Yes Free and who knows what amazing track-side flag point you will be placed at around the amazing Mount Panorama circuit with seasoned track marshals. If you want to get rally close the the action this is the best way to do it. The field of cars that will be running over the 4 days is amazing Please PM me if you can help Cheers Dave Quote
260DET Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Timing info. For those of us who need myLap (crap) transponders they will be available for hire at the Timing Room which is near garage 36. Quote
dat2kman Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 My-laps? So no decent Natsoft results then, If every entrant brought a passenger, who was prepered to help out for half a day for two days, that'd go a longway to ensuring marshall numbers! Should have it as a condition of entry/reduction in entry fee! Quote
260DET Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Hope there will be plenty of in car video being taken and released for public viewing, no need to buy an overpriced GoPro to get great video so no excuses chaps. I plan on having old faithful camera centrally mounted as usual plus another facing back hopefully getting some good exhaust sound. Then there is a dash mounted GPS digital speedo and the illuminated gear number indicator both of which will be picked up by old faithful. All the GPS speedo needs to operate is a USB adaptor plugged into the cig lighter for the cord. Incidentially I've found video great to observe how a car is handling and how one is driving, it's certainly not about 'I am so fast' nonsense so let's share. Quote
24 Dat Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Hello all, Latest news and entry list info for CB, some amazing cars (lots of Nissan/Datsun's and mot importantly Z's and ZX's) doing both the Super Sprints or Regularity. 260DET Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Last practice at Morgan Park this morning for the Z before the big event. The auto is all sorted at long last, full throttle shifts for gears and the torque converter lock up clutch (TCC) work smoothly and quickly. Trust me to take on pioneering work which takes forever to sort out but it is satisfying at the end and it works for me. The TCC is set up to be manually switched off and on, when on it locks the torque converter and gives in effect direct drive just like a manual box does, it also gives engine braking. I wasn't using it for engine braking at MP today, on the old long circuit it's basically a repetition of go and brake, go and brake, which tends to over heat the big brakes if repeated for more than a couple laps, there is just no time to use engine braking due to the nature of the circuit. Except perhaps at the end of the front straight. Anyway I'm excited and hope that all the Datsun boys attending are able to avoid any serious problems or encounters and of course have a great time. 24 Dat Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Good to hear Richard, i went up last week and heat cycled my new Hankook Z214 and today picked up a new set of Hankooks RS3's for transport and as my wets all 225/50/16, fitted external battery isolation cable, and adding a bit of strength to my rear fibreglass hatch. Spanner check and brake bleed and a few other small things to do over the weekend and then I'll be set. I hope Really looking forward to getting on the road on the 22nd and heading down and catching up with everyone in the days after 260DET 1 Quote
260DET Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Sounds like a plan David, seeing that we are not leaving until Thursday I'll rely on weather forecasts for tyre choices, don't like carrying extra wheels in a SUV. But hopefully my new MP heat cycled Z214's will be good all weekend. Quote
Bonkers Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Best of luck for the event . It is a good thing that both you and Dave are not superstitious. Saying that you have crossed all the T's and doted all the I's for a club motorsport event is just inviting Murphy's law. So be extra safe and come home the same way you went out. Quote
260DET Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks Aub, all we can do is prepare as best we can and X fingers. Quote
24 Dat Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 . Saying that you have crossed all the T's and doted all the I's for a club motorsport i just hope i have crossed them all, there no way in knowing, just nice to be ready a week out from leaving, i know there are a few who aren't, Thanks for the good wishes, i hope all those coming to Bathurst have a safe trip and event, i reckon I'll just try to be safe not extra safe as that tends to slow you down to much Quote
dat2kman Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 You guys are going to be blown away by the quality of the feilds in the various grous. Quite a few are down at Phillip Island, now, getting the cars sorted, and are treating the lap-dash/sprints weekend of this event, as practice and set-up testing for the proper race meets in 2017 The pitlane garages will be busy! Have your cameras ready with plenty of memory space! Quote
peter t Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 All the best and safe motoring to all. Wish I was coming if only to watch the action. Quote
260DET Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Scrutineering. This will take place in our garages "at this time" so I am advised. Quote
1600dave Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 CAMS logbook inspection passed. Paid extra $$$ to CAMS for "express" processing. Now to sit by the letterbox and hope it arrives in time....... Quote
Cozza Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Great news Dave. Have you paid extra $$$ to Aus Post too? ? Quote
24 Dat Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Yeah Great to hear Dave, looking forward to seeing everyone over the weekend, The 3 W.A, Z cars left on Sunday for the epic 3800 km drive to Bathurst, and the majority of the ZCCQ guys and gals leave in the morning, i hope all those travelling there have a safe drive there and back and of course out on the track A couple of shots of the W.A. guys cars somewhere Groundhog 1 Quote
260DET Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hope you camp blokes, err campers, have lots of fun but don't discredit us other more respectable Datsun punters Bugger roughing it, we are staying in a motel, toilet, shower, fridge, microwave, boiling water, who would want all that Quote
1600dave Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 After paying the entry fee, all I could afford was free camping And despite all the bad press CAMS get, they sometimes surprise you. Emailed my CAMS logbook application off yesterday at 4pm, followed up straight away with a phone call explaining why I wanted it urgently, and this morning receive an email saying its done and has been express posted to me ! So, get everything packed and ready tonight, sit by the letterbox tomorrow till the postie arrives, then off to Bathurst. Lucky its only a 4-ish hour trip for me. Quote
260DET Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Weekend weather forecast is for mid 20's temps, some cloud, virtually no chance of rain. Sounds about perfect Quote
PZG302 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) It's Bathurst, so be prepared for snow........ I did a speed weekend up there many years ago in the first weekend of December, Saturday was mountain straight hill climb and Sunday was the chase decent, we had snow on the Friday night from Mt Victoria out to Bathurst and whilst a clear weekend was bitterly cold. Take the wooly jumpers just in case, oh and take your wets so you won't have to use them. If you leave them at home, guaranteed you will need them. Edited November 22, 2016 by PZG302 Quote
