  1. haha yeah im up for a weekend meet so modular can come along, this and next weekend are out for me...
  2. Hahah just read the thread. Seems like a big shit storm over nothing. I mean really, why ban you for 7 days cause you responded to someone criticizing you in your own thread? Like he said, brian should have just let it go, and maybe you should have too but what you replied wasn't that bad and not worth a 7 day ban. Ahhh the weird and wonderful world of online forums :S
  3. Thanks mike, haha i think to get defected for lack of shift pattern you must be a) doing something horribly wrong/dangerous b) being a complete dick to the cop. Although the cops that hang out around places that bogans meet up are very particular with their inspections, but I can't argue with that, especially considering most of the people at these places will probably end up crashing their skyline, with supercheap pod filter, into an elderly person crossing the street. Haha enough of a rant. Steve: yeah if anyone wants one I can make/sell them. Only problem is that these are isotta knobs which are generally quite expensive (can be $100-$180 just for the knob). I got these 2 off ebay for a lot less but they don't come up all that often and they are actually 'used'. I can do it to any gearknob that you can remove the button on, but a lot of the cheaper knobs do look, well, cheap. I wouldn't mind getting a wood knob and doing a z logo on that. Haha cheers ZZZ8, i've actually heard that before
  4. Finally got around to making some custom z logos for some gearknobs... My parents 300zx needed one and I had another spare, I'll see how it looks in the yellow car but if it looks out of place I might chuck it in my daily driver.
  5. Random choke electrical wires, +10hp... but only on really cold mornings
  6. Looks like new, if not better. Good work
  7. I agree, if they had have done something like this with the 350 and 370z it would have been awesome.... Absolutely love it at 4:15, I can watch that over and over And the quote "It's like smearing honey into Kiera Knightly"... That's how you review a car...
  8. PS for those who download their tv, UK top gear is back on the 21/06/09
  9. Yeah looking very good. You are getting a lot of work done. It's good to see some solid updates on a project. A man arts teacher at my high school worked on a 240z as a 'class project' as well. Unfortunately this was a few years after I graduated.
  10. I think they need to put an <expletive>'n microphone on the car for their laps around their track. They are so quiet and boring. We need to hear engine revs and exhaust notes not this dull hum from a distance. The review wasn't bad, nothing I haven't heard/read before. If I had to buy a new car it would either be the 370z or bmw z4. Just for fun, here is a review of the Nismo 370z... http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-09/06-12-09page-2009-Nissan-Nismo-370Z.htm The show overall is still too awkward for me. I think it's getting better but their jokes are so setup and aren't that funny considering they have been so well prepared. I know the British Top Gear's are as well but they just pull it off so much better. I think the main problem is that these guys, generally aren't that naturally funny. They also seem like they are "putting on" these voices for reviews like someone doing a grade 12 video assignment. They just aren't generally moved by what they are doing. Hopefully in a few years they'll get it all together. After all the British one has been going for ages...
  11. How did you go with this? Did you end up painting the camo scheme?
  12. Steve and I were working on his car today and we noticed that the kick down switch (next to the pedal box in the cabin) was restricting movement of the accelerator. With it removed the butterfly valve in the carby now opens fully. It was restricting it by about 10-20 degrees. Maybe this could be added to the tutorial?
  13. I think either colour would look great. I do love the pine lime green colour though, if I get another zed its going that colour
  14. This one is <expletive>'n awesome... http://www.john-w.de/models/misc/thomas/th_datsun_r.htm I want to make one now, just add it to the list of projects I have
  15. I'm not expert, but here is my contribution to the subaru lsd's The subaru r180 isn't an easy "bolt in" diff but a guy on hybrid has made it work, with a lot of work. I'm planning on going with this conversion when I can save the $. My reasoning as that most "bolt in" lsd go for at least $1000 and that's for a 20-30yr old diff. Even if the subaru conversion costs $2000, you get upgraded cv's and a -10yr old diff. I know which I would rather have Here is the link to hybridz http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117916&highlight=sti+r180+lsd Scroll down to the post by Nizzan, i think since then he has made his own thread about the conversion. Edit: found his dedicated thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=143667
  16. ah I was leaving it for you to post So this is what garvice was thinking about for his car... I have a couple of original wheels at home as well. I thought about getting them retrimmed but wasn't sure what kind of result to expect. Has anyone got pics of a retrimmed wheel?
  17. scrumpy, how did you get on with this? I'm considering getting a steering wheel from japan :S
  18. Oh so the pic of the Mazda lights, I would be using 3 lots of the middle light (the chrome surround with the amber lens) and use a clear, amber and red lens and then house all of these in a clear or smokey cover in a similar shape to the 240z lights.
  19. zedevan i think those would look great with a bit of body work around them, something like that orange and black concept car someone rendered (often referred to as what the 350z should have been). I wouldn't mind actually making a real life version of that, i reckon you could get it 90% close to the design just basing it off a 240z. I love the gtr lights, looks period correct like you mentioned. I think my hierarchy goes Custom Lights if possible 240z Lights if not GTR lights for my daily driver So i received a set of Mazda lights of ebay, only problem is that the red lensed version actually has a blue coloured "clear" lens. This lens is actually clear on the clear covered lights but they obviously changed it to blue to counteract the red. Another problem I have run into is that the process I was looking into using is actually a resin based process (which I didn't realise). I use resin at work and I imagine these will fade terribly being out in the sun. I think using the amber and red lens would be fine because you wouldn't notice it, but on clear panels... I might buy a batch and do some tests and leave one inside and one outside for 6 months. Also found http://www.klearz.com/ on hybridz Apparently they haven't got a lot of good feedback. I think the quality is a bit on the lower end of the scale and it looks like they are slowly closing the business down. I might contact them to see if they are willing to share the process that they use
  20. I was designing a modern interior for years but lately I have been think of doing a retro styled interior. I photoshopped a pic of garvices rx7 seat conversion... I'm thinking of getting the "Datsun Compe" steering wheel as well but I'm having a hard time swallowing $600+ on a steering wheel. There is an unopened 10th anniversary reproduction on yahoo atm but I just purchased new door trims for my 240z and don't think I can afford it.
  21. now 370z that would be awesome, shotgun
  22. haha yeah if i had $15000 i would have another zed, or a stroker motor and a nearly finished project car maybe sometime in the future us queenslanders could plan a trip south to the melbourne boys. Or we could plan a trip to meet halfway or something? That upcomming tasmanian trip sounds awesome, it's just such a long way for us qld just to get there. Maybe I could fly down and be someones passenger
  23. Edii showed me his trim on the weekend (hmmmm).... Just ordered my set, +1 for Trevor being great to deal with. Just as a side note vacuum hoses from the booster to check valve and check valve to engine are no longer available for the 73 240z. I imagine it would be the same for the early 240z's. Also edii mentioned that the door lock on the 260z comes out at a different spot than the 240z so these trims need to be slightly modified to fit a 260z 2 seater. I'm not sure if you can actually order a different set for the 260z's, Trevor did confirm that I wanted the "early" trim so maybe there are 260z types available? Edii is also going to cover the corkboard or whatever that material is, makes sense seeing as though it is pretty exposed to the elements, hence why they swell over the years. I'm going to paint and seal mine too
  24. Don't think anyone has posted this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-1VNxHqO6c Looks like a good event for Australia. Only a small $15k entry fee as well
  25. I have been watching Ztherapy's tuning videos and he also mentions not removing the cam towers for the reasons mentioned above
