  1. Very nice mate! Like the color a lot. Those wheels are 260z alloys, so they're definitely a period mod. Guess lots of 240z owners might have fitted the 260z alloys to 'keep up with the times'
  2. If you're up for a road trip, send me a PM. Have shell, rolling gear, hanging panels etc. You'll need to be handy with the welder though.
  3. If that falls through, send me a PM, I have a pair in SA
  4. I have an OK one in Adelaide. Straight and bog free, however there's probably a 50c sized hole at the front of rust. Happy to post but probably won't be very cheap, might only be best if you know someone making an interstate trip. I can also cut the rust and patch in a new section. PM if you want some photos.
  5. Oooh! Awesome color. Don't see many like that, really like it. Welcome!
  6. Quick tip, I think your early one would have had a pointed 'tip' rather than the flat one
  7. The censorship on the forum is breaking this link Just replace the 'shiver' with you-know-what in the web browser to get the right one. Good luck guys!
  8. Hey all, Been a while coming, but I better get off my arse and get around to doing it. After the latest new(old) toy and moving out of parent's house, I've gotta clear out some space. Realistically, I'm not going to find the time to do this properly for at least another 5 or 10 years. Nowhere to store it in the mean-time either. This is the kinda car that needs someone who has a) deeper pockets than me or b) can afford to spend an hour or two a night for quite a while to finish it. The shell currently has dibs until a decision has been made by that person, but opening up for interest's sake + everything else. Oh, also have a bolt-on towbar for a 2-seater Z (from a 260z). Mounts by bolting onto the two rear bumper mounts (same as rotisserie mounts), and one bolt that goes through one of the horizontal bars on the rear subframe (that connects the two control arms). Bits: *1971 240z shell. Very rusty middle section, front and rear is fairly standard 240z stuff though. Wanting to sell as a donor i.e. cut up for parts, or buyer takes everything *All hanging panels, a spare roof patch, 2x spare battery trays, 2x '77 floors, spare wheel well *Fiberglass front nose-cones (might keep) *All rolling gear for a 240z. Diff, struts, arms, blah blah blah *Early flange gearbox + drive shaft (I may consider keeping these though). *240z tail lights + surrounds *Seats (need recovering and re-stuffing) *Dashboard and all instruments *Various interior plastics, some cracked and some OK. *Radiator, etc *1/4 windows *Vented hatch I have most of the 'early' parts as well, however I'll either be keeping them, or if someone wants everything, those bits can be negotiated too (metal fan, choke/throttle center-console, D-hubcaps, etc). Don't really have any prices in mind, whatever is fair is fair. Wanting the shell accounted for before splitting out the rest of the parts though. Full high-res photos of the shell are at: If interested in anything, PM or send me an e-mail at ryankennedys30@gmail.com Cheers, Ryan
  9. Welcome mate, nice work taking on the challenge. Will be great to see it complete
  10. More than 60k yen I'd say. I've had good experience with classic car nagoya in terms of importing stuff if you want. Bit cheaper than Streeter is. ccnagoyaeng at gmail
  11. Fresh paint, overspray, selling before he's finished putting on trim... Yep, steer clear methinks!
  12. Stalk gumtree and the classifieds here for a cheap 260z 2+2. If they can split parts for you, grab the firewall & steering rack and that should be mostly it. Brake/clutch cylinders and a few other little things might be different, not too sure. Then just keep an eye out for a 240z dash, or use a 260z one if it doesn't bother you too much.
  13. I bought that red (pink...) 260z from the old lady which was on gumtree a couple of weeks back that you posted too. More cowbell indeed. Congrats on the purchase!
  14. Sold already? Interesting..
  15. How rotten are you willing to go? I might have something around the price point, but give me a week or two to decide That said, it'd be less work to just convert an LHD
  16. I had that on both sides on the 260z. It was one of the least rusty shells I've seen, so I wouldn't be too stressed about it if I were you I doubt any more rust would be underneath, as the rust there is from moisture getting stuck in the weather seal, not from the inside (in contrast to doglegs and the fender areas). Fortunately mine was only surface pitting, nowhere near needing metal replacement.
  17. Drop dead gorgeous, that finish is amazing.
  18. No shipping outside of the US :'( Probably wouldn't be keen on splitting that ashtray out either!
  19. Nice find. Sounds like you're going for the right direction! I'm really loving the sports-option, period mods, kinda hot-rod feel which seems to be getting popular.
  20. No time waisters guys, seller is too busy to spellcheck and/or write a proper ad! The single, low res photo looks pretty nice though.
  21. You mean, the XJ13? There was only one XJ13 built I saw a replica out in the hills a few weeks ago. Nearly crashed my bike rubbernecking to get a better look, hands down best looking car I've ever seen in the flesh. Miura has nothing on this I reckon.
  22. Nice work! Just remember to go really, really really slow when doing the inner panel. Even slower than that. Slower again. There's only a few cm of metal on the outer edge to absorb the heat, rather than the rest of the car where it's completely connected. And because there's no real curves, it'll want to warp pretty quickly. Anyways good stuff Like reading your updates.
  23. With regard to my 260z (can't remember for 240z), definitely a bolt meant to be there, mine has the exact same bolt as yours. Had similar issues with my rack bushings. 260z rack, think I bought 260z or 280z bushing kit (can't remember), and had to shave about 5mm off of each side for them to squeeze in properly.
  24. Hoooooooo yeah! Looks fantastic. Keep it up!
  25. I didn't so much as think about cleaning any of the parts I had done & it turned out great. Did a whole cars worth in about two buckets (headlight cones and all)
