  1. Merry Christmas.
  2. i ended up buy the same seats but not fixed back. Very happy with them
  3. yes thats correct, shorter rams give better low down and longer give better mid range, something like that could be the other way around. You can still roughly balance them just by the shaking of the motor on idle, if it is shaking badly then one or more carbs are out of balance. Keep adjusting til the motor is running smoothly. That should keep you in the ball park for now. Edit: im not trying to make myself a expert as im far from it just hope some of it helps you.
  4. To use the uni-sync you have an adjustment needle in the middle of the airflow meter, adjust that anti-clockwise and that will measure a lower volume of air. But in saying that i think you can still sync your carbs at 2000rpm if you chose to. Shame about the ram tube.
  5. Much better day today, took the manifold off, put some goo on and bingo i can tune it and the popping has stopped. Took it for a quick run and no hesitation anywhere. I should have know better about tuning these carbs after playing with little nitro cars for awhile where air leaks a critical. Thanks for your help guys much appreciated.
  6. yes warren thats definatley one thing is i noticed there is little difference when i wind the mixture screw out, as i understand it the procedure is 1: make sure linkages are operating corectly - Done 2: balance the carbys with air metre - Done 3: set the mixture for each carby by letting the motor idle and then richening each carby until the revs of the motor drop slightly and then its Qtr turn back to lean. - NO GO I havent been able to achieve step No.3 yet. I bought new softmounts aswell as a new manifold to try and elimate air leaks. As a rule i dont gasket clue the intake manifold on so i dont have to get a new gasket every time i take the inlet manifold off. I shall do it tomorrow and see how it goes. probably where its leaking
  7. I shall have another look and drive tomorrow, hesitation is there full time but, i have to see if it hesitates after cruising on 3500rpm or under 2000rpm. I can see where your going i think I get popping through the exhaust on decompression and a little on acceleration. Should i just keep letting the mixture out til the popping stops through the carbs or is that making things worse. I fear more pooping in the exhaust on decompression. But it sounds good and im going for some decent flame out of the exhaust jks. More trial and error tomorrow Ended up getting to warm today thrashing the poor 2.6 At one stage my eyeballs were stuck to the windscreen thinking my carby's were on fire and panicked even further when one realsied there was no extinguisher in the car. Its always my fear when fitting carbys. Thanks scoota will have a look for some jets. Cheers lads
  8. Hi, i just put my dellortos on yesterday and today took them for a bit of a spin. So far some hesitation when you first put the pedal down. Running 2psi in fuel with a restricted return line. I get a lot of popping but it gets better the more i open the fuel mixture. I have read to start with 2 1/2 turns out but im more like 4 turns out. heres a list of what i am running. I sometimes have to nurse it through the revs at the bottom end. If i was to cruise in 5th the motor would more likely die then rev out. it feels like its drowning a little down low. All carbys have been balanced and a new set of plugs have been fitted. L26 stock extractors and elect dizzy:- L26 DHLA40 Chokes 30mm Idle holder/emmulsion tube 7850.1 main jets 132 air correctors 180 emmulsion tubes 7772.5 idle jets 45 air bleeds dont need to be restricted on my carbys Acc pump jets 40 Is there anything that stands out to anyone?, which jet should i be looking at to improve my hesitation. Im not after super performance, just trying to get the best out of em with out spending big as these carbs are really for my next motor and most of the jets/chokes will get changed out of these. BTW i love the induction sound
  9. im going away again for a short camping trip on the 27th my triples may or may not be sorted by then anyhow.
  10. just finished bolting on my 40's, turned the key and not enough oooomph to get going. anyway i knew i wouldnt have made it today. Plus it is very busy time of year getting the house ready for Xmas and what not.
  11. I think what he wants is to take off his EFI and bolt on some carby's.
  12. Try feeling for the binding aswell as hearing with your spare hand.
  13. If its performing well now then nothing is lost but.....If your "A" plan was flattops and he couldnt do it he should have rang you and told you about plan "B" instead of going ahead and doing it. At least you both would have been on the same page. I can certainly see why you would be disapointed and then the mind boggles as to what else was/wasnt done. If i were you id be sorting out your 5500rpm flatspot and getting your dizzy (can make big difference) matched aswell. Then throw it on the dyno as im sure you will be pleasanlty surprised. BTW i will be running N42/F54 combo with flattops with the required headwork to make 10-1 comp.
  14. Best thing about a 2+2 is the whole family can enjoy it. congrats
  15. This site has been good to me with some pretty helpful people on here. Donation done.

    Building a L28

Progress has been a little slow but good things take time. Len is fairly busy at the moment but a few things have been done. Crank has been cleaned up and hot bathed, the block has been hot bathed and shot peaned (spelling) and checked to be true, the head has been cleaned with the injector notches welded. Cam has been reground 72 degrees, i dropped the clutch off to him Exedy ceramic button clutch. Fly wheel has been balanced and lightened aswell. He told me he really likes to put in time and get things perfect but sadly the real jobs that make real money are taking precedence which is fair enough considering. Im expecting it back and all together by the end of Jan as he said he should be quite after christmas. shall keep you posted.
  19. cheers mate.
  20. i might pm him.
  21. Hi, Question for mick74, i just been doing some reading around and we (myself and friend) are in need of the idle restrictors for our dellortos. My set is DHLA40 with no following letter while my friend has DHLA40F's all matching. Is it possible that you can sell these mick?
  22. have a great christmas every one hope you have a great christmas everyone im going on holis then getting back do my triples im still deciding on what mani then i might see if i can get 550rhpw out of my 260 yer yer mines faster than yours so dont come knocking or i do a burn out on ya head! i also need to know can i run a triple turbo blu thru from my brake booSt.......IM SURE I HAVE SEEN IT SOMEWHERE ON YOU_TUBE SO I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!!! rock on

  24. Looks a great day, i had a opportunity to exchange gear boxes yesty and get my old one ready for the new motor. We then found the uni's in the T/S needed doing aswell so that was my day. Sorry i couldnt attend. There was quite a few triple setups i really wanted to have look at to. Well done to all the guys organising these meetings.

    Linkage kits

Thanks dimitri, you have helped me decide. just going to make our (myself and mik) own linkages and will drill and tap some holes for the linkage mounts with the lynx manifold. Im still trying to see why people dont rate the lynx manifold? is it because it isnt plug and play??
