  1. 38psi is the correct pressure but from 35-40 psi there is not a great difference in fuel deliverey
  2. ill see what i can do ill check on the weakend and see if he has a useable one
  3. lindsy at zshop in melbourn has tonnes of bonnets, he did last time i was there give him a call and see how u go
  4. would also be interested in 280zx front
  5. i just use good quality eletrical tape such as nitto brand
  6. power is the big advantage, no need for engineer cert, it takes me about 2-4 hours to swap out a carbie L series engine. so there not that difficult, my only advice is do everthing whilst the motor is out, replace rear main seal, welsh pug at back of box, and clutch if its not too good

    280zx strip

so you did get another shell then you rebuilding
  8. definatly was a LZ twincam and all he imported it from south africa when he moved over, the engine is now cactus though as is the head all that remains is the rods pistons and crank, i dont no what happend but it has cracks all through the block and all through the head. it now sits as a momento in his shed
  9. i didnt think LZ were that rare a mate has one sitting on his shed floor due to cracks in the bore, he just took it out of his 1600
  10. i done some more searching in the factory service manual and it only lists the 1 tail shaft length for both manual and auto, so i guess ill just have a go and see how it pans out
  11. hey guys im trying to find out if the tail shafts are different between auto and manual in a 280zx 2+2, i know that a 240z and 260z have the same shaft and i would think being the same boxes that the 280zx would also be the same. cheers pauly
  12. yes they are z car seats they are from a series 1 280zx they do however look to be retrimmed at one stage
  13. i still think its the TPS how much corrosion is there, i had the same issue and was tearing my hair out for months and it was corrosion on my TPS use some CLR on the plug then clean it with contact cleaner, ben the pins in a little on the plug so they for a bit of a V then plug back in and try it again, if its still playing up riggle it wires a bit.
  14. i agree with peter i drove a boosted r32 and it was gutless, it had plenty of HP but no torque, my 280zx is now boosted and has stacks of torque and im still running the factory ecu which is a bi@tch as you need to tune with FPR and AFM. i have owened a z32 twin turbo and my 280zx with 6 psi of boost would almost keep up with it. as for the rb20det if you have it use it its a cheap option but dont go expecting loads of grunt they can be a good reliable engine but lack torque which is where the L28 or L28et will kill it. just my thoughts cheers pauly
  15. it depends on what you want, if you want torque stick with the L28, a L28et is awsome i just done this and it goes hard as, if you want fuel economy use rb20det it will also bolt in with the only mod of the sump( if you want more info on this pm me ) the vg30 needs mods and if you go to the effort of modding it you might as well put a better bigger engine.
  16. its yout throttle position sensor, get some WD40 and blast it with that on the pins then mop up any excess, it happens to mine every time it gets moisture in it.
  17. the nut has a thin collet on the end that you hit with a punch into a chanel that locks it in place
  18. try changing the springs and ball bearings first it can be done with box in car
  19. i had it in my 260z it was the nut on the main shaft had come loose, it requires gearbox pull down to tighten though, since then it has not jumped out, on another note i would change the springs and ball bearings for the selectors first. you will notice 2 bolts in the middle of the box underneith and one on the side this also helps and cost about $30 to replace
  20. i like that idea but one thing, look at a z32 twin turbo box there much stonger then rb25
  21. not yet but will by then
  22. going from mt beauty to bright is an awsome drive i do it once in a blue moon, im keen for bright as the surrounding roads are very good also on the plus side my turbo loves sucking in small forrest animals
  23. yep 40 mins but its not a very fun drive, its preaty bleak unless you go out to the hume weire first, i live in albury and i might head out for a drive for the day if you want to catch up chris and cruze up there together let me know. cheers pauly
  24. no worries thats what i got quoted for my rears in mine so i just replaced them $80 for the hoses are awsome. working on a z32 is not for the fain hearted and awfully painful most times just hang in there if you need any help with parts just pm me or if you have questions on how to do stuff. cheers pauly
  25. i have the shocks but the hoses are a no go there both leaking, i would look into a new set of shocks as there not that costly but if you get stuck just pm me i can pull them out
