I think Craig has sold it. It has been showing as "Sold" on carsales for week or two. Someone got a great car.

I wasn't with him, he does a lot little journeys just him and the Chev.

Every chance it was him, he seems to be always out and about in it.

Hi Rickers Welcome, as everyone else has said you should be able to find the advise and support you need on the forum. I totally understand the having a car project with your father. A while back I purchased 1940 Chev as a toy for Dad and I to play with - it lives at his place and he is takes it out almost every day. I became very aware that whilst Dad is not ill, he was not getting any younger (75) and if I left it too long the opportunity would be gone. It has been the best money I ever spent, we have had so fun bonding and drinking while fiddling the Chev. I am really looking forward to reading about the experience you and your father have with the Z. Cheers PB

Hi Alan Had a look at the car today. My car has a separate wire Black Male Spade incorporated in the loom coming up the column. This wire is VE+ and if earthed the lights flash. I am assuming that this wire is branch off the high beam Combo switch feed. The wire from the "Flash" button changes to black at the end of the stalk then runs uninterrupted all the to the aforementioned spade. The attached photos show 1. The wire coming from the switch and then running under column 2. The spade it connects to (indicated by the screwdriver) Hope this helps PB

Hi Mick In my car the lights have a constant power regardless of the switch. The switch purely completes the circuit to earth. Cheers PB

Hi Alan I haven't had a chance to look at the FSM or my car (which has the PASS switch) but offer the following comments. The headlight circuit on the S30 is of a switched earth type and as such the Combo switch on the left of the steering column simply decides which circuit to earth Low or High beam. Taking this a step further I suspect the Pass switch simply go earth when pressed. If so, you could just splice that wire onto the High Beam wire leading to the combo switch and should be in business. How would I check this is the care ? 1. Check the Pass switch does indeed go earth when pressed. 2. Check for 12V+ on more than one wire going to the combo switch, then earth each of those wires (via a test lamp) and see if headlamp come on (Hi/Low ?) just a thought. If I get a chance on the weekend I will have a look at my '77 and see how the wiring plugs together, although earlier cars will most likely have a loom that is missing the plug for that wire Cheers PB

Hi I cut the loom and transferred the plugs in mine. Getting a set from a wreck was something I did consider. Cheers PB

Hi Alan The BA injectors will have a much greater flow rate than the L28E ones. I would be concerned about running rich if you increase the injector flow by too much - I am assuming you are running the standard (non adjustable) ECU. Cheers PB

Hi Just a small update. I now have a working and acurate clock well it has kept time installed for 3 weeks. Yes, I know it is wrong face for a '77, and the hands are a little short - but this is prototype of an economical clock restoration idea and I didn't want to risk destroying my original clock.

The basic concept of the P76 was on the money, room for 5 adults, big boot, concealed wipers. It was let down by poor build quality, among a few other things. Any that are still around will have had their quality issues fixed and are no actually nice cars to drive. The 4.4L V8 was very advanced the time. Cheers PB
