HS30-H Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C857371 Interesting car, already sold. Note the Kobe Seiko wheels.. Not *original* because it was re-bodied into a standard road car 'shell some time ago. Note the (standard) R/H handbrake lever position. On the original Works LHD 'shell it was on the LEFT hand side of the tunnel. Edited to add: Probably best described as some ex-Works parts attached to a modified standard road car with the identity of a Works car. Edited July 2, 2017 by HS30-H gav240z 1 Quote

Original 126,595 miles Sitting for little over 20 years. Sporting its original paint, Body, Interior and all its bells and whistles. All factory stock. No updates or changes. Besides the small little rust spot about the size of the tip of my finger, This 240Z is rust free and solid as you can see in the pictures. The floor pans are untouched. No rust under the doors, The rockers, In the trunk, Or anywhere else. As you can see in the video i uploaded, I removed the wheels and tires, and filmed all the wheel wells and the under carriage to show that there is no rust whatsoever. Door hinges are solid with no sagging. The video i uploaded is very self explanatory, You will hear this 240Z amazing story from its original owner who is pictured above. You will see a cold start up, Shift tests, Hear the motor from top to bottom, and much more that pictures can't compare to. Since it sat for so many years, I had the carburetors rebuilt, Gas tank cleaned, Fuel lines cleaned, Oil flushed, New coolint, Tune up, Brakes and brake lines cleaned. This Datsun runs so well, I placed a bottle water on top of the motor in the morning to demonstrate how smooth the engine runs. All of which you can see in the video. This 240z doesn't knock smoke leak or overheat. Transmission shifts great. Clutch feels great. All the lights, Turn signals, Brake lights, Head light, Back up lights, Mechanic light even the cigarette lighter all work. Radio works. Heater works. All of which you will see in the video. Considering its 45 years of age, There is some expected wear and tear, But, Personally I love it the way it is. It shows originality and a story. It cleans up very nicely as you can see in the pictures and video. This is the perfect example of the term 'Only Original Once' I could sit here and talk about this 240 all day, But hopefully the video and pictures will answer all your questions. If not, If you have any questions or need to see more pictures of videos, Don't hesitate to call or message me at anytime Quote

I think it's just an early shell...with a low vin number. I think it's missing documentation so only good for parts. Worth cutting up for roof, rear 1/4's, rear valance etc.. Floors look like later replacement pieces (not OEM) pressing. The rest is fubar! Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 24, 2017 Author Administrators Posted August 24, 2017 Real Fairlady Z & '71 240Z Projects Package Deal http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58373-real-fairlady-z-71-240z-projects-package-deal/ See also: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58365-selling-my-genuine-fairlady-z-71-240z-package-deal/ It's 1 rough pudding...but it is an early build S30Z too! I think due to the rarity of the Fairlady, a package deal around $20k seems pretty fair. I really don't want to break the package up, but I'll listen. The 240Z needs some floor work and rockers, but overall it can be saved easily. The Fairlady needs more work and engine/tranny...but when are you going to find another???! I think that's a pretty reasonable number considering the 240Z fixed up is easily a $20-25k car, and the Fairlady if I can get my hands on the original motor and tranny in due time, will be worth $60-90k depending on quality of restoration. Thoughts? Quote

I very much recommend reading the original thread(s) concerning this Fairlady Z-L over on the classiczcars forum: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58213-i-have-fairlady-s30-01036need-some-advice/ Some of the claims initially being made about the car were fantasy/hearsay/misunderstanding, but more importantly there's a lot missing and the 'shell appears to be a pretty poor state. The firewall sheetmetal in particular looks a proper mess, quite apart from the hack job RHD to LHD conversion. As a "package", the two cars don't make any sense to me. If you are buying an early 1970 production Fairlady Z-L then surely you want pretty much all of the relevant (RHD and early production) parts? This one is missing most of the early RHD-specific parts as well as many of the dual-purpose RHD/LHD early parts that a January/February 1970 production dated car would need. The later LHD car in the "package" doesn't help with any of that, so it's a whole other deal. And who wants an early Fairlady Z-L that's been (badly) converted to LHD? It's neither fish nor fowl. gav240z and cracker 2 Quote
