Love the colour, love the wheels. Don't cut any corners now the devil is in the detail. By the way how close is that orange to the 918 orange ? Cheers Paul

  9. Surely you couldnt drive that and be proud of your car
  10. Hi Pete Glad you are continuing on with the car, You will have a blast doing hillclimbs and sprints i know i do and the chances of having to fix the damage caused by some tosser trying to out brake you are minimal Cant wait to see some youtube footage of it Cheers Paul
  11. How many of us would have purchased a hk monaro or a gt falcon 10 years ago if we new. That's the whole problem you can have a guess at what you think will be worth something in the future and either be a hero or a nut sack. I used to have an XU1 and sold it for what it was worth when i sold it, Do i regret it NO, because i sold it for a reason, Yes it would be worth more now but who cares. If you are basing what car to buy from what you may sell it for in years to come then your best of keeping the car you have and saving your money. If you want a 240 or a 260 or even a Z32 because you love that car then buy it. The joy you get from owning and driving the car you love as opposed to the car you should get because its better value for money right now will far out way how much money you may loose when you sell it. We had a guy a few years ago spend 60+ g on stretching a P76 500mm longer so it had more leg room in the back. Now i for one cant understand doing that. I asked him one day WHY. He said to me What are my choices to buy with leg room and comfort, I said a Statesman or Ghia etc etc, He than says well i would spend 60g to get one of those and i don't like them so why would i do that when i can spend the same amount on my favourite car and yes i know in 5-10 years time it will be worth bugger all but so will the statesman and the ghia but in the meantime i have been driving a one of car that turns heads wherever it goes and i love it. So if you want my opinion, Who cares what it may or may not be worth. Cheers Paul

    Patina

I agree those guys that take the car back to steel and let the whole panel rust are trying to hard, That RX is horrid, As was said it is to modern of a car to look any good like that. I think the main problem i have with the look is are these guys leaving structural defects in the car for the sake of the old look. As i said i like the look but i would be more along the lines of making the car bullet straight, all rust repaired then lay on a few layers of different coloured base coat, maybe even a race dot and number and some period advertising all in base coat then some carefully thought out rubbing on all the high ware areas and sun damage areas then some satin clear. Sort of make it look like a barn find race car from what ever period the project car is from. Cheers Paul
  13. Don't worry to much about it Mick it can be done. We have fitted a supercharged 1uz Toyota V8 into an MGB with full custom A arms and adapted the Soarer diff and rear arms in as well as brembo brakes and that got fully engineered so fitting an RB into a Z is not going to be a problem. But i would recommend getting Doug up asap to tell you what you have to do or you may need to pull stuff out and redo. Definitely don't lower your spring perches yet either. If you are running Willwoods you may have some grief as they don't have dust seals. You will probably need to do lane change and brake fade tests. Regards Paul
  14. As far as i know SA is the toughest state for doing stuff like this. That being said it can be done sometimes it just involves a few burning hoops to jump thru
  15. You have done brake mods to haven't you. Definitely call Doug, I cant see it being a problem but best to dot your I's and cross your T's, I would maybe hold of doing to much wiring etc to you get a requirement list of what you need to comply to. Cheers Paul
  16. So what was enginered in Vic, the car that the engine came from?
  17. The car is registered here in SA with that engine in it tho isnt it Mick
  18. Nah, As long as it doesn't rub on anything cant see it being a problem. I dint think the engine mount rubbers would move that far. My RB is about 50mm away and i would have liked it a bit closer. Cheers Paul
  19. HI All As we all would have seen for a while the old buggered paint look or "patina" is really popular. I actually think it looks great and will at some point do it to something. What do you guys think Cheers Paul
  20. Hi Mick Looks good man, Cant wait to see it. The springs should sit a bit but i don't think they will go as much as your hoping Regards Paul
  21. HI I have seen it on a few drift cars but i wouldn't recommend doing it on a streeter, Looks pretty tacky and cheap. Either way you would still need to get rid of rust and dents to make the car look any good and that is the expensive part of a paint job anyway. Not sure what Michael classes as a decent paint job but a cheap paint job would last over 5 years, A good one with quality paint and rust fixed properly would last 20+ years Regards Paul
  22. Great link yosemitezed Cheers Paul
  23. I would leave it off I think the only rear wings that look any good on Z's are the little bobtails My opinion tho
