  1. For some good reason the 6 hour was on at the same time and then they ask why no one is there
  2. whats the funny part , I have cracked 300 in two cars at PI , both were not Datsuns , toms car crashed at around 190k but it would have done 300 easy if it was at full power , it had 470kw engine on low boost , 300 is easy , not cheep but easy . Is it the right thing to go looking for that power and speed , lol that's not my call , each to there own if your up to it , most are not .
  3. just build a good tail shaft and run a 3.7 diff and have 550hp atw and rev it to 7500 in 5Th easy been there done that , toms Rb28 did 280 + km at PI at the Nat's before he crashed and ended the fun , and that was with a 4.1 diff , its not that hard ,
  4. Yes they were great in the day , and still engines like this make all Datsun people look and drool , and id love to own one , I have a 4 cylinder version , but things have moved on and engines have gotten so much better , and so have engine building technics and equipment , the engines we are building are making more hp and lasting longer than ever before ,, I just wish Datsun , Nissan had built the cars with larger wheels and tires like some German cars so we could play on a more level play ground ,,,
  5. the extractors are hpc and the rest is SS , looks great
  6. I will be down there with a 1600 gordo
  7. You only have a stock head on it really, later on if you wont more its easy to gain 50hp more
  8. Weber performance in melb
  9. No the ti valves would be great , but they just don't last , and he wants it to last , you only get around 3000km from the Ti valves before they fail
  10. you are right the bottom will no problem , but we have a very large intake valve and its very hard to control it at hi rpm as its made from SS , its very heavy , and we need the engine to do many miles as Greg races all the time and needs it to drive to the track as well , so a light valve wont do .
  11. HAHAH sorry I should have said from 3.4 and a bit ,
  12. Thanks for the intrest , things have stepped up on this build , Les has made a new head for it and we are at a new hp level that we never thought we would see , but because off this now we need to rethink many things like pipes and valve weight and valve springs , and camshaft , we hope to see 116hp per L from 3.4 at 8000

    P90 head

you only need a p90 if you are going with a big stroker and want the 54 cc chamber , with some work the N42 is fine , and will make good power

    Engine VRS kit

get a KP set there the only kit to have , they made the Nissan gaskets , you can get them from MD spears or SW motorsport
  15. motor will be in the car tomorrow, we have just been flat out i have 20 motors on at the moment
  16. 5th gear is a 18mm gear and does not have oil holes in it and does live at the hp and torque we make , thats why we all use it , the stock L box has a 16mm 5th with oil holes and when the gear fails it cracks from the oil holes out the gear falls in 3 bits, the fjt box does not have the oil holes
  17. Most of the fast cars run a 4.1 or 4.3 top speed is 144 mph .the track is all about corner speed and you need the short diff to get off the tight stuff
  18. same gear strenth , with a gear set there up for about 330ftlb stock around 290 yes they will take more , but its only a time thing , blokes smash SR boxes with ease with a stock motor . the stock L box will be up for about 220ftlb at 240 its only time
  19. check all mounts one or more will have broken , make shore you check the gearbox mount , and diff mounts and all the diff mounting points
  20. HAHAH man we smash 5th gear all the time on them at PI , the gear splits in 3 bits , i think Gordo has done it 3 times , thats why we have been using the fj20t box , runing 300+hp engines at 7500 for the hole time down the strate at PI in 5 gear just kills the standard gox and gears . the cheepest setup is a turbo box with your bellhousing on it , then save up for a close ratio set so it stays in the torque all the time
  21. Gareth the ratio we use in the fjt box are 2.43 1.68 1.26 1 .86 or .75 and we use a 4.3 diff with it for most L motors
  22. with the sr box you also have to mod the floor and shifter hole and the plastic need work to fit the shifter , with the fj box the shifter is like the L box no mods needed only have to swop the bellhousing
  23. they have the same size gear Gareth , there 20mm wide 260 box is 18 , also the gear sets have better gear strenth , also the bearings are the same as the sr box , its only when you go to the rb25 and vg30 boxes that you get a bigger gear sets and bearings , much stronger but much harder to fit to the L motor , the fj t box with a gear set is more than up for your engine mate ,
  24. the reason we use the fj20t box is so we can use the wide gear , because the stock L gear size just wont hold up with the torque the motors are making , the fjt box with a gear set from kameri is a good thing ,
  25. just thought id show the gear box , we had the case water jet blasted , they look better than new ,
