that's a realistic fast real time too. The LM is almost scary fast on the straights which helps times lot, 2:18.5 out of the box is my best so far.

2:30 is the time to beat. Two people have done laps that fast and one with the stock setup. I wonder if they had all the driver aids on. 

 

Seriously, stiffen up the suspension and back the brakes right off. I can post my setup if you want.

Nah, I'll leave the S30 to you experts but thanks for the offer. The 300ZX is more like my real car too so it's good to get used to the high speed challenge plus don't put the power on out of a corner too soon lesson. I defy anyone to do a 2:30 in that S30 out of the box, it's evil. There is a YouTube video around of a S30 kicking arse but so far the author has not owned up his tweaks.

I was hoping we could get an S30 leaderboard going on here but no one else seems to be biting. I'll do some laps in the 300ZX and post up what i get there for a bit of competition.

I will have a crack when i get a chance. Have only played the game twice since getting it. From what I tried so far the 240 needed some settings adjusted, could never get a clean lap in. To be honest I just need more practice

 

The Porsche GT3 was awesome around bathurst.

 

Who else is playing on PS4 with a wheel?

Mine is a PS4 with a Logitech wheel and pedals, is there any way to get this to shift sequentially? To replicate my real car.

 

Still trying to mesh driving with a monitor to the real thing where I drive (looking) ahead most of the time, still it is good practice but must remember, hitting walls for real has consequences

Gave it a crack in the stock LM. Man that thing has some downforce. Why not use the IMSA GTO? Same weight and power and set up for regular road courses and not Le Mans?

Bastard, my best is 2:16.3, will give the other 300ZX a go in out of the box spec. Of course the pressure is now on you for top times at Bathurst, I'm just a slow old bloke in an auto lol.

Oh and a disclaimer, my simulator time is irrelevant for the real world at Bathurst but I've found the simulator useful and fun for personal preparation.

Out of the box IMSA 300ZX best time 2:14.758, a more relaxed drive which involves backing of in the corners a bit is around 2.25, just shows how important corner speed is at Bathurst. Repeat disclaimer, these times are not real, driving without consequences is not real driving.

The lap above I did in the 240ZR 2:30.759 is my fastest so far. There is more in it.

just had a quick go, with a couple of adjustments got a 2:37, though the handling is diabolical. it power off oversteers everywhere, which at least on a group S Z, they dont do. will spend some time trying to wind that out of it and see how it goes.

I'm in!!! Got PC2 for Xmas, I've had a day or so on it with my old Logitech Momo force wheel. Best so far in the Zed at Bathurst is a 2:31:095. I'm keen to beat your best time d3c0y - I'm not competitive at all - Ha Ha.

I also got an Xbox and a Thrustmaster set up for Christmas (but still waiting for it to arrive in the mail). Then I will be trying to get into the mix as well. If I don't have any running real cars, I can at least drive some simulated ones
