  1. I agree, engine is a relative easy fix. If the paint is fairly new it's usually safe to assume they have done a quick patch up job to make it presentable to sell and rust will start showing through within a year or 2 (Depending on the quality of work, i know this seems very cynical but 9 times out of 10 its true). It sounds like they know a little bit about zeds (electronic ignition, su carbs etc) so I would ask him about the body work and see how he answers. You can also ask him if rust was cut out and then new patches welded in or just bogged up. Have a real close look on top of the guards above the wheels (either side of the hood) and down low in the sills around the doors and quarter panels. Look for any rust bubbles or uneven paint. If you can also check the floor from under the car and see if it is rusting through at all as that can be quite a big and common job. If it looks tidy and the body work was done reasonably well then it's proabbyl worth the $4000 especially with the spare gearbox etc. That said you never really get what its worth when selling a 2+2. I think up to $2500 would be a bargain based on the description and $2500 to $3500 would be about what you could find elsewhere. But once again it really comes down to bodywork.
  2. Lurch knows his hairy women
  3. PORN!! literally
  4. wow that looks hot. very nice car, I would love to see more pictures
  5. i think you'll be fine mate. Buy a cheap 2+2, drive it for a few years, park it in shopping centers and don't worry if someone opens there door onto it, get some gutter rash from not knowing where your tires are and then run up the ass of someone cause you were busy eating a burger or changing cd. Once it's all out of your system, if you still like them, buy a nice Z and treasure it but still enjoy it... after all, nearly anything can be fixed I am another one saying go for the l28. Mainly because it is so much less hassle and won't have to be off the road that long. If you are lucky you may even be able to find an l28 for free, there are a lot of them just lying around in peoples sheds. Get it rebuilt and don't skimp on machine work like porting and polishing and balancing the parts. In regards to being hard to drive... I believe these cars are hard to drive, especially if you are learning in it. This is mainly because the accelerators can be very touchy when taking off (you usually have to ease them on slowly and gradually) which can make it hard if you aren't used to using the clutch and accelerator (usually the hardest part when you are learning in any car). If the gearbox isn't in the best shape then you may have to double the clutch or be more accurate on your gear changes. You sit quite low and the windscreen is quite narrow compared to other cars so you don;t have the best viewpoint. The steering can be pretty heavy (especially if you are as weedy as I was when i was in high school, good for a workout though) and the turning circle isn't the greatest (especially the 2+2's). Then if you take into account the possibility of worn out suspension/steering components/bushings, your ride might be all over the road. Although a lot of this depends on the condition of the car you buy and most of these problems can be fixed with stock replacement or through modifications. After saying all this, don't let any of that scare you, if you learn to drive in a Z you should be able to drive nearly any car (and I say it's harder, but it's really not THAT hard). And not to mention you will have a ton of fun. In a zed you feel connected with the road which is something you don't get in every car.

    Go karts anyone?

http://www.bigkart.com.au/info-contact.html $30 15mins $50 30mins $75 60mins i was looking at another track that was something like $30 for 12 minutes and a special of $79 for 3 12 minute sessions which seemed quite expensive and short lived.
  7. Isn't it normally a zed only event? I thought the QLD organisers made it general nissan/datsun this year to get more cars/people involved.

    Go karts anyone?

I too would be in, depending on time and money. The gearbox, brakes, thermo fan, nationals and bucks party in Cairns have put a dint in my budget... maybe in a few weeks? A day on the long weekend in May could be alright, just not sure if people will be busy/planning on going away. I was thinking of heading to the sunshine coast that weekend anyway
  9. whatever you do, don't crash it or we'll get Lurch onto you
  10. Wow I didn't hear that one. Nice work. As for the write up, I haven't forgotten, it's all written and I'm just linking ALL of the photos to the story. I will hopefully post in the next couple of days
  11. ahhh true. I have had those black plastic interior scuff panels for a 2+2 sent from the US before though, I wouldn't have thought that they were much shorter than the metal trim? It was only$12 US as well, but that may have been before they stopped shipping by sea. Anyways from the states is a bit of hassle, especially with the dollar the way it is.

  14. ok got it, i will upload the link tonight when i get home from work
  15. if you send me the full size full i can upload and link it permanently if you want?
  16. have you asked the seller about putting it on a trailer? When I got Nigels 240 sent from melbourne to brisbane it was around $1000-1200 in a covered trailer (from memory). You could probably get it shipped for around the $1000 mark? If you were interested I could possibly go around and have a look at it sometime although I'm not too sure how keen my eye is, especially on the rb side of things. The other option is that if it doesn't sell, offer him $5500 for it shipped to you?
  17. Definitely one of the better custom taillight setups i've seen, maybe still not my cup of tea though but I think it looks like it could have come standard that way... Trying to work out what can be done with the tailights keep me up at night
  18. ps greg the local guys are organising a meet at garvice's house this thursday... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3261.135.html

  20. hi gav, i'm doing a write up of steve's and mine experience but that said we didn't participate in motorsport and we only spectated for a couple of hours. I'll post it up over the weekend hopefully. If you think it's appropriate feel free to post it up
  21. yeah i think it might be easier to just meet there
  22. i was just going to get everyone to meet there. Steve and I and one of my friends will be leaving from my Gf's house in Kangaroo Point so if you are keen I could pm you the address? It's just that it's a real small street with parking on only one side so it can't handle too many cars. Unless we could meet at the Mcdonalds in Kangaroo Point? We will be leaving 6 sharp.
  23. those last 2 pictures are a bit inappropriate lurch, keep it in your pants
