  1. Mate go for it, they are a great little car. I've stayed away from them as I want to stay out of jail....no not speeding, I would have to kill the first little beared man who said 'hey nice MGB you got there..', Lock stock and two smoking barrells, Vinny Jones style, head in the door!! bang bang bang.......I better calm down, I'm just heading off the the MGcc's historic meet at Baskerville..deep breath, deep beath.
  2. Come on fella's, talk t it up a little, compared to an XU-1 there worth double the $29 grand he is asking!!
  3. Same car? It's a good looking jigger!!
  4. I just brought a new windscreen for my 240Z through the local Novus guy, took a few weeks, but I got one no stress.
  5. Great work Jason, did Siddens clean them up? and did Peter hall get there for a run?
  6. I've said this before, but the only way to change is to form a lobby group of like minded people, the more the better, then get members elected on the relevent boards and force the changes you want! If there is enough intrest out there and people willing to push it, change will happen....look at Group C historics, Sports sedans historics, the recent changes to Classic gravel rallying and the fantastic new Clubman rally class. I've heard this guff for over 20 years now on various motorsport subjects as an event organiser, Club President and former CAMS State council delegate, if YOU want change YOU have to do something, It's not up to CAMS, AASA to read your mind, you, and a group of your like minded mates have to tell them. Why not form a Historic Marque sports group and start from there? sometimes you have to fight to win off the track so you can win on the track! If you need a hand please dont hesitate to contact me.... Hodgo
  7. Hhhmm is it still in Qld? Is it now red or BRG? If it's red does it come to Tassie once a year to stretch it's legs? If it's green does it fang around Tweed heads once a year? Or am I miles off the pace? or Is it red and lives in Vic now? Used to go to Adelade once a year and scare Porsches? or again am I miles off the mark. Or is it not as well known as the above...
  8. Big sam was a legend, and gave another legend, win Percy his big start, tough car! I love the picture of the guy in the crossed up Fraser Nash on page 56, thats what you call a serious race face! LOL
  9. I was cleaning up my shed a few months ago and got distracted with some old Aust. Rallysport news magazines and found this ripper in the Jan 1996 issue.....a little bit lower than 00053! love the fact of 39 starts and 2 DNF's and also notice the advert above it....the young owner has gone on to win an event or two!! Prices havn't gone up a whole heap in the past 14 odd years. I like the fact that it has correct build date as well.... Does anybody know anything about this car, Jason..., and is it still about and racing?? Hodgo
  10. Mine is a Supercheap Jobbie Big'n, and my poor lonely L28 has been on it since late 2008 with no problems, hope this helps.
  11. It's settled then, we'll have to have a Zed owners of Tas 2 stroke ride day....I'm sure Scando is very keen!! Sorry KatoKid, way off topic, but you understand how it is.....
  12. Bugger, I thought you were on about the new 'Burg 2 strokes..... LOL
  13. Holy Smoke!! Thanks for the reply's guy's, my man with the rotary die grinder want's a redline, and only a redline, so I brought a new one......waaay less than half price of the ebay one. Looks like's most of it will end up on a workshop floor!! I'll have two for sale soon....they wern't redline. catch ya, Hodgo
  14. If you have one please send me a PM, Cheers, Hodgo
  15. That look's like the one we used, but a lot cheaper. I'm a bad example, because the car is being panel beated and repainted, so we weren't to worried about being nice on paint etc, also my guard lips were cracked, so we tig'd them up after they were stretched which might effect things as well. Basically we found it would go as far as you wanted!, I used wheel spacers on the last few passes to push it out that last bit. The roller has been posted to Sydney for a mate to use on his Capri, and he pumped the guards around 10-15mm to get his superlites under. Hope this helps?
  16. Good luck for your Dad today, it will be interesting to see the time improvements. With the launch control on the MSD is there a wheel sensor to pick up wheel spin? My understanding of traction control is the computer senses wheel spin then retards or limits the engine rpm until the wheel spin stops? Does your system just limit the rpm at 4000 until you push the clutch and change into second? Like you said it would be very, very handy at hillclimbs and the drag's, I might have to send my Motec back and get a box ticked... Cheers, Hodgo
  17. Mind you she has had a lot of Plastic surgery done as well......
  18. How much caster can you dial in Dimitri before you run into trouble?
  19. G'day Pedro, I've fiited some on mine, and basically we gave it a big roll job with a guard rollar to get them under. It ended up with mini(tiny)-flairs and I'll be using a fair bit of camber as well to get them under the front with 225/50 but with 205's they should fit a lot easier. With the standard guards they stuck out around 10-20mm both front and rear with 225/50 tyres. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4416.0.html My tyre guy said the Superlites only came in the 1 offset, so that's what I got. I was told the Rota's will fit under better, but I got these new for nix, so that ruled out the Rota's, lol. If your after Semi-slicks/race tyres the 205 and 225's in 16's are very well catered for as it is the major size used by the classic tarmac rally guy's. I think Dimitri (Zedman240) has them or has used them in the past as well?
  20. OK, anyone got a good starting point? I could write page's of suggestion's for the 1600, but the Zed to me is an unknown..... On the 1600 there is a front and rear 'magic' ride hight number, is there one for the Zed, or do you aim to get the suspension arms horizontal to the ground, then work on your bumpsteer etc from that?
  21. Howdy guy's after reading the comments on the 'Zed's in the wet', I thought it might be handy to have a page where some basic and safe road settings could be published, both front and rear. I sure would be handy for the newcomer to have a starting point? Eg toe, camber, caster for both front and rear and if it's different between the two seaters and 4 and 280zx's as well? Race set-up's might be a mine feild, but again a basic, what works well, set up might be a handy thing? If only for a starting point. Also what can you get, toe, caster, camber wise with a std set up and what's a good plan of attack for doing mod's. What do you think? Hodgo
  22. LOL sorry, looks like I was way off target! I was talking cams and wanting to keep it on the boil...
  23. Other than a 240K 4 speed, they are the closest ratio's Datsun made in a factory box. Slipping in a 76 hey Lurchy? What you really need buddy is a LD crank if you want to go fast....
  24. Sound's like a great weekend fella's. I'd love to have a run next year, and If I can talk my number loving mate from Hobart, and that bloke with the LS-1 and an exhaust shop in Devonport we should bring over a Tassie team. 2 day's of racing make it very attractive to come over on the boat. Is Craig's brother running his Zed? it would be interesting to compare his times to the Devenishes etc....
  25. I dont know about legallity on the road, but on a race car this might be a solution? Try your local nut and bolt place for the rosejoints and long nuts, I brought some nut's the same only shorter for mine. you might need special tapered bolts between the rosejoint and the steering arm, they use them in openwheelers, clubmans, sprintcars, speedway stuff a lot. You can dial out some bumpsteer with setup as well. I've had the photo's awhile, sorry if they were yours... Hodgo
