I thought you liked S30's with triple carbs.

I did not not realise that negative switching is used. I have now found this topic which discusses fitting relays to 260Z headlights;
-
I thought it looked a bit familiar. It's the same seller as in February by the way.
-
Glad to hear you sorted it out. What was the problem? You might want to check your new diagram by the way. It shows the high beam output from the original socket connected (yellow wire) to the ground connection (85) of the high beam relay. It also show the low beam output from the original socket connected (green wire) to the trigger connections (86) of both relays.

The first thing I would do is to disconnect the wires from the original/existing sockets – then check that both have good ground readings. I would then check for power from the low and high beam wires with the headlight switch on and selecting low, then high beam. Your diagram shows the ground pin of the original socket being connected to the 86 (trigger) pin of the low beam relay. Since you say that low beam is working, I assume that the low beam pin is connected to the relay? The diagram also shows that you have connected the ground pin of the existing socket to the high beam relay's coil ground pin, but the low beam's coil ground pin appears to use a separate ground point. You could try connecting the 85 pin of the high beam relay to a separate ground.

1973 DATSUN 240Z (LHD) Negotiable - All offers over $30K will be considered Bentleigh, Victoria https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bentleigh/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-240z/1187414487 "Here for sale we have a 1973 Datsun 240Z. This car has a real following and does not need an introduction. These cars are becoming quite scarce and you won’t find a cheaper 240Z, especially in this condition! This car is a genuine Californian car. It has the original Californian number plate, purchase documents, owners manual, warranty manual, service manual and receipts from work carried out back from 1973 and all importation documentation. It starts first time, every time and does not blow smoke. However it does need some tender love and care. Car is sold as is. With a bit of attention this car will come up a real treat and worth a lot more! Truely a collectible piece. I also have a few spare parts such as front splitter, wheel arch flares and steering rack for RHS conversion, quarter panel and other bits and pieces that I am willing to sell separately." -

According to this topic, 260Z ammeters use an external shunt instead of the 240Z's internal (to the ammeter) shunt. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21463-what-is-a-shunt/ -

Partially sandblasted which uncovered a lot of rust and hidden nasties. I do not have the time or the patience to take on this level of restoration. Please note......she needs a lot of work! Has had accident damage to LH sill wheel arch area and has been repaired badly. Creasing evident forward of and around LHR strut tower. Accident damage to LHF also repaired badly. Floors, sills, engine rails, wheel archs, battery area, upper firewall, etc rusted and or previously repaired badly. Basically rust in all the common 240Z areas. Bonnet has mild damage to nose area and also rusted along edges. Doors aren't in to bad shape. Rear hatch (vented) may require work, front guards only require lower repair sections. Interior is in poor condition. Still has original wood steering wheel. Only things I'm aware of that are missing are 1 x door window, windscreen and carbies. All other parts have been in boxes for 9+ years. Any questions feel free to call or message me 07 4948 1093 or 0403 024 254. More photos on request. Vehicle located in the Whitsundays and would require a ute and trailer to take away all the parts. Cannot be freighted." -

Hi Youhan - the control arm is normal - I just answered your question here; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/17226-herbs-240z-0573-hs30-102298/?do=findComment&comment=204452

It's normal - the control arms are identical so one is mounted 'upside down' to suit. A quirky way to cut down on production costs.

Black interior, automatic transmission. I will be interested to see if Herb's (5/73) car is also 307 blue. From what I have seen, 307 was only available for very late 240Z's and then 260Z's.
