  1. That can and I used to run a reluctor based sensor but that was only good for the earlier Wolf ECU that batch fired the injectors/spark plugs. Reason for the CAS sensor is the ability of the sensor to show ECU cylinder posi 1, whereas the reluctor cannot tell which is number 1 cylinder to the ECU. The current Wolf V500 that I'm using is sequential in firing injectors and spark; ie one plug/injector at a time. Saves fuel!
  2. There's that big argument about which zeds were built first; HLS30 under chassis number 500 or HS30 under 500. A lot of people think HLS30 were built in late 69 and exported to the US before any other market and that car #13 was the first zed to be sold to the public. I'm trying hard to find a date stamp on my zed to get an accurate date of manufacture. Found a "27" but who knows... I'll have to take a pic and ask Alan!
  3. One that has yet to see this video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6qhZZU-w6Y
  4. Is the battery area as good as it looks? or has it been repaired before? can't quite tell from that angle. looking real good there..
  5. With the Wolf V500, it gets the load signal from the TPS vs RPM. If the RPM's are low and the throttle position is for example over 90%, it knows its under a fair bit of load. There is provision on the ECU to connect a hose for manifold vacuum but I didn't bother. Also, the throttle bodies I'm using have been designed to bolt onto a Weber type manifold. There is nothing left of the RB25 setup under my bonnet anymore. As for which way you want to go, whatever works the best without spending a heap will be the best way to go. Just research all the different setups you can use and see which one works out for best performance without taking out another home loan. I'd probably get a triple manifold modified to fit injectors near the head and use the GTR throttle plate.
  6. I had an old magazine that showed how to restore original alloys on a MX5 and make them look like Watanabe's and I remember them saying if you had access to a large lathe or a wheel balancer that would help with the polishing of the lip. It can be done by hand but will take many hours. I'm not sure of the original colour of the 260 mag wheel inserts...but I think they had a clear laquer coating to protect them but as I'm sure everyone has seen, goes yellow with age. I think a nice polish with a real dark gunmetal grey on the rough surface near the center will look great.
  7. Small update, had the distributors (yes, two of them, something that hard to come by you need to have a spare!) modified and installed. Just need to wire it up which is no big deal, only three wires; +12, Ground and Signal (60'). Friend helped replace the heater hoses from under the dash and next on the list is to mount the coil pack on the spark plug side of the engine. After that, and need to put wheels and tyres on the car, I can try and crank for the first time! youtube vid will follow..
  8. Thanks Gareth, it explains it very well.. I thought you installed a completely separate twin system from the extractors twin secondaries all the way to the back. Yours is a clever way to have a twin system but with the quietness of a single. I had a twin all the way with two hotdogs (one for each 2" pipe) all the way to the back which was very loud as you revved up. Sounded great but for sure will get "pinged" for excessive decibels at any track. I am looking into a good quiet twin system soon..
  9. Hey Gareth, I'd leave the exhaust cutout there just in case you need it in the future.. Also, you said this system was not much louder than your old setup, just curious what mufflers are you running in the center? I had a twin system earlier on my zed with just hotdogs and that was way too loud for the street. Did you run at the Island with the twins?
  10. Looks great! Is that a late model 76-77 one? Looks like you have found a nice car to start with.. well done.
  11. Only news so far is finished plumbing the fuel lines, need some 10mm heater hose, going to take some pics of the modified L28ET distributor to post up and looking for a contortionist to help me replace the heater hoses under the dash. My intrusion bars of the roll cage make it impossible for me to do it so just have to ask some friends..After the dizzy is wired in, just have to bolt up the inlet/exhaust manifold and try and start it!
  12. Excellent Mike! Now the fun begins! Took me about 3 - 4 months to put a 260 2 seater back together from a rolling shell...mind you had to track down all the glass, fuel tank, engine and radiator....hope you have labeled all the boxes and bags of parts you have stashed somewhere..
  13. I'm pretty sure that's where I got my one from. Probably the easiest and quickest way! Thanks Add!
  14. Ok, as an example; you are with a group of friends in a public area and one of your mates has a huge snot on their cheek and hasn't noticed. Would you be the one to just point and laugh and not say anything or just politely say "you have something there"...pointing at it... With his zed, its not things his added to the body, its some stickers he's placed on the body like "TRD" and some others that aren't appropriate. I'm just trying to prevent him from being a laughing stock out on the road. I have never commented on anyones choice of spoiler, car colour or anything else but when you see something like that, something has to be said. I know it's his choice to put whatever he wants on his car but there are limits. I just mentioned it and that's as far as I've gone. It's not as if I tried peeling them off without asking him; it's his car and he will be the one driving it.
  15. Try a multimeter across the terminals while you turn the key to start, see what the volts go to. If it goes below 10.5 volts, battery is flat/shagged. How good is the battery? Have you tested it with a CCA load tester? Check all the connections for tightness and corrosion.
  16. Dont' worry RBZ, it's not your zed; the zed I'm thinking of isn't part of this forum. Some members here know of him, Ive asked him myself to remove those offending items from his car but he's refusing to. Next thing would be public shaming! It's not as bad as you think; it's just a tad too "ricey" for me. I need to have my camera ready now... around my area I've seen some real shockers! Makes you want to carry around some pepper spray just in case you accidentaly see one, to quick sprays and that would give some relief!
  17. I hope we have sensible mebers here and you won't have to worry, and if it happens, they deserve to be tarred and feathered! PS. I know of one but I hope he changes his mind real quick and undoes the eyesores.....not on the forum by the way..
  18. hey Lynton, Just curious, the lens covers where they a dealer option or fitted after?
  19. It's 41Mb, might be quicker if I posted a CD? Or if you are ever in Moorabbin, bring a USB drive etc...What size limit does Hotmail have?
  20. Front bumpers should be the same! Unless there's something seriously wrong with that one.
  21. Did you apply for CH or normal reg? Just curious on the 2 week wait.....
  22. Nothing beats the original publishing of the Nissan workshop manual. Have one for a 240Z in PDF if you need one.
  23. Just read up on these new Synergy engines.... completely made in NZ..well done! 92kg, is that the same as a L series exhaust manifold?
  24. Hey Glen, Hope you won't regret it; when you get rid of this one, finding another one will be a miracle! Good luck anyway...
  25. Dodgey battery terminals can do strange things sometimes... leave the lights on and twist the battery terminals...if they come on, there's your problem. Clean them very thoroughly!
