WOW thanks heaps Lurch. I'm guessing since my car was made in September 1971... theres gonna be a 50:50 chance of me requiring a new drive shaft to complete this conversion, if i get a 260z or 280zx 5 speed gearbox.

- Transplanting r33 interior into a Zed. *probably an impossible article* Interior such as dash, seats and center console. - R200 diff conversion for each model-era cars. If possible include the new shortnose r200 conversion apparently being finalized by arizonazcar.

Very interesting responses which may lead me to open up more doors for this gearbox purchase. I'm more then happy to purchase pieces separately and I've pretty much found suppliers for them. It's just the T/O bearing sleeve that shits me. Everywhere i go the answer is no. Everything else i can pretty much get. Heaven forbid i have to go to a Zed wrecker to get it. I might need to sell half a liver again... i only just re-grew this liver. Not in too much of a rush. Well not for the next week and a bit i guess. Thanks for the response so far guys. Hi guys, since my panel beater is going crazy with the car, i thought I'd start collecting my auto-manual conversion parts now. That way when its done hopefully within the next few weeks i can get the conversion done asap. So I'm after a 5 Speed L-series Manual Gearbox with all associating parts like. eg. gearshift, internal components like Release bearing, T/O bearing holder, T/O springs, clutch fork, clutch fork boot, clutch fork pivot ball, spigot, clutch hose. Don't really need to worry about the clutch slave condition as it will be replaced. Parts i already have are the manual pedal box, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch and flywheel. So preferably I'd like a working 5speed L-series gearbox, from a 260z*fingers crossed*, that has basically just been dismantled off a car with all parts still hanging on it. I know its a long shot. But I'd prefer to look for this first then to start a whole collecting bazaar. I also may require a 5-speed propeller shaft, according to the Haynes book they were different for the automatic and the 5 speed gearboxes. I'm located in Melbourne. Prefer to pickup and to inspect upon purchase. So if you know off any wrecked manual 260z. Please feel free to private message me or post here. Your help is much appreciated.

OH god i love that car. I've seen the pictures on jdmstyletuning.com and its FANTASTIC! Love the Clean engine bay and the shiny triple webers as well as the track photos. The more i look at that car the more i crave to drive my Zed. Poor thing is still at the Hospital (Panel Beaters). *cringes* I think i've got withdrawal symptoms.

Ahh... that white tone... could have been a little brighter. The panel beater was mean to actually give us a palette to choose. But ultimately we just suggested white and it turned up like that. We could have gone the original white color but its hard to get the exact match. Unless you purchase it directly from Nissan for an extremely ridiculous price. So yea it did turn out super good though but needs a bit of work still. Theres a few stone chips already on the dog leg areas.

yea. mango wanted to get the rwc done there but the idea of a windshield being defected is... kinda well not as benefiting to the driver as say the hazards. We kinda think its pointless to change it... there is a few small tiny stone chips but everything is visible. No massive cracks. But RWC still wants it changed. Mango wants to claim the windshield on insurance. So yea... hazards RWC guy here we go rofl. He doesn't mind waiting 1 month to get everything done. I on the other hand am begging to take my Zed around.

WOW has it been that long. Not much has been done to my car within the last month. Merely perfecting and straightening the body before the inevitable respray. Can't really give a time line or a time frame at this point. HOWEVER I'd like to show some sneak shots of Mango's car. Still going through RWC, kinda have a problem with the hazard lights at the moment. The previous owner did a V8 conversion and at the same time hacked a lot of the cables so we have no idea where the hazards are going. It's just that once we turn them on our volt meter just hits 0. So i believe its shorting itself or grounding somewhere. Plans to fix that would be to wait for the head unit. So we can pull the dash apart and check all the cables behind there as well as wire up the new head unit. On the RWC note, i had one RWC guy who said he would pass us if we had the front windscreen replaced due to a few stone chips. I had another RWC place who said they'd pass us if we repaired the hazard lights.

I agree with Sulio and other members on this matter. Be patient. Take it from me, i jumped the gun, when i purchased my 240Z it was fairly decent compared with other cars. However for the price i paid... about a few weeks later after i purchased the car there was another 240Z, manual with l28 and in even better quality then my own go off for the same price i bought mine. I was shattered. ROFL. So yea be patient find something that is what your after. Now i have to do alot of rust repair a manual conversion and even maybe a l28 conversion if i have the money. So i have to spend a tonne more now then if i had waited a little bit for a nice one to come by. There are alot of gems that pop up every now and then. You might want to check out ozdat.com as well for listings on Zeds. Fu

I definately know i don't have one either on my 240Z. Its just the manufacturers plate. When i got the AE86 complianced they never gave us a compliance plate either. They said that cars that are post a certain age use the manufacturer codes as VIN numbers and stuff. I've also checked this up on some website about these VIN details and its also true that they just use the manufacturer plate for VIN(=chassis number). Fu

I feel your pain. I paid $180 for rear tail light gaskets at Nissan BRIGHTON. I've learnt my lesson too. US OEM parts easily 1/3rd of the price. I just bought a master and slave cylinder shipped to my door for $50. So yea... i don't think its worth getting anything from dealerships. I've lost faith in them.

I've done both. I hooked it up with the 260z casing but the problem is the bolts don't line up to the 240z holding brace out the back. Holding Brace: in the 240z there's a brace between the speedometer and the odometer making the installation tight and won't budge. Everything works. Hooking it up to the speedometer cable is fine. It's the same size plug. After i found out the brace wouldn't link up. I took the internals out of the 260z speedometer and and switched it with the 240z. It fits perfectly, with the brace because its a 240z speedometer housing. Now i have a km/hr for my 240z.

mmmm i believe our 260z's are km/hr I'm restoring a 240z which has mph for the odometer, I've used the 240z housing and the 260z internals and they fit perfectly and it works fine.

OH, learn something new everyday. I didn't realize the switch to the left of the steering column was the hazard lights. I tried the switch when i got the car. But there is a lot of rust and the bulbs were blown so i never got chance to check what the switch did. At least now i know what it is. Cheers

Yep, i got my rear spoiler from Ash. He pulls miracles. Hehehhehehe For that front spoiler. I'd recommend MSA. However if you need it earlier... check if AllZparts have it. BUT BE WARNED. if he says "we'll get them in by next week" go back to MSA. All details of why i say this can be read in my project section. Only buy from Allzparts if they actually have it in stock. Also are you after the fibreglass or the poly-urethane? I bought a poly-urethane one.

Hiya mossy, ummm there are quite a lot of types of airdams/spoilers. Can you post up a pic of which one your after?

Hi guys, Just a quick update with pics. Prepped and ready to paint flares. THANKS ASH! Prepped and ready to paint rear spoiler. THANKS ASH! The special customization you did to this one works a treat. Prepped and ready to paint front spoiler. Starting on the rear hatch. Going to get them to weld up those emblem holes. As i now have a rear spoiler. Prepped and ready to paint door. All holes been welded and sanded down. Prepped and ready to paint bonnet. Mmmm no holes. No Emblems. Gonna be a sleek look. Stay tuned guys. It's a bit slow at the moment because they have other cars that they are doing. Just a reminder they are doing mine last and at a low priority level due to the severity and complexity. They are also doing a Evo 3, one of their staffs car. A hilux ute, which looked like its been drifted into a pole. Yes they are literally cutting the cabin half way and welding another half cabin to it. As well as about 7 standard repair and paint cars. So its kinda hectic at the moment.

OK just got back from Panel Beaters after delivering the front spoilers. WOW they actually started on mine and at a incredible pace. Whats been done so far... - Engine bay rusted area's repatched most of them only need passenger fender hanger strip and firewall hole and that sections done - Several body welds. - They completed the roof and the windscreen holes, i honestly didn't even see this before but they did it. - Passenger side floor First off, I'm finally moving to image shack for posting images hopefully they work. *edit* it has now been moved to photobucket due to its crazy kickarse features. Now to the images. MMMM... plastic front spoilers... yum... Yea, some welding and patch jobs. Some pics of the damage done to the bonnet and doors. Pinholes galore. Stay tuned for more updates.
