  1. I'm with gilltech, change the balance tube and say nothing they probably wont notice, but if you talk to them, they will be forced to investigate and come up with stuff you wont like..
  2. hmmm, , to my limited knowledge the 260 had hitachi carbies not SU as for the rest no need to run water. if your car hasn't got all the emission connections on it i would get rid of all that as well, or better still source another tube without all the pollution stuff on it

  4. a relay probably wont stop you blowing fuses you need to fix the the wiring short that is causing it, the relay stops the the excessive voltage feeding back and cooking the headlight switch but also gives you full voltage at the light
  5. well pre covid, less than 2 weeks from being sent, I cant quite remember but it wasn't long don't know about now though, I think you will be in for a bit of a wait, if we send stuff to melbourne it goes to sydney then back to melbourne and I live in victoria
  6. thankyou, I have repaired the said area myself, I have got a heap of stuff from him namely the full radiator support which I have not installed yet.
  7. no steering stops, it is all in the rack jack it up at the front and put it on full lock and check clearance each side i think you will find it is off centre the only other thing it might be is a different rim offset on the front you said you had new tyres fitted, I know I cant run my rears on the front they hit the calipers
  8. Had the exact same problem.. I had to do this , the rack is probably centre but the tie rods are adjusted offset to correct the alignment, then the steering wheel has been removed and re-centred. You need to count lock to lock as you have done, then remove the steering wheel and refit it it so the orientation is correct, then take it in for a wheel alignment, note the steering wheel will be off centre but in the correct position.... after the alignment it will be straight and lock to lock correct. I am with Shannon's with all my cars, 2 club plate, 2 daily's and 2 bikes they are reasonable and you can agreed value insurance cover, I have my 260 at 25grand agreed value @$140p/m on all vehicles comprehensive cover +free windscreen every 12months per vehicle, I have changed all four screens over the years.. but with "limited use clause" on club cars and bikes. HTH

  15. I have just received my new 260 complete front panels "not genuine" from the UK it is very good quality quite expensive but I couldn't make them,, the s/h front I had was not worth mucking around with in the end.
  16. the covers came from Interior innovation many years ago, he requested a photo at the time and that's the photo I sent him, I don't know who this mob is I guess they bought him out maybe. I just found it bizarre to see my car pictured in a usa ebay site. I wonder if they will give me a discount on another set for my new car

    Peter, cut and shut may not be the correct term to use, sorry bout that, I dont see a problem its only 18 inches of the front I want to replace not the whole front end. its pretty hard just to pack up a vehicle that doesn't run and drive 14 hrs to take it to a shop for a repair without knowing the cost of the repair, but I will give it some thought, I think that it is a bit too much for me to handle but I was prepared to have a go, couldn't make it any bloody worse.

    yes,, hidden under all the shit was a really bad front end repair from a crash, for me easier to replace the front than to try and bash it out I am not a panel beater

    wanted to buy front off 260 from about the wheels forward including rad support let me know if you have anything, I don't have the skills to repair it and would prefer just to cut and shut Regards Linton

    mmmm yes that's interesting comments, talking to rob at the z factory he mentioned that the car may have been a 240 at production as it is quite an early one 74 chassis 898 but upgraded to a 260z, I havent heard that comment before but I also have done no research on it. I do have a +2 tail light cover and side panels so I can have a play with that. I did try it, but wasn't even close Robs "comment" was based on the chassis rail being about 1/2 inch in depth and very short , I have no cars to compare it with down here.. Cheers
