  1. I've never seen speakers in the footwell before
  2. Not that there's anything wrong with that!!!!!!
  3. Work really interferes with reading this forum.
  4. Scoota, I don't disagree with you about the effect the Rev had on us all - he's not dead he could pipe up any minute now .... any minute now .... I can only recall 3 nasty moments on this forum in the last 12 months. If I recall correctly most of us bandied around and quelled it before the moderators had a chance to intervene. (makes you wonder what value the moderators really are .... ) Hey, the letters are disappearing as fast as I can type them. Stop it guys. OK, without the moderators the world would stop turning. That's better. I suppose what I am saying is the etiquette (or karma if you like) of this forum was set very early on by Gav et al. This etiquette has continued through by all of us now. When someone stirs the pot in a nasty way, none of us are prepared to put up with it. I like that aspect of our forum. If you don't believe that we have a mature, community type of forum, simply look at some of the others out there. By the way Salty, Lurch doesn't take McHappy pills; he takes angry pills. Without them he is like a kitten that wants to play for a while, lick its bits clean and then curl up to sleep on your lap. It's quite pathetic really - and very embarrassing at the pub!
  5. For those of you who may be concerned about my welfare and how I'm travelling after this emotional roller-coaster .... sorry I can't even pretend to care. I have had some EXCELLENT service from young Dimitri (you all know Dimitri - he knows the difference between their, there and they're) and now have the panels that I required. MaygZ
  6. My crystal balls foresee 8 one word posts from Scoota now to get to the credible target.
  7. ? and that from a 290 poster. Shoots the shart out of your theory Scoota. ;D
  8. ...and all those that jump on here looking for a coupe ..... how can this still be for sale? Tight bums!
  9. Looking good Mick, looks like you've got most of the hard work done, so now it's time to play with her. MaygZ
  10. You will find it soooo much easier to work on on the rotisorrie. Stops you laying on the ground and welding above your head! Much easier in the knees and back too. Project is looking good mate. Well done
  11. Laney, as I said on the phone yesterday, I thought your eBay advert was $500 or make a lower offer. As I think your set is worth the now required $800, I was still prepared to buy them; even though I was somewhat displeased with your business style. I was pleased that you offered to pallet and wrap them and take them to a shipper in Newcastle; good service I think. However, if you were in a retail store of any kind and heard the boss tell a customer to "go choke on a fat one bro'", I suggest that you would walk out of the store. That's what I'm now doing. I don't say this to preach, but simply to explain my actions. I imagine that there are few early Zed restorers that are not members, or at least regular readers, of this forum. So you didn't treat just one potential customer with extreme rudeness, you said it in front of your entire client base. You might just find that you struggle to sell them to anyone on this forum now. MaygZ
  12. Laney, as per our PM's. I'll take the lot at your eBay price of $500. MaygZ
  13. Drewpee, don't mind Salty. He gets under a few people's skin. I can imagine how frustrating this has been, but it really does sound like a communication breakdown and a few left handers thrown in to add to the confusion. I must confess that I have lost track now at what stage you are at with Rego. Are you still inside the 3 months to just pay the Rego? If so I can't see why you blokes can't fix this up this week. Kobes knows and has admitted that he mucked up. I'm sure it can be fixed. If you can't rego it without going over the pits, it's decision time. Take some time (and money) and fix it up to RW condition and get it registered and safe for your little girl or, as Peter Mc has suggested, part it out, make a little coin and get a less involved project for her. At the end of the day, a few mistakes have occurred and nobody is really hurt. I don't know Kobes well, but I have heard other speak nicely of him. He can't be too bad a bloke - he likes Zeds AND he's from WA (now if he was a crow eater ......). I reckon you both should call each other or PM to sort this out fast. Just about to hit post and saw that the great smoother Rev has typed in. Rev, next time you're talking with God, can you tell him we miss you. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be known as the children of God." MaygZ
  14. Glad you have fixed it but Aviation gasket glue is not suitable for high temp joints. It will burn, become brittle and blow out. The right stuff is a tan coloured exhaust sealant. It resists the high temps. I can't recall the name, but it's readily available in all the auto stores. Being that you have had the face machined so it's nice and flat, it may not be an issue for you. Good luck.
  15. Well done guys. Many happy years ahead. MaygZ
  16. Good luck Ash. I hope it goes well for you. MaygZ
  17. Happy to help, but I won't be sanding any freaking BOG!!!!!
  18. It's a weekend's work to drive down and pick it up.
  19. I have one out of a 240Z ( I'm pretty sure they are the same). You can have it for $100 for flywheel, torque convertor and box. It's in Bairnsdale (East Gippsland). Let me know. MaygZ
  20. Looks like it's flying. Better than an X wing fighter!!
  21. What about the one you fell in love with? Why not put a note on it to see if the owner is interested in selling it? By the way, which station? It may be owned by by someone on this forum? Welcome aboard. MaygZ

    Engine confusion

I'll say it before everyone else does - Get rid of the flat tops and replace them with round tops (or triple webers ). How long has the cam been in? Has it ever run well with this cam? Points or elect distributor? How's the dwell - if points? If you disconnect the vacuum advance and drive it does it cough and fart for further up the rev range? Unless the cam is an absolute monster, it shouldn't 'hunt' at idle. That is to say the idle rpm should remain constant. The old Torana boguns think that a motor 'hunting' sounds good, but they are wrong. I suspect it would benefit from having the timing advanced a fair bit. MaygZ
