  1. Can anyone confirm if this is actually true? I am thinking that the new coilover spring perch gets welded onto the strut tube and the threaded sleeve slides over and simply rests on the new perch. Does the threaded sleeve need welding aswell??
  2. I remember having Kings Springs with my stock front and rear bars (remember 260Z stock front bar was bigger than 240Z stock front plus addition of rear bar) and it was great. A little more body roll on corners. I personally wouldn't go more than 200lbs for street. The tokico springs are close to 200lbs and people on US sites often complain about being too stiff and harsh on bad roads. I agree with Simon. Illuminas are the way to go as you can adjust them to suit the spring rate.
  3. Don't you love when a box of goodies arrives. I have gone with 150 lbs front and 175 lbs rear. This is a similar rate to Kings Springs rates which are great for street comfort and with larger sway bars very little body roll.
  4. Yes, $900 is reasonable. I was considering getting these complete setups (for the S30) , but in the end got the Ground Control coilovers from them and will get them installed locally. They are really quite good with postage rates too. They charged me $169 for postage (for 4 coilovers, front LCAs and tension rods) and the box showed it actually cost $229 when it arrived .
  5. Nice 280ZX with my old wheels. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-280ZX-FULLY-RESTORED-/130856051744?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item1e77a0e420
  6. Since it will just be the 4 of us, why don't we just meet at my house at 8am and I can make us some coffee with bacon and egg toasted sandwiches for breakfast. Then we head off together. I only live 10 minutes away from Glenelg.
  7. Tough set of wheels.
  8. Speaking to Greg (Chassis254) who has been in the past, we should meet alot earlier than 9.30 if we want to get a good spot and have a chance of being all together. How about we meet at 8.30am? Who's definitely in?
  9. Or for $200 buy this one...... http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bolwarra-heights/engine-engine-parts-transmission/datsun-l28/1014135035
  10. Thanks for all your replies guys. Ok, will leave the polished lip. Might black out the drip rail and windscreen trims. Do you have a link for this stuff? Interested to see if they have gunmetal.
  11. Still yet to get a good brake pedal, but haven't really been working on car too much lately to sort this out. I have been contemplating losing the polished lip on my wheels to give it a more old school angry look. I used black duct tape to mask the lip and give me a rough idea of how it will look after painting in case I was not happy. (I could have used photoshop, but would have taken me longer...... ) Should I: 1) leave the wheels as they are (because it looks best and the polished lip cost me extra)? 2) Go ahead and paint them black? 3) Paint them dark gunmetal?
  12. This zed has moved me. I think I want to paint my watanabe's dark grey and loose the polished lip now.
  13. Also love the rear spoiler. You seem to have sorted out the ride height issue. Did it settle or you went coilovers??
  14. SA race car minus engine and gearbox. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-/170986226984?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item27cf92c528 Looks similar to yours Paul.

I cannot really remember. I just fill it to the top.

    cooling oil

More like every time I replace my strut inserts (5-10 years). There was no corrosion in the strut after my last replacement of my Koni's. The installation manual recommended either coolant or motor oil.

I use coolant. The 4 year stuff.
  18. Shortly after i bought my car in 1994 after i put on the "cool" wheels and front spoiler . Then various phases over the years till now......
  19. Yes, I am happy to meet before so we go in together, let's say 9.30am? Another good place to meet would be on the esplanade car park a bit further north of the boat marina (where the pine trees are).

  25. Great work. With the weld-in camber plates, how much harsher to drive on the street or do you think it's more spring rate/shock setting?
