  1. Tanyone interested to see some historic, and not so historic cars scooting around Morgan Park at Warwick, on the weekend of Feb 24/25 , free entry for spectators. saturday is for testing and newcomers to have a go, under pace car control, and driver instruction sessions, Sunday is open supersprints. Entries have closed for the Saturday, but, HRCC dot org dot au ( website) may be able to accept late entries. CAMS one day licences available, free membership to HRCC for the day for newbies. It is a fun relaxed day, kicks off around 7.30, am, allw a good hour and half to get from Brisb to MP. Once again, check out HRCC website for details and contact information Short notice, but for those interested in a no pressure sessions on the track, under practice/testing guise, this is a very good opportunity to do so.
  2. Interest showing, pm sent
  3. It will go on a full resto car, that one day, the seller will ask $75,000 for, as he will have "all" reciepts, including this one! Imagine a full resto of extinct hard to find parts, it could cost in the hundreds of thousands, nay, the millions!
  4. ;)Oh, wait, some knob will come by and tell us you cant do this and you cant do that. Each MP round of their supersprints entry fee is around the $80 to $100 mark, if you did say just two rounds, it gets a bit exxy. wDSCC have been known to run a single stand alone Supersprints weekend towards end of each year, you dont need to be registered for the Sprint series for that event, as it is open to all to enter, but still need cams licence and be a club member, and TPP insurance ( if your with Suncorp on your CTP it is nil cost? Check though I did these series over a few years from 2001, it is a great stepping stone to move onto something a touch more interesting, like proper racing.
  5. Jake, they are not well advertised for people to enter as you need to be "in the info loop" to get the series registration forms sent to you at end of each year, this costs some $220 just to register for the following year, they run four sprint weekends for your registration, each event entry fee is quite low cost, it is a good weekend indeed. If you wanted to run in 2013, you need to register at end of this year with Warwick District Sporting Car Club. As it is a CAMS only track, you need at minimum a L2S licence at around $90, and you need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club Z club approc fee around $60?, or hunt around on Goldy for a local club. Cars can be registered or unreg, you also need a TPP insurance extension for any rego car. It all kinda makes the whole Lekeside and Qld Raceway day sprints so easy!, but the entry at those is a bit higher, AASA Clubman licence is less the eqivalent. The MP events are good from a spectating point of view, and as it is organised as an official motoring event, quite a few will drive their concessional special interest registered cars up and back to give them a run, as you dont need to compete to do this
  6. DW, just a funny thougjt, what if, just say, the old front section of a early 240 3 piece bell type box, just happened to bolt onto the S15, might need a few holes massaging!!..that way, an early 2000 Dato front bell could also be bolted onto a S15. Is the "middle" of the S 15 the same as Mazda mx5 or series 4 on RX7, and Lexus IS200?? I think it is Aissin ?? who makes these?
  7. Sounds like someone took the old perished split rubber stap off! I have a couple of good unperished ones here if you are chasing.
  8. Ask a friendly rta engineer or inspection workshop, that know you, as, it may be possible to use slip on spacets, BUT, they must be secured to the hub, psitively, this can mean a simple countersunk machine screw, into a countersunk hole, with corresponding drilled and tapped hole into the stock hub flange. This way, if your wheel comes flying off, the spacer does not become a head slicing off frisbee. I cant work out why it's ok for a 20 kg wheel flying, to be acceptable though. The above applies to spacers used in racing, but as said, check. I am not overly enthused about bolt on hubcentric spacers, and these are not allowed in racing use. You mention 7" rims are interfering, what are they? If they are the more common modern type rim, ie for front wheel drives etc, with large positive offset, maybe get something else??
  9. 205/50 or 60 on 15 with 0 offsett will be fine. I run 225/50 on 15's, and the extra width tryre needs the inner underside lip trimmed with a grinder, still rubs on severe compression, but not an issue. You'll be fine!
  10. Yep, do the MP thing, couple years, move on! Some are comfy, like an old soft armchair, it's nice, and it's goid for development. RG, your rig should be ok for the Lakeside door to door rolling starts?? What if anything does it need for that step up? AASA National race licence, half cost of CAMS, less onerous, car mght need AASA car passbook, some of mine are dual log/pass books, they rarely look at them. Pzg302 adores the proddie boys, my only suggestion,,,, is make sure you're either quicker than a HairMobile, or, slower, and play up the back. His green meanie was shaping up nicely to be up front of the mx5's, 'cept for the odd one or two!! Have a chat to keith out thete, see wher they would put you, you are more than ready. There are some "historic" targetted events, sometimes to bolster grids, they "invite" non complying cars in. 1980 body ZX is close to old enuf for AASA?? It would be fun for sure to get some more of the MP regulars doing the door v door.
  11. Dunno, but,,, if ypu could obtain a fifth gear from a s13 or s14 sylvia, ratio is 0.832, and, if it could be replaced into the sixth gear set in the s15 box, this would give you less engine rpm drop on fifth to sixth upchange, important in a circuit situatipn! Guys who have fitted rb20det or vl commdore box 71C that have fourth at 1.0 and fifth at 0.75, with lesser powered cars, ie atmo, find it is like hitting a brick eall. With sixth in the s15 at the "back" just like in s13/14, and being hopefully all the same, it could swap in. Other definate benefit of s15, forgatting first at horrible 3.6, mated to a 4.4 or 4.8 diff, puts ypur start line first gear as dogleg to left and down ( second gear) and the rest are in H pattern, as you wont be going back into your"first" (second stock) gear once started in a circuit situation. Yes i realise, it wont give you a low rpm cruose gear, but for tack work the swap to s15 sixth will be beneficial
  12. I refuse to believe that!! You wont be able to help delving into odd little nooks and crannys, and fiddling with the odd engine as well!! Just for the fun of it! Kelly motorsport could be interesting, but forget Albury, no nightlife up there! Let me know if you end up getting the cute thing, at end of alley in Wren rd, is full of bits and pieces.
  13. Aah Dimitri, "chocolate"rust! And a Happy Birthday to NismoZed!
  14. Brilliant, and rare here! It's nice to know that we can still remove such cars from their homeland! When very nice late 1960's Datsun Sports 2000's are being bought back by the Japanese enthusiasts, at up to equivalent of $40,000,AUD and even rarer original ( not replica) race cars with history fetch upwards of $65,000, USD,,,,just gotta ask, what has it cost to land it here?? Thete is a member on here, in Brisbane, with similar !
  15. Thats the spirit, see Dave is having a go at lots of things. 260det comment re a secific class, ie group S, or Marque or prod sports, yes you would need to travel to get more than say 6 events a year in. It is a step up in costs. AASA Lakeside/QR do offer entry level door to door stuff, ie the Topgear series, and yes i have to agree with above comment, why aren't the constant year after year after year Morgan Park supersprinters willing to "move up" a rung on the sporting side. Not for lack of trying, but after having done the MP series for a couple of yeats what is there to prove? It is a good intro to motorsport for sure. 260det, you could consider the 6 hour later this year, at PI, that will get your eye in for the 2013 Nissan Nats, yes it is a bit involved getting it there and back, twice within 9 months, but it is possible.
  16. Any old Patrol engine, underworked and under revved, or yes even harder to find a 280c. Will assume owner you got it from did not disclose wjat it came from. Cam numbers can be subjective too, pnly way to yell is if it has been reground, or a lumpy billet, by sight only, then if it looks intetesting, get it run up on a cam doctor machine Tighe Cams in Brisbane can do this, or SureCam in Sydney, cost a few dollars??
  17. T cars all rejected, Paul Trevethan had entered his V8MGB GT, the animal one! I recall watching it leave the feild behind off the start at Amaroo! Good news, the 280z is getting a run at PI in Group Sc, should also be a few other Z's running in the S field, as well as one or two in regularity. Practice and Qualifying Friday, racing Sat and Sun, we will all have wets rwady, just for tjat sodding Murphy fella!
  18. Run the Z there plenty, in historics, as well as the 2000. This year there is a six round Qld Historic Champoinship cup thingymajig, two at Lake, two at QR and two at Morg Park, all in historic mode, not marque or prod, i'll be using either car, not chading bits of shiny plastic anymore, just for fun. Old mate in big black Fezza will keep me on my toes. Its a combined Group S and T series, and the Group N touring cars will be there too. First at Lake on March 24/25 full on door to door action. What is a worry is the odd way flags get used in events, on board vid ( my car, running second o/r) from a 2011 big historic meet, has in one lap, a red at bridge, a green at hungry, a yellow at east loop, WTF, three of us held pos, and pulled up at start line under waved red, were told full course red, ,,,, ummm, no, video shows green and yellows. Bit of head scratching there. We're not sprinting with a half dozen car legths between!! In full race we rely on flaggies getting it right, they are directed from race control.
  19. Wonderfull diatribe from a club president! Very positive! Forward looking too! At least someone is prepared to stick a neck out and have a go at trying something..... And is passionate enough to push for it, and it did have some support, not as stated as below!!
  20. No it doesnt, Davey, check with Dusty, the outlay and with payment toQR to use Lakeside for the last Lapz was what $12,000, the club got in $12,500, and no cams permits, no medical intervention unit costs, no donation to the flaggies cost. WDSCC hire MP at approx third the cost, plus the extras, thats why i reckoned it would work, but, and others will confirm, there is a little group in the club that dont like the idea of risking the bank account. Nothing ventured nothing gained! By all means use Lakeside, but why not buy a few blocks, rather than the whole lot, tag onto an existing sprints calendered weekend, use that as a pure Zed based get together. It is a no brainer to go AASA and use Lakeside, far less hassle, just have to make sure that 100 zeds turn up! Using AASA and QR to do all the Lapz entry papetwork, forms, timing drivers briefing, is easy, but you pay for this, whereas at Mor Park, the club has to be behind it, and quite clearly the financial risk did play a part in negating a All Jap multi day, multi event weekend..
  21. What, these not deep dish? Some of the fooly sik lads put a ciggie pack or a mobile phone down to show dish, 'sif thats a measurement! I like 0 or up to minus 26!
  22. No bone chewing here, simple math, when Z car club Qld gets charged $12000 a day for use of a track in 2011, you need a lot of Zeds to make it pay, or just charge the 30 or 40 that "might" turn up $400 or $300 each for half a dozen 20 minute sprint sessions, then add on top all the other costs for a Zed centred get together. Hence the suggestion of jst do a show and shine, go for drive meet, like majority of other single model types do. When a committee starts to get the jitters over the possible financial risks to the healthy bank balance of staging an event that is targeted at a wider audience, thus ensuring a greater level of success, as was mooted for middle of this year, under CAMS authority, and adopt a negative stance, then there cant be too much in it for any other events to be considered in a positive light. Basic back of envelope figures showed the mooted event would have paid for itself, plus bring new membetship, as well as positive multi club exposure. Sure not a Nationals, but, are the Nationals, as a concept, dying?
  23. Pics of Enkie's? For deep dish they'd be -16/18??
  24. I have two tanks you can choose from, at $70 each but no strapping brackets or hardware. These would not be difficult to make up, using the underfloor existing tabs as on tje car, some flat, some suitable studs and welding a bit of something on to screw studs and nuts into, some rubber insulator strip as well. Located Brisbane west
  25. Yes it will, its a L28, they all do!
