  1. hmmm needs a login?
  2. heya, i work in a photo studio and we use canon eos 1d mach 3's but at $13500 just for the body it's well out of anyones price range. i found it hard to go down in quality but eventually got a canon 40d that cost me jsut under $3000 with some extra gear and that was over a year ago. i can say this is a very good camera but probably still too much for an entry level enthusiast. here are some full size pics i have been playing with recently (note the 1st link is staright from the camera but the 3 after have been edited with photoshop for different effects, they will probably appear a little bit grainy due to the sharpening effects I have been using lately) http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Mini/IMG_1994.jpg http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Mini/IMG_2178.jpg http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Mini/IMG_1980.jpg http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Mini/IMG_2067.jpg the 400d/450d's are great entry level dslr's like everyone has suggested. definitly worth the money. only complaint would be that im a pretty big guy and it felt a bit small in my hands, but that would be about the only complaint at that price range. the issue with these dslr's is the size. i really only use my camera when i have really planned to, not really a happy snaps at a party kinda camera. if you want something a bit more compact and user friendly the canon powershot g9 is a great camera. a guy i used to work with uses one, here is his flickr stream... http://www.flickr.com/photos/gabeveit/with/3230462682/ basically i would advise that if you want to get into photography and learn a few techniques and get a little creative every now and again then start with the 400/450d. if you want something that you can have on hand and take some nice photos of your life then go the powershot. if you get into and want some photoshop advice then feel free to drop me an email
  3. there is a rotary powered zed in the states... ill see if i can find links when i get home form work 2nite
  4. im not sure, jsut did a search but couldn't find anything. I'm pretty sure all this guy did was get all the bolts you need for a certain job of the car ie. body then go down to a fastener shop and buy them and then sell them as a kit. Maybe if someone does that they could list the sizes and quantity here? i will do it when i get my project car back together but i dont think that will be for years...
  5. i think going to one of the local shops mentioned is the best bet, but i do recall seeing someone selling bolt kits on ebay in the US. They had small kits for certain sections or general large kits, that's all the info i've got sorry
  6. haha yeah there are always posts about 'where can i find fuseible links' on the american forums but is so cheap and easy to make your own! nice work to my knowledge, the corrosion is actually how they work. Rather than blowing with a power surge they slowly deteriorate and absorb the surge. I made up some and replaced them on my car a few years ago, then they had to be replaced again so i rigged up some normal fuses but the problem is they get hot and melt (i think i have a small electrical issue but i think this would happen to most of them anyway, as i said, they are meant to blow slowly over time)
  7. yeah quoting without gst is a waste of time. its like when the airlines were quoting flights for like $25 but then you had to add fuel and then add tax etc. and it ended up being $100 anyway. It's like saying oh i'll quote you $50 for a new car but then saying oh you'll have to add the cost of the parts and assembly and oh dont forget my profit in there either.
  8. haha im actually designing a set of custom aluminium gauges atm. ill make a 300kmh version
  9. Hi, was bored at work so I uploaded some photos from a car show I went to ages ago. No so many 'clear' photos of cars, I was just playing around Here's the facebook link http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=89968&id=560632287&l=18559
  10. i thought lurch was the cat? lurch tyres and photos asap! especially a shot straight from the side
  11. looks great. as i have said before, the dash was the selling point for me on the z. i saw the lines of a 2 seater 240z and the looked inside and said i wanted one
  12. i think this is exactly what he would be after... not local though http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/4/2020524 edit: realised this only goes back 20years so even then its not that old
  13. have u tried to source a new one? our local automotive electrical shop (not sure of the name) had a brand new replacement alternator in stock (i think it was bosch) for about $140 i think. I found out cause the auto electrician I went to said it wasn't even worth rebuilding my alternator cause they are so cheap new.
  14. there was a screening of it at palace cinemas in brisbane next wednesday with a q&a session with eric bana aftwerwards... missed out in tickets though. i think it sold out today
  15. khughes: sorry i wasnt subscribed to this thread for some reason. i haven't quite got around to finishing them (moved to brisbane, but they are next on my dads to do list). Im heading home for the weekend so ill take some nice big pics of the final design. i think we were going to build the bracket to go through the taillight holes and attach on top of the rear struts (i think). I think the bumper mounts are alright assuming you have fixed all rust and aren't putting it up with too much weight on the car, like the suspension you mentioned. I personally wouldnt use the bumper mounts but we are being very cautious. We built our design overkill, we assumed it should handle being up with the rear suspension on but we haven't tested it yet. We were going to use the engine stands originally but for the cost of 2 engine stands we could build our own that's going to take alot more weight and utilise the jacking feature. On the engine stands we have, we noticed stress just holding the l28 (due to the length of the motor)
  16. ahh ill be at work then. if you had a spare day with nothing to do we could just go for a short cruise. i know steve would be up for it, i wont be around on the weekend though. and i work monday-friday. Maybe one of the week nights next week?
  17. what did everyone think of the 370z? anyone seen the australian website for it http://www.370z.com.au/
  18. 1st post updated haha yeah I didn't realise there were so many other cool old cars in everyones stable. My dream is to have a early to mid 60's corvette and mustang in the shed eventually. nat0, what time do you fly in?
  19. yeah good night, should definitely do it again. Steve is back soon and I know he is keen. If anyone wanted any info from the other night feel free to email/msg me, we covered a lot of material
  20. I was getting water pooling in my floors after rain. While I was driving I could feel water running onto my feet, it felt like someone turned. Turned out to be a rust hole under the windscreen wiper motor (under the cowl in front of the windscreen). Fixed that up now I am only getting water in through the doors where there are no rubber weather seals
  21. nato if you think your misses luggage will fit in a 2+2 ill come out and grab ya. now the question is will u be a gentleman and sit in the back? i think that night should be a qld zcar club meet if you can convince the lady to go along
  22. sweet, i'll add u to the list shotgun a ride in the mustang haha how long ago did u leave gladstone? know any malugas?
  23. Oh thats right, good luck with the surgery. Any other takers?
  24. yeah i think the diagonal street parking just before the top of the hill (kind of like the backside of the coffee shop) will be fine. ill wait by the car if i get there first. my dad and i are just coming up in my white 260z now. he didn't bring his z and my 240 is still on stands. so is it just you and us mtopxsecret6? you're not coming zedback?
  25. hmmm and i noticed i wrote 'drivers' for Brisbane and Sydney but not Canberra. Maybe I subconsciously think Cranberrians can't drive?
