  1. Rear valance for 240Z The Z car depot now sells reproduction rear valance sections for US$189. They don't seem to be able to ship it to Australia though. "Rear valance sheet metal for under the rear bumper. This part is designed for Datsun 240Z, 1970-72 because of the larger exhaust" cut out and bumper bolt location. It can be made to work on 260Z and 280Z, however trimming of the ends may be required"
  2. Oops - I didn't read the ad properly - it's more of a weird public service announcement. There is this one on eBay at the moment - $159 opening bid; https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-Door-Mount-Rear-Vision-Mirror-OEM/202386072271?hash=item2f1f2662cf%3Ag%3A~IIAAOSwI5VbXrhy&LH_PrefLoc=1&_nkw=240z&_sacat=131090&rt=nc And Warren has been trying to sell this as a RHS mirror for a while (but it's definitely a LHS mirror) - $195 opening bid: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240-260Z-Coupe-260ZC-2-2-Rh-Door-Mirror/332735708498?hash=item4d7897fd52:g:jVMAAOSw88RbHcc1
  3. This LHS mirror has been on Gumtree since March. It is genuine, brand new and well priced. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ferny-hills/auto-body-parts/new-oem-datsun-240z-l-h-door-mirror-hope-you-say-thanks-/1177587228
  4. Video of a LHD unicorn;
  5. I just watched this Youtube video. He makes a very convincing argument for not using anti-seize on wheel nuts, but it made me wonder what the Auszcar spanner-heads do to compensate for the effect when using anti-seize on threads.

    The Z Store sells them. (US$249.95) http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic01b/50-1608
  7. Cheaper, but your parking lights would be amber too. Here is a succinct discussion about using amber front parking lights. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2603583
  8. The link has changed (due to the site upgrade I assume) https://www.viczcar.com/forum/profile/101180-specialp3/content/?type=gallery_image&
  9. 1972 US 240Z identity for US$300; 72 Datsun 240Z original ID plates vintage collectors https://www.ebay.com/itm/72-Datsun-240Z-original-ID-plates-vintage-collectors/163167992770?hash=item25fd91fbc2%3Ag%3AnRkAAOSwatRbWTh4&_sop=10&_nkw=240z+-turbo+-radiator+-spacers&_sacat=6028&rt=nc
  10. The lights in the valance section on 73's were parking lights (only). You could use headlights with built-in parking light globes if you wanted to do do that.
  11. They should put the front blinkers back on top of the bumper and sneak it up to $65K.
  12. Supercheap have a vinyl one for $12.99 and a leather one for $17.99 - you could take a tape measure there (or another car parts store) rather than buying one 'sight unseen'. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Black-Pvc-Gear-Boot/352319?menuFrom=1021727 http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Black-Leather-Gear-Boot/352318?menuFrom=1021727
  13. The original boots were vinyl, not leather - but they still cost $50 or more. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mordialloc/other-parts-accessories/datsun-240z-260z-gearshift-boot/1124102105
  14. They are stainless steel and will polish up nicely even if they don't look too flash to begin with.
  15. I saw the listing this morning, before it disappeared - at that stage there had been 55 bids - the highest being $19,900 - Reserve not met.
  16. You are correct - it was on eBay in November last year, with an opening bid of $20,000 and a 'Buy It Now' of $33,000. The location in that listing was Gorokan NSW, and now it's Blue Haven NSW (5 kms away) - so it could be the same seller. Some of the same photos have been used.
  17. OK - I now call "SCAM!" The price has been 'amended' to $12,000. The description has been edited to; "Selling 1976 Datsun 260z manua L 28 engine N42 block. N42 head. Fully restored inside and outside no rust the interior is good condition fully resprayed few years ago save you a lot of $$$$ the car only need new tire and services Serious buyers only call daytime only or email." Three new pics added too. The really interesting part is that it has a back seat! The interior shot is a RHD car - The engine bay photo is a LHD car! (corner of plastic battery tray showing) And it doesn't look like the engine bay of a car that has been "Fully restored inside and outside". Edit - looking at the exterior photos again - the number plates on the vehicles in the background suggest that the photos are from Japan. I have now reported this to Gumtree as a suspected scam.
  18. Datsun 260z $11,000 Coombabah, QLD https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coombabah/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z/1190319218 "Selling 1976 Datsun 260z manual fully restored no rust the interior is good condition. Fully resprayed few years ago save you a lot of $$$$ the car only need new tire and services. Serious buyers only I will slightly negotiable on price." It seems too cheap to be true.
  19. The description said "SOLD AWAITING FINAL PAYMENT" 45 minutes after it was listed. The same seller also has a 1976 260Z 2+2 for sale at $8,500 https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/caboolture-south/collectables/datsun-260z-2-2/1190121591 But wait, there's more... Datsun 240Z/240K engine and gearbox (with flat top carbs) for $700 https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/caboolture-south/collectables/datsun-240z-240k-engine-and-gearbox/1190219519 and a ute load of parts including 2 bonnets, three hatches and a pair of front guards (Starting from $50 to $1700) https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/caboolture-south/collectables/datsun-240z-and-260z-assorted-parts/1190219959
  20. I just had a weird premonition that Jeff's answer may include the letters K,B & S
  21. Nice work Jeff. How did you refinish the suspension components? Sand/wire wheel/media blast? And what paint/s did you use? Sprayed or brushed?
