188 cc injectors set of 6 at $300 have been flowed and cleaned, ready to install 480cc injectors set of 6 at $400 original Bosch units , used. Both sets ready now. Located Brisbane can put in a padded bag and post if anyone else is keen! Repco or Bursons can order in new ones, will take a few days, but you said ypu dont want to spend the $$$ on brand new ones, at retail price., as you told me? Or go to a local wrecking yard and unsrew a set off of something, could be lucky, they might fit! Ben, i already gave you a "discounted"price, but if you can get them elsewhere, go for it.

Uummm, i might bring a race car along. Took a rally car last time! Do they have a section for stone chipped grumpy spunding race cars?

Do the large number of one postets, ie those that sign up just to tell us about one thing, or sell one thing, and never to be heard from again,, occupy site space, which may cause an overload of data stored? Is there a way to purge the one post only sign ups out? I got a pm couple days ago re the ARCRally Calder forum challenge, from a newbie sign up, that, lets face it, after that event is done and dusted, we will not hear from again. BTW i looked at a forum banner advert a couple weeks back, and have now booked a holiday in Vanuatu, at end of March, see, it does work!

Dunno your location young fella! But best bet will be in the country towns, or wreckers yards out in the sticks. Surprising what ypu can be lucky to find in old farm garages. Quite a few of these, along with the 260C and 280C models ended up as cockie cars. There is a yard out west south of Dubbo with a few old girls, also up at Richmond in nth central Qld, thete is a ripper of a graveyard full of oldies. Was thete about 5 year ago, cant fully recall, as was on a Variety Bash, and things got a bit legless, often!

March 9 to 11 2012 Phillip Island Classics. hUGE historic event
dat2kman replied to dat2kman's topic in Racing Your Car
Ash, If it is a production based sports car, and has a logbook, with races entered into the logbook ie scrutinerrs notes signatures dates and tracks/events, and, these dates are prior to December 1980, the car qualifies as a Group T car. Ie most of the racing Bolwells, your fathers, Tsakmakis, Webb, Alan Edwards ( i was a student at a school he worked at) plus many others. Main issue is presenting the car in its as raced then spec, not its "now"more recent post 1981 marque sporys spec. Photos from meetings, race results sheets, printed programs, articles in motorort press, all help to verify the car. The elegibility officer for gp T will have to confirm the car and its spec. Good thing is, you only have to pick one race, ie one point in the time of the cars spec, as they wete getting modded from event to event, so just say, pick the November 1980 Calder meeting, to present the car as it "was"then. I know Ran was a masywr at modding cars from one meeting to the next! What is NOY gp T is one off non prod based cars, these fall into gps OQR etc. The gp T guys running , 8 now, just need more cars to be put back together, logbooked and cod'd and to get used at historic meets, in Qld, if we can get min of 15, we will be given our own grids. Nsw require approx 20 to make it worthwhile re event sceduling at a meeting. PI classic wont give us a grid unless we present at least 35 cars!! The whole crux of my above, is that the gp S mob are now dictating to event directors who to allow, and how to run events, worst of it is, they are not even historic cars. What the T guys need is to get off their apathetic bottoms, and get vocal, i do it enougj to the variuos historic clubs, but we need more to become vocal. Ian Tate knows Ran snr, get Ran to have a go to Tatey, about letting the T cars come out and encourage them etc I found one of Webbs good Bollies for sale, logbooks the lot, it'd make a cracker of a T car We are waiting for Cantwell to produce the logbooks for his cars, so research can be done! Whats the details on the E - Type?? -
March 9 to 11 2012 Phillip Island Classics. hUGE historic event
dat2kman replied to dat2kman's topic in Racing Your Car
It is a proper historic logbooked Group T, which is "production based sports car with a racing history prior to December 1981" as per CAMS requirements. CAMS has a vehicle compatability matrix, which indicates to event organisers, all the historic groupings, and which groups are best fit with other groups, pretty important when you think of the mismatches that can occur. My Dato is actually on CAMS website page of all the groups. In NSW and Qld, event promoters run races for say, " historic sporys cars groups T and S" just like races for Group C and A touring cars. Mine is a ptoper historic, not a fake. The fakes can get a "historic" logbook for $190, the proper cars have to pay $950, plus costs to elegibilty officers and vehicle examiners, prior to logbook and tje important "certificate of description" being granted. The fakes dont have a COD, but tjey like to strut atound and tell veryone tjey are historic. I'm spraying well here! He GSRA has 180 members, the Group T Association, has 15, guess who whinges tje most, and gets listened too! We know of a furyher 8 or 9 potential group T proper cars in Melbourne!! Fernandi D Alberto and Tom Cantwell, and Lindsay Drif Zed cars all count, Lurches dad has 2 Austin Healeys, lou mndello has Tom Cantwell Datsun 2000, Paul Trevethan MG giy has 2, BUT, when absolute bull shyte like this goes on, by a CAMS car club at a historic meeting, these otjer cars wont want to come out and play in a hurry. I have been pushing for Gp T for a while, but when farkwits like the Vic Healet arzeholes carry on, tje Pukka Brit boys etc, tjey just dont like JapCrap. There are three T cars that also have S logbooks, cos its cheaper, but tje S guys dont mind them, cos tjeyre British. Hets a fun fact, apoarently MGB's " wete"sold brand new.with a Weber carburretor, APPARENTLY, so now tjey all can use a Weber. When the Zed guys ask for the proof and what needed to be shown, ie so we can get triple mikunis and bigger brakes, we are told, sorry no, that info is for MGB guys, you have to prove Zeds wete sold NEW with bla bla bla fitted Ffs we race against bloody fourwheel disc Porkets and V8 detomatoes, nt the brit rust shyte, but no.. No wonder Pete Hall got the tomtits, and resigned from CAMS commisdion. I just like being a farken PITA, and will continue, while i can! -

Monitor my rhread in race ypur car section, I'm waiting for confirmation that I can run the 280Z as they have delightfully rejected my entry in the Dato 2000 -
Over weekend of 9 to 11 March, PI hosts Australias biggest historic race and regularity event, with over 500 competing cars. In regularity, there should be some Z's, and in Group S ( two full grids of 50 plus reserves) thete should be some Z's Unfortunately, due to pressure brought to bear in Micheal Holloway of the Mini Car Club of Vic, by the 180 strong membership of the Group S racing Association, they jave demanded that no genuine original historic prod based sports cars be allowed to race alongside all the non-historic Group S prod sports cars? So, this means the Datsun Sports 2000's of Jason Lea, and Brian Henderson, have had their entries rejected. These two cars are genuine historic cars, not like the johnny come lately group S that have NO history requirement. Are YOU pizzed off at not seeing these two little giant killing Datsuns?? Then get off your bottoms, and email or write to VHRR and ask them to make sure they include ALL genuine historic cars in the future. The might of a 180 strong group has brough sufficent pressure to bear on the event organiser to NOT allow true cars to race. Boycott Group S, cancel your membership, yeh right, they are all oh so pukka grpoup british!! Check out tje verbal spray the Healey Club of Vic gave Jadon, in 2010 Google it up and post a link. Oh the positive bit!! I have adked if i can run the gp S 280 z in the fake historic races with all the other fake historic cars Hopefully i get to visit you Sothern Brethren, agin!! Yeehaa!

Nup, stockos wont work, duty cycle too high, theyll burn out. Go and buy some fresh ones. If you need good fuel supply, i got a set of 480cc injectors that will fit, you just have your tuner pull back group fire sequence time interval, but at least you can determine where in the duration cycle of the cam you want them to fire and for how long. Vl turbo injectors will be on upper end of duty cycle, i think they are around the 280 cc mark, stockos are around 180 cc

Looks like it's all full on turbo babies hete! Whers the good 'ol atmo L boys! I just mine are all usefull where i want them to be usefull. The first question i always ask the dyno operator is, " where is peak torque, where does it start to be usable, and where does it peter off" Peak rpm high HP is just bragging rights ,cbf! -

Matt, not a problem, especially in the Truckster of Lurve! PI is on weekend of 9 to 11 march, im based in Heidleburg before and after, just need someone to get to thete, as i'll have a trailer connected, its a steep street, and cant disconnect. Ill be heading back north early am on the wednesday after PI Courier services extraordinaire strikes again!!! -
+1 for Lucas TRW. Using these on Dato 2000 race car were very good T Bathurst, 5 or 6 lap races, as well as all other tracks. For single lap events ie a hill climb or a single run street sprint, i have a set of new old stock soft standard asbestos pads! NLA On the 280 race car, ill swap between Bendix Race, Lucas TRW. Ferodo DS race pads turned to crumble dust after one meeting, due to excess heat EBC many years ago, in Greens or Reds were great, but they make them with excess leading/trailing edges chamfered, so you are not getting full pad contact until 1/3 worn. Their Yellows are full race and harsh on rotors I dont like Bendix Ultimate, again with hard race use, very harsh on rotors. Tried QFM race, quite expensive, better value elsewhere. Stick to Lucas TRW, cheap cheerfull, and surprisingly will take higher heat input temps than many others, second would be the Hawks, only thing is, they have so many compounds it is all a bit confusing on their site! Some tarmac rally guys love the carbon metallic compounds from Hawk dunno which compound numbers, agian, a bit confusing. Matt, please give us a simple explanation of their rangesand uses.

Aussie Post!! it'll get lost! surely you could drop it in one day in the future, when you're over this way visting Richard, Wilbur or Roddy??? It'd be in safe hands then!

Yes, the softcover book, in white, with a small picture of the 280zx in the middle!! Been gone for 7 years now! Becoming a book stalker now! Hqs anyone on here seen one of these, it was a Nissan publication, able to be bought in motoring bookshops, mid 1980's? I got a couple of other Z books in tje collection, and no, not lending for another 7 years,,,, "A 40 year history of the Z sports car in Australia" by John M Wright PhD "Lust then love - the story of the new Z" by Ron Sessions "the complete Datsun guide" Michael Hollander printed early 1980's And "Petersons The complete Datsun" also early 1980's All have various bits of info, specs and pics on the ZX's

I dont get it, why be elitist, and decree only this model can join, etc. They are all Z's, we all love and appreciate them! The Z car club in Qld doesnt discriminaye, and is not that elitist ( a few think the Pres is a bit odd!), they even accept the true original first ever Datsun Sports cars in their ranks, even though it hoses most of them off! To have clubs fracture, become one model specific, in the current day and age with rising costs, lack of cars left, etc, is a recipe for disintegration of a club. Old hairy chestnut here, but, what if the z car nats just stuck to one specific? The event would fold, or at minimum, just become a bit of a gathering in a motel carpark at a nice coastel town, where they all just lift bonnets, ,aybe go for a drive, as the cost of doing "more" is too high.. Better to embrace at minimum all Z, Zx, and new Z, or go further and accept all Nissan Datsun, god forbid! I look at NDSOC, strong, healthy, active, lots of varied membets, all encompassing, gets invites to plenty, runs plenty,, marvellous! Sure, pay homage to the S30 body, it is a succesfull point in time for a car manufacturer, and there are many worldwide in past, today, and no doubt future, that will revete this series of Z car. They are increasing in value, so if ypur thinking about getting one, do so, or thinking about selling, ,aybe re-asses and keep it. FWIW, there is only one S30 280Z in Australia, but plenty in the USA!
-
The official colur names are in that book you borrowed!
-
The 280 Z is the same body shell as the 240Z and 260Z! It wasnt sold in Australia, but plenty sold in the US. Unless you are refferring to the ZX, which i suspect you are!

dat2kman replied to dat2kman's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
yeah yeah, Dimitri walked me though it this morning! Ports are nothing huge, as it was on a 2.4 litre, they were after velocity and air fuel swirl and atomisation, so there is now plenty of scope for any future porting! It is the injection head, has threaded holes for inject mani, as well as the SU mani The closed chambers on a 2.8 will give some decent compression though! -
