    WTB bonnet flutes

After a righthand bonnet flute for my 260z
  2. Would these pass a scrutiny check if I wanted to go hillclimbing? 7'' globes with 235/60/14 Yokies 352 looks like they stick out a bit, nothing ridiculous but the lenghtened arms on the rally car don't help. Just a one off thing won't be changing the rally set up.
  3. Yes I don't think the prince had trumpets either so max trumpet height is about 50mm. NZ if your making moulds a taller box would be ideal
  4. Good timing I'm about to put the knife to my Prince airbox, but its become a prick of a job. The distance btn carbs is correct but the prince carbs are staggered, so it looks like I'll cut six square holes, keeping the ribs and mounting tabs and weld this sheet onto the back. Alot of work

    Rising coolant temp

I don't have an IR gun but what I did do is jump the temp wire from the 2+2 to the rally car and the temp still went over 1/2 so I can only guess the water is getting warm, rad looks clean but either its blocked or the pump isn't working well.
  6. Anyone wanna guess what my next move or problem is? My 2+2 has been sitting for 10 months, got it out drove it and noticed temp goes 3/4 instead of usual 1/2 point - I flushed coolant, still high - fitted new thermostat, still high The only thing I know is highway driving brings the temp closer to half and top rad hose is hot bottom hose is fairly hot too but bottom of radiator feels cooler?
  7. Hadn't thought of that, might be like a big tuning fork! Only kept it as rally cars tend to have two pumps so it will give so more room to mount the second carters are to be mounted btw bottom of tank and no more than 24'' above it
  8. Factory fuel pump bracket RHS Yours looks a bit cleaner than mine, we had a torrential down pour on the rally the worst conditions I've ever had to race in
  9. Yeah screw down is an option apparently, I didn't know why would anyone want push on. problem was this was Monday when it arrived and I had to set off thursday for rally recce so had to chance it. I mounted it to the factory fuel bracket, using the supplied L bracket with its 3 rubber isolaters for pump. It just sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle
  10. Nice work, we have a similar track here in VIC
  11. Well I fitted the Carter and first thing I noticed was the bloody noise, even with the supplied rubber mounts. Does a good job pushing fuel thru and rated at 5psi but after fitting it to the car I find the power terminals are push on! I thought damn how's that going to go on a rally car....stage 5 10kms in I found out as the car came to a halt, +ve lead off lost more than a minute there then 200m from the end of stage the car starts losing power once more, managed to coast into finish and guess what -ve lead off! I was a bit shitty thinking I'd fixed one fuel problem with this new pump to have another one! To top it all off because I jumped out of the car the in a rage the second time my intercom was still connected, coat hangered myself and damaged the intercom lead meaning I couldn't hear my navigator joys of rallying
  12. I'll stick this carter on and T piece a secondhand Facet I have for back up. At one point I had 3 filters because the tank was so rusty ( car has been parked up for 23yrs) the original factory pump still makes noise but must be cactus, I'll disconnect and delete the factory reg while I'm at it(shouldn't effect the fuel cut off switch?) cheers thanks fellas
  13. I just bought one 4070 72 gph 4-6 psi, I'm hoping I don't need a reg but i do have a pressure guage at the carbs
  14. had a look those 4070 are they 4 - 6 psi?
  15. Can Facet fuel pumps be used on triple webers? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/400797236932?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 My Dyno guy says yes but I'm not sure, The last rally we DNF at 11 clock at night and got flat towed 60kms out of the forest, so I've replaced the rusty fuel tank, added 3/8 fuel line and thinking of getting 2 Facet pumps to replace the factory original?

    L26 upgrade/Swap

    that L24 i wouldn't worry about front sump, I'd have a STD l28 over an L24 anyday
  17. Anyone got some 260z struts with threaded collars forsale? before I start moding mine fr and rear.
  18. I've used. GT logistics to import a motor bike, handled everything shipped chrch.aulk.Melbourne and do containerized lots.
  19. +1 ditch the wheels to a Triumph fan, keep the black and yellow theme and tint the windows
  20. Leaf springs, moustache etc can be welded with the right filler rod/ heating process. Yes adding steel reinforcement only moves the problem further.
  21. And if the original wet legs are still fitted then I'd replace the oil first, only cost you $20 worth a try.
  22. OK I'll go the 10w all round, I do have a set of HDT 40mm Billies but pretty sure they don't fit the 51mm 240z strut. Jason I've got 200lb kings in the rear and 220lb pedders prog in the front does that sound right for gravel, thinking of tossing the pedders for single rate 220lb cos the top 5 coils stack flat.
  23. I've had a chance to run the zed on some rough gravel, better but I'm still not happy the rebound now looks to be slow. Might go from the 15w down to 5w next. Will soon have to invest in some REAL rally suspension, some of the state rounds are like goat trails
  24. On the 260z they ran two filters, the one in the engine bay and one directly after the fuel tank and before the electric (behind RHR wheel) If you don't have the second filter I'd fit one, I have two clear supercheap filters and the last one still gets crap even after passing the 1st filter and fuel pump
  25. Which filter is this? You replaced both right
