  1. Yes. Techno Toy Tuning does this front and rear.
  2. Hi and welcome. Agree with Gav, Those bumpers are WHOPPERS.
  3. If I can ride with someone, I am in. My zed is still off the road. :'(
  4. I thought that the Australian 260z's did not have rear turn signal lights??
  5. Very nice. Is this an ex US car?
  6. Sickening! I will keep my eyes peeled.
  7. Just let your insurance company know of the mods you do before you take out insurance and make a claim. I have let Shannon's know EVERYTHING I have done to the car ( including my 16x9.5 wheels) and they were happy to insure it for a reasonable price. That means that can't turn around and say "this was not a legal mod".

  10. Wide steel wheels like that weigh a tonne. Screw up the handling and slow your acceleration. That's why they are cheap.
  11. That's what I did. They look fine once painted. I have pics of them on my zed in my build thread. The problem with them is the plastic is quite soft and can easily be threaded. I am on my second pair right now for this reason. There won't be a third, trust me.
  12. Another solid day of welding today by Mick. Redundant rear bumper holes gone as well as lots of tiny rust holes around the place.
  13. If you have to ask, you'll never know. . Honestly though, it's because standard cars are getting quicker and quicker and a stock z feels slow these days. Who wants to drive a slow car as there special weekender? You should know that with a name like luvemfast.
  14. The major rust got cut out over winter when Mick replaced the roof skin. He did doglegs, hatch, floors, fenders. That's why there were no real surprises under the paint. Just surface rust mainly. There is some heavy pitting on the lower door frames and under the threshold plates.
  15. And finally after a dozen brumby disks, 10 or so wire wheels and a few litres of paint stripper, the zed is "naked". Next is for Mick, to do some hole repairs.
  16. Some pictures of my progress......

  18. I am no expert, but have been reflecting on this of late. Don't spray regular 2k topcoat at home without a booth. Use ISO free 2k topcoat at home if you like, but it's not as durable as regular 2k. As far as 2k primers, I have used Spray Chief 2k primer which is an epoxy primer, needs no etch primer and works as high fill too to paint the zed 15 years ago. We were very happy with it. The owner of Spray Chief at the time was a family friend and he said it was ok to use without a booth, but he advised us that there 2k topcoats and clears were poisonous and to avoid without a booth. If you have a good 2k base, a quality acrylic is ok but durability will be the biggest issue. Not a big deal if you have a garaged weekender. If you want extra durability use ISO free 2k topcoat at home or rent a booth and use regular 2k. I am still deciding what to do. I want to paint the zed with doors, fenders and hatch off the car which makes it a bit of a PITA to get to a booth. Either way with a good 2k base, even if you go acrylic you minimise shrinkage and stone chips to the metal and the extra work of using etch primer, spray putty and then re prime before topcoat. No one should use single PAC acrylic primer anymore!
  19. Great improvement Mick. Did you do any mods to the car at all or tyres pressures? Or was it just an extra latte before the run?

    MUST DO SOMETHING

Well the 15th of December is definitely happening for the SA zed Christmas catchup. RSVP's so far Roberto - your friendly host Mick - Zzzzed Paul - Ledge Johnny - FairladyZ Ryan - thriller Jamie - JDSM Greg - chassis254 Roger - RLY240 James - cracker Mic - Coops Richard - fluegel No need to bring anything. Just your zed if it's driving!
  22. Yes, I will crack out the old Welder. It's not really nice to call Mick old though.
  23. Hi Guys, These holes I believe were to accommodate larger bumpers on the US zeds. For the Australian market, the factory plugged them with a large oval shaped rubber plug. My plugs are not in the best shape and very hard and brittle so I doubt they will get back in there. I have not been able to source replacements. What are the options? Weld them up is the only one I can think of. What have others done?
  24. FYI, I just bought Wattyl Super etch and read the data sheet: It IS an epoxy self etching primer. So the question of one or the other is not necessary. SUPER ETCH ® TM1.50 Version 2, January 2010 DESCRIPTION : a premium quality, single-pack epoxy etch primer It doesn't say whether body filler can be applied on top of it or if so within what time frame.
