  1. Hi guys, Can anyone identify what model these SUs are, were pulled from an L28. Also an idea of a rough value on them? Cheers
  2. Soda only removes paint not rust too
  3. I got my grille blasted and it was ok, they should probably do it with glass beads rather than garnet. Only thing that got damaged was the ally rivets in the slat support brackets. Would do it again.
  4. No, there was a sticker on the radiator support panel.
  5. 904 white is the Nissan white, looks like it was brown originally?
  6. I'm a fan of the white, Japanese race cars are traditionally white. I'd go with the original Nissan white since it sounds like you are keeping it relatively stock aside from engine.
  7. 2+2 is 150kg heavier than a coupe (2 seater). You need a '74 260Z 2 seater or a US 280Z to be competitive. Save your pennies and put them towards one of these if you want to run in Sc
  8. Good work Jeff. Another way to clean up the rust areas under the bonnet skin where you removed the section is to blast it outside with a hand held garnet gun. You end up covered in garnet but it removes all the rust and you can then hit it with zinc gal. To reduce warpage when you are doing large flat sections, just do it one tack at a time and move around the patch using an air gun to cool it down, it looked like you had run a bead along the join, it should be a series of spots. I would recommend James at MIA for engines, but it wouldn't be home built then!
  9. Lynton I would be interested if the other guy passes. Send me a PM. Cheers
  10. Quote from Gav: "Then you quench it with a wet rat." I thought that was a rather sadistic approach to heat shrinking lol.
  11. Good work Jeff. I noticed that the second nose cone has had an additional plate welded on where it rests on the car, it might be worth trying to fix the rusty one by cutting out the rust. Pretty much all zed bonnets have had a hit in the nose so you might want to fix the one you have. I have found that a crumpet wheel like you had on the grinder is best for stripping paint and bog, lots of dust but more pleasant than paint stripper and doesn't leave disc marks in the metal like the flap discs. Getting the panels blasted is the easiest option, which you might want to do after you repair the main rust areas, get them to epoxy prime the panels. Cheers
  12. Good work Gav, maybe make up a mitre box so you get the angles right. I suspect there might be a demand as the brackets always break if the grille gets hit and can't be welded. Cheers
  13. I don't think the quality of the new Webers is as good as original Italian Webers. I'd save up for triple Mikuni's if I had to have triples.
  14. Jason I recommend Advanced Abrasive Blasting at Brookvale. Gav let me know if you book in to motorretro as they are my old TAFE teachers, would come and check out the car and give you a hand if they will let me.
  15. That would offend the OEM gods Peter!
  16. You can't weld the brackets either as I discovered. TAFE teacher blew holes in them with the TIG. The slats are finicky but you can straighten them. I might have some supports I made that I would sell if you are interested.
  17. Demand is probably falling as the people who grew up with these cars are getting too old to drive/are no longer around. Probably why more modern stuff like R32GTRs are going up now as those who grew up with them in the 90 ' s can now afford them. I would still love an A9X though.
  18. Looks like a good project, will be interesting to see it come together. The floors didn't look too bad in the video. You may want to see if the chassis can be straightened first before investing more time in it. Good luck with the build and the videos will help others in a similar situation. Cheers
  19. Does your current one leak? Give it a clean and put it back in if it holds water. A recore would be around $500 but originals look much better than ally. That looks like a 240Z auto radiator to me.
  20. Make the guy an offer, I think the asking price is optimistic given its condition. You'd want to sure the fire hasn't warped it too badly but it might be in your budget, you won't find many 2 seaters under 10K.
  21. Dragway may be worth talking to as well. I would love a set of Kobe Seiko works wheels in original dimensions, prefer the works 4 spokes to the rally wheels. You could add extra material to them so they would not have to be lifed.
  22. Looks good, did you go 2 pack or acrylic?
  23. Let me know if you need any spare drivers for the Lemons ☺

Do you have a pic of the badges?
  25. Rover V8s are awesome! Especially with downdraft carbs and straight pipes!☺
