  1. Just noticed you still have that 280ZX oil filter adapter thingy installed.. You can remove it if you want..it's only there to clear the steering components on a 280ZX.
  2. Excellent!..that will make a nice avatar pic now when they are installed on your zed.
  3. Huge improvement! That's how a zed engine bay should be; clear and uncluttered..Nothing pisses me off more than dodgey wiring especially if it's unnecessary.
  4. Another thing to look for on the uni's is that rusty red/orange dust on them. means they are running dry with no grease and could be well worn. When I found that on one of my zed's that was giving me a mysterious "clicking" sound when accelerating.
  5. With the headlight assembly, it bolts in from the inside of the wheel well, with 4 small stainless or chromed M5 x 25mm screws into the guard. nose cone just bolts through into the guard with four M6 nuts as long as all the studs are still there on the headlight bucket! Make sure the headlight assembly, the grommet with the wires coming out is pointing towards the ground and the rubber gasket is on properly.
  6. You are right Gavin; I've seen the car also. Last I heard they sold it again to who I'm not sure. I can ask around in the NDSOC.. someone there should know of it's whereabouts. Next time I see it I'll be taking a heap of pictures of it. Good for reference on what goes where! Been talking to Rob at the Z factory again about this and he tells me he has some Nissan paper work with some details of HS30 cars being built in 69. I need to get my hands on that!
  7. Just checking if anyone needs an exhaust system for a 240Z or 2 seater 260Z. System is less than 500 km's old and is 2-1/4 with the minimal bends required rather than the two 90' to go from the diff to the back. Could be modified to fit a 2+2, but that's upto you! Has one hotdog and almost straight through rear muffler which gives a nice low note without that high pitched bark. Heres a video (with crappy audio) if you want to hear what it sounds like: I'm after around $180. Edit:::::::::: SOLD to the good Rev ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
  8. Yes, but by how much not sure. There's a 260Z 2+2 at a workshop near me that I frequent with a RB25DET with that sump fitted. At the lowest part, the sump is about 2-3 inches from the ground. It really needs to be modified. I should take some more pics for you while its still there..
  9. Yeah, I found a pic... You will see the sump has a lower rear part but then goes deeper again. That's the section you have to cut and just re weld. Also, grab the oil pickup and modify that to suit the sump.
  10. If you get a sump from a GQ Patrol, they have the hump to the back but its a little to low; you would have to remove some of it. When you see it you will know.
  11. I hope this doesn't turn into something like those 3D posters that have that hidden image....some can see it straight away, and others take some time ...FFS, can we just let it die?
  12. When I had my first 260, I used to drive it to Moorabbin airport, fill it with avgas along with a jerry can, crank up the timing from 10' to 15' and not worry about detonation! The L28 loved it and the smell was like Channel no5! Unless you run a cat converter, I wouldn't hesitate to run it again. Who would'nt like fuel with a 110 RON rating?
  13. I'm also out still....car needs an exhaust, wiring and a few more details....later in the month would be great!
  14. I think a good one to start with are alternators for a L series. I'll be doing alot of research into that area!
  15. All this is about being clear and easy to understand. There may be thousands of people who will be reading through this thread and the last thing we want is a thread or forum that doesn't make any sense. I'm sure the English lesson is over now...
  16. From memory you can buy some of the exotic fuels like methanol, C16 etc from large fuel distributors. Theres one in Dandenong but haven't been there in years. I'm sure they are all over the country.
  17. If you asked this question a couple of weeks ago, I couldv'e answered it! Had my ally one out of the car and have a spare 240Z original radiator laying around..There doesn't seem to be a huge difference, but if you can wait a little, uinless someone else answers it, I can.
  18. I think Mike was saying it should be "No, it's impossible". The "No" in front of the "not possible" is how can you say it..cancelling the "not" out?
  19. To check how much the head has been shaved, compare the little indentations on the head surface; I think from memory there are 3. One at each end and in the middle. They are about the size of a 1 cent piece maybe smaller, if you can remember them! Don't have a pic sorry..
  20. Not only that, they distort time and gravity and have a radioactive decay time of over 3 million years. They are only 150 or so years old now so they should be hanging around for a while.
  21. Nitrous is injetced into the cylinder because when it's burned, it creates oxygen which lets the petrol burn more efficientlyl; I've heard it called "chemical supercharging". I'm not sure if a very fine mist of water is sparyed near/on the intake air would cool it enough to make a difference.. Eh, just make sure your filter isn't around hot air and that should be enough!
  22. Then just add one of those fake blow off valve speakers and the set will be complete! I think that will equal minus 10 Hp at least.
  23. I once met somebody who told me some old guy gave him a convertible E Type Jag...for nothing...when asked "where is it?"....."oh...I sold it!"... yeah okay..
  24. On the British touring cars, I think most of them ran staged injectors in front of the trumpets as well as the injectors in the manifold. When they used to rev to some stupid number, the second group of four injectors would come on to supply that extra amount of fuel needed. Heres a quick video of an F1 engine with what looks like staged injectors on the top firing at high revs.. Sounds a bit out of sync but you'll get it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NHEAxKGw8Y As for power out of the L24, by the time it's built, it will have around 2700 odd cc's and I'm hoping for around 140+Kw at the wheels. All will be revealed later after the dynoing with the good motor. For now it's just a standard L24.
  25. That's looking excellent.. Probably the best place to put the injectors would be right next to the head like a 280ZX manifold. Next thing you will have to decide on is the fuel rail; how would it be held in place and bolted to? If you can get somebody to weld on the cast manifold, you should be able to devise a setup. That's why I chose those DCOE type throttle bodies....eliminates alot of stuffing around!
