  1. oooo very rare. Would cost a pretty penny for one of those as well. Best looking at overseas for that.
  2. Spare L28 engine, sold to me! it came with an electronic dizzy, what a bargain.
  3. unfortunately no delivery date has been set. It's one of those restoration projects that gets second priority over the everyday easy accident jobs. I know they've been working on a few projects as well other then mine. a RX7FC, Soarer, relic mercedes. They were very happy when i came in the other day so i hope its not too long. But then again i did say that for the last 6 months now. My full time contract ends within the next 3 weeks so i hope its done before then so i can go crazy with it. My plan is to re-assemble and roadworthy within 4-6 weeks. I know its a short time line, but i miss driving her :'( I would also need to look into the engine when it gets back as it no longer starts. But i hope thats just a fuel and battery issue. *fingers crossed* I would also need to re-assemble the locks and doors at the panel beaters as my garage has turned into my grandpas labyrinth and i dare not disturb it. As well as reconfigure those rear disc brakes. I've had the spacer installed now but i need to rewind the pads as its pushed out and wouldn't let the car move. I basically removed the pads so that the PB's could move it around. I've done so much brake work that i believe this would not take too long. The learning curve with this fair.... lady. *pun intended* fufu
  4. Hi guys, i know many (none) of you guys are asking what happened to this project. So today i had a chance to go to the panel beaters and check it up first hand. They have just finished the final prep coat, using a product called U-POL. I've done a bit of research on this product and its actually an easy product to use and easy to shape and mold. Being non-porous, what i was after, it also prevents the water & air from getting to the metal (rust). I've also purchased a set of triple webbers and have been buffing it out. But it looks like i will need to get them rebuilt. OK, so to the ever waiting pictures. What has been done currently is the doors, flairs, front spoiler, rear spoiler have now been painted with its first coat. Hopefully the rest will follow soon. Oh how its taking forever.
  5. Stumbled accross this on my daily ebay search. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Parts-Project-Car_W0QQitemZ250271714550QQihZ015QQcategoryZ130628QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Hunter reconsidering?
  6. Yea, i love the way they make it into a small movie. EPIC! POWER! "Speed doesn't kill, suddenly becoming stationary does"
  7. thats s11e4 - is the one with new gtr. I'm gonna start nickname-ing season 11 the porno series... season 10 was rocket man and other stuff. If you have access to fast broadband with lots of download... then try finalgear.com You can download alot of episodes from there.
  8. LOL i had the same thing happen to me in my brothers AE86. Thought I'd give it some, the rain had just started and i did a small drift followed by a 180 degree turn. Lucky there was no cars behind me or an accident would have occurred. I've learnt my lesson too, be very very very VERY patient on wet days.
  9. yeh definately wouldn't be cheap. It cost as little as $500/month to rent the machine on a 12 month contract. No information anywhere on renting the machine for a day. Machine isn't all that big, it looks like an upper-class welder from the outside. Then you need to purchase the dry ice. How much is super cold C02? (stuff you breath out). I presume cheaper then beads used in bead blasting. (Could be weaponised, grab a handfull and shove it down someones throat, watch them gasp away) Then again you wouldn't want to shoot yourself with it by accident. -80 degrees isn't all that painful at first... until your limbs fall off... then it gets heated... then the blood gushing out. LOL, don't you love imagery. But then again, same with standard bead blasting you wouldn't want to shoot yourself with that either. So in theory its the same technique and hazard prevention. It is a good idea for panel beater workshops that do alot of restoring. Good idea to test out i guess. Fairly new technology in terms of the manufacturers of those machines haven't been around for far too long. For anyone interested in this. http://www.icetech.net.au/ A orgnisation that sells machines and dry ice.
  10. I got my copy early last week. This was ordered prior to the first release. So whoever ordered theres then should be receiving theres.
  11. Hi guys, i saw this on Youtube this week and did a bit of research into it. Basically strips a car using dry ice on a compressed level. Benefits of the technology is... its cold and not a hot-abrasive form of stripping. May limit or prevent warpage. But can't say that for sure, only time will tell. Theoretically bead blasting uses abrasives but while it strikes it produces heat upon contact. Whereas dryice, operating at -80 degrees, will strike and force a temporary small contraction dislodging the upper material. As we all know warpage occurs when the metal expands and forces itself outwards causing the warp effect. There are companies throughout Australia that do this. So this thread is mainly to point out the idea as an option if you are restoring your car. Have any feedback? into the technology or if you've tried it, please post related articles here.
  12. Scando, how much did the noltec kit set you back?
  13. WOW! nice find. I will order one when my re-assembly starts. I was considering buying that overpriced version on ebay from that texas guy. Just goes to show there are bargains everywhere, just need to find the right place. and the answer to your question is yes that is the right harness. Basically it directly links to your battery and the switch only acts as a switch. This harness also includes grounding points. Nice Find. Fu
  14. No, that product won't work with standard Datsun 240z globes, without a few mods. Reason being is that Datsun 240z don't have a headlight assembly(twist the bulb to remove from rear types). The front headlights are actually MASSIVE globes and the wiring links directly to the back of it. So, in order to fit HIDs to the Datsun 240z, firstly you need to convert the standard Datsun globes to headlight assemblies, easily done as theres heaps of them on ebay. After that buy a matching set of HIDs, when i say matching i mean the bulb shape to the rear of the assembly eg. HB4, H7,H8, H4, etc... example of product can be found here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-H4-Bright-White-Light-System_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46093QQihZ020QQitemZ300238390589QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Of course taking into account that new headlight regulator must be installed to get a consistent flow of wattage. But personally i think... a lot of xenon HID conversions actually use less wattage then standard globes. But this is on the assumption of a modern car and not of a Zed. As i did read this somewhere when i did the HIDs conversion for my Honda DC2R.
  15. Oh since this has been restarted i might add... Our front struts on the 240z is a similar design as the AE86. I wish Greddy would release it for the Zeds as they are so similar. Rears on the other hand are different as the AE86 has a separate design, solo spring and solo dampner design. Also wondering, does anyone have measurements from top to bottom (height) of the front strut with the coil over setup?
  16. Do i hear a group buy? Sulio? I'm interested in a set as well as my car is missing them.
  17. Hello and welcome to the forums, As with all new forum members who post up this sort of request of "hi, looking for a 240z or 260z 2 seater". It is very hard to find a Datsun 240z or 260z that is rust free. You will find close to rust free but they all come at a price. What sort of price are you after? 15-20grand? If your looking for a bargain its best to look in the classified section for un-finished projects. A lot of the times its either they've worked the engine or done the body work, one or the other. Getting one of these un-finished projects would roughly set you back anywhere from 5-8grand, normally. Then its a matter of finishing off, where they left off. I suggest you check out this forum member who is also selling his car at this post. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2356.0.html Though it has a manual... its easy to get a auto converted into it... "ke ke ke" i can provide the automatic parts in exchange for the manual parts. The Datsun 240z is a very hands on car, so prepare to get your hands dirty that and endless money trees to perfect it.
  18. it took me all day to download this from 9 am till 9pm. Its very congested at the moment. And as we all know torrent systems prioritize high bandwidth and local connections above all others. But bare with it and it should be done by tomorrow morning if you download over night. Good Ep, but i won't spoil it.
  19. Hi guys, For all the topgear fans, season 11 has just started. you can get the first ep from here. torrent: http://www.finalgear.com/shows/topgear/11/1/ Fu
  20. the only pics on this page, page 9, is my 2nd post from the top. The pics of my Zed with all the panels major panels on it, doing a final coat and straight. As well as Lui's car. It doesn't load up?
  21. which pics aren't working? I recently moved all the pics to photobucket. I went through each thread to update them so they should be all there. But just in case just tell me which page and which post number from top to bottom and i'll get the pics back up.
  22. the place i go to get bolts is called "coventry fastners" sorry about the late reply. I'm thinking about finding those hex (alans key) bolts in the screw sizes for the zed and go crazy with them in the engine bay. Just for added look.
  23. Hi Ben, its actually the undercoat. It will be black so that the blue will stand out and have a darkish glow. Otherwise it would be very bright if we used another undercoat. Generally the rule of the thumb is depending on color. If your going for a red or yellow then you'll do a white undercoat to get a rich bright color. For darker colors its black. As mine is a metallic blue its kinda goes both ways. You can have it with a white undercoat but the color will really stand out and will end up like hyper-blue like the sky. Depending on your panel beater he will use his own technique. OooOOo he brought it in at a extremely good time. Theres literally no cars in there at the moment. As you can see they're into it already. Just a note Lui, I suggest you check up on it every 2-3 days so you can tell them how you want the job done to a detailed level. Otherwise they'll just do their own thing and might not end up with the result you want.
  24. Hi guys a little update. Finally getting somewhere. All panels have been re-attached and is now going through the final alignment and straightening. I'm guessing I'll get it back by the end of next week. Problem that caused a lot of the recent waiting was because... for some reason the Zed no long runs and they haven't been able to move it. If you have been following the project so far, you will know that the e-brake cable doesn't quite fit and it required a adapter to get it sorted. Well i installed the adapter today but due to many months of the car being in that awkward rear brake locked position, from that e-brake cable not fitting, the pistons are now not budging for some reason. I tried using a G-clamp but it doesn't seen to go back in. I remember when i first installed the rear brake conversion it fitted fine and worked fine. Only problem back then was the fact that i installed the calipers the wrong way round so i believe the calipers do still work its just a matter of resetting the piston. *EDIT* I just realised by researching that i need some twisting tool to twist the rear caliper pistons back in. I will look into it for next weeks brake repair session. For now I've taken out the rear brake pads. So that they can push the car into the painting booth. But i will have to head back there next Saturday and take care of it. Anyways here are some photos: OH also, there is a random Zed that appeared at my Panel Beater, I'm assuming another member has decided to do a restoration at the same Panel Beater as me. I've taken some photos and i hope you don't mind me posting them here. From what it looks like, its a 240Z but with some weird mods. For one it has a 260Z antennae, drag tires, L28 engine, front spoiler molded into the front bumper (see attached pics), OH and weird fender indicators.

    Face off
