  1. I like the purple color. Is that the factory dark purple metallic perchance?
  2. Nice work on the exhaust. Do you know why they use 409 stainless for the mufflers and Cat rather than 316? Why did you need to run a cat? I was thinking of doing a stainless exhaust on a stock L26 with just a hot dog muffler. Would that work or be too loud? Cheers
  3. The G-nose cars used to run 15x10 inch wheels on the front (the works cars)
  4. Don't make me replicate QA paint markings, I'll do it, I swear...
  5. Gloss or satin black? About to get them blasted and painted. Cheers
  6. I'd start attacking the spare Gav if you think yours is too far gone, is your spare vented or non-vented? I think I'm up to about 60 hours on my bonnet now, in retrospect I should have found a better one but have learnt a lot through doing it. Probably better to learn on your damaged one as I managed to put a little bit of warpage in mine, even though being very careful with heat in mig welding. Good luck, they are getting harder to find.
  7. Have you tried Autolac, they may have it in the DeBeer brand. Other option is Spies Hecker, look up the distributors on their website. The pic doesn't look that close to it. Other option is Auto One, they were able to do 918 orange in acrylic from the code alone. You may be able to get a liter of it to see if you like it. If you do, I'd go clear over base for the car. Cheers
  8. Good work Jeff. I have been applying standard body filler over epoxy primer too, however I scuff the primer with sandpaper first to give it a good key to stick to. I likewise am not a fan of filler on bare metal. Cheers
  9. Nice find, love the Emerald green, one of my favorite colors too. Pretty rare in zeds.
  10. Good work Gav. I didn't think they ever used lead based paint on car panels though, I thought they only did that for house paint. I did my bonnet with a crumpet wheel, working around so as not to put too much heat into it. Many hours were spent crumpet wheeling! Will be interesting to see how you go, I may try separating the skin on one in future.
  11. Suzuki Vitara, 2.4L petrol so pretty efficient, parts prices cheaper than European cars. Decent amount of power. I've had Subaru's before and was not a massive fan, the EJ22 Liberty was a gutless wonder and they are very heavy cars. Parents have the Vitara and it goes well. Failing that I'd go a Commodore station wagon, parts widely and cheaply available, V6 not too bad on fuel.
  12. Please slow down George you are making us all look bad! Looks nice, amazing given how it was when you got it. A testament to Paul's workmanship. Safari Gold should look good.
  13. Could it be registered with the current (re-stamped) engine no?
  14. Anyone coming down from Brisbane to Sydney that could bring these down for me? Heeellpppp....
  15. Yep your old one looks like 110 red Gav. It seems to me there are a lot of red zeds, I prefer the 918 orange. Maybe a lot got resprayed red. Nice original car here, don't buy a house, buy this!
  16. I'd say it's more likely to be 110 red Gav. I bought a liter of 918 orange (tan) and it is a lot more orange than that.
  17. You learn something new every day...
  18. Check out VDO, they are good quality with eBay sellers
  19. I would have thought that you adjust the beam of the headlights by the adjusting screws on the headlight buckets - headlights should be set up to aim straight, not at the other side of the road. I have never heard of LHD bulbs, that sounds like nonsense to me, globes do not differentiate between LHD and RHD cars.
  20. Nice looking car, is that 110 red Gav? Hope it stays here and is kept original (with maybe a factory manual conversion).
  21. Thanks Mick, will send you a pm closer to then. Cheers Alex Jeff if I don't find any I may get the one I have straightened, could have done it at TAFE if they hadn't shut the course down
  22. Hi Jason, was just after those two brackets as one of them got bent beyond repair (without access to a 100 ton press and a jig to restraighten it!). Do you know of anyone in Qld who may have some spares? Cheers Alex
  23. Still chasing some of these.
  24. It sounds like you would be better off selling this one and buying a fully restored one when you have the space/funds. It is pretty much always cheaper to buy a finished one than restore one yourself. They really need to be garaged too, you don't want to leave it outside or it will start rusting again. Good luck.
  25. Thanks Gav, looks like I missed out though. Still chasing a pair if anyone has some.
