  1. Lynton: yeah I'll have a look and see what I can do , another alternative could be Greg's method that he has been using to make the hatch badges etc? No chrome finish but still look damn fine. If you were really after a stock looking one, Greg mentioned he could get them chromed but it's like $100 a badge or something. Haha were you stalking me? Yeah I have freinds in Mujimba so I visit occasionally. Would have been good to have a chat, haven't seen you for a year or 2 tbscobraZ: haha cheers
  2. main link doesn't work, followed up by dodgy spam? Does he have $2million in his nigerian bank account that he is ready to send to us?
  3. I think I'm gonna have to print me some of these...
  4. I went to Cairns last weekend for a mates wedding. While I was there I took my parents z32 for a drive from Cairns to Port Douglas which is quite a nice drive. Of course I stopped for a photo... <a href="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/Misc/Z32.jpg"><img src="http://www.shaun-maluga.com/Images/Z/Misc/Z32_Small.jpg"></a> Around the corner from the resort we were staying in was a grey 370z, it actually passed me on the drive. Very hot
  5. has anyone weighed the difference between the L series box and the s/13/14/15 box? Thought the newer S boxes might be lighter but probably not as they are mostly made from the same material, they may even be heavier...
  6. My 240z has a crack in the pillar on the drivers side At a car show once a guy told me that when I repaint it, just weld it and don't bother with the lead, maybe someone can say weather this is a good idea or not?
  7. tbscobraz: do you mean the "old school" Z font with the filled in 3d style of the last pic? I'll have to draw it from scratch but it can be done. RBZ: your pieces have been made, I'll just let them set over the weekend before I post them. PM'ing you now
  8. Welcome, looks like a fairly straight z you have there, would love to see you at the meets. Haha sounds like that could have been Steve? He has a habbit of scaring men in the valley
  9. Don't worry too much about the round top carbys. If there is a car with good body work etc and flat top you can easily buy a set of round tops off ebay. They have been going for around $200, so in the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world, it's just another small positive or minus for the car. Steve drove around with flat tops for a year, and his car actually ran better haha sorry Steve Other positives to look for are an electric dizzy and an uncracked dash, but these can also be upgraded/fixed. A recovered dash will set you back about $700 though. If you are lucky enough to find a car with triple carbys (webbers, dellorto's, mikuni) these normally go for $700-1200 depending on condition. Other positives might be bigger brakes on the front or disc brake conversion on the rear, and the H4 Headlight upgrade. But really, all these things are a walk in the park in comparison to cutting out rust. So body work is definitely your major priority and doing these other upgrades are part of the fun of owning a z Anyways I'm happy to go have a look at some z's around Brisbane with you if you find something good. Good luck
  10. That sounds great Greg, I'm up for that
  11. I think I'm going to the Gold Coast on the 18th for a friends birthday so if we do it then I would be thinking 10am Saturday or 2pm onwards on Sunday I like the idea of the BBQ, but I'm easy.
  12. I don't know how it affects it but what about your compression test results? 140,150,115,110,120,110 Not the greatest, would this just effect overall performance or could it cause havoc on tuning? I'm not sure about internals, maybe someone can put their 2 cents in, but what about checking valve clearances etc? Once again, don't know if this will have any affect on your problems...
  13. Haha it is just a badge steve, a pair of silicone tits doesn't make you a woman Haha but yeah I could be completely wrong. I'll ring my dad and get him to check the vins on my cars at home. Haha yeah, most of my info is taken from the net so 99%of what I know is BS I do have a couple of old datsun books lying around though like the "By the Editors Consumer Guide Datsun Z-Cars" which only has american specs and australian sales figures. Anyway, when I find out what I have I might post in a new thread. Once again sorry for the hijack
  14. Does this not sound right to you? The car is 600klms away so I can't check Can anyone else confirm or deny? I have seen plenty of the later model 260z's with l28 engines that look bone stock. I know these all could have been engine transplants but going to all that work to transplant an engine and then leave things like the auto box and all the pollution gear, and then putting on the flat top hitachi's and getting rid of the fuel injection... doesn't add up to me. They where making l28's in those years anyway, just like I said, everything here was badged 260z and we never got a 280z. Sorry for the off topic GTS... Edit: Been doing some reading. The l26 was still being produced up to 78 "in other countries" (besides the US). Also read a classified for "one of the last 260zs delivered in perth" over at the WA Z Site. It had a l26 that they swapped out for a l28. So looks like I could have been wrong
  15. I have the badges from the guards but I don't think I have the hatch badge. Well not in Brisbane anyways
  16. hmmm I have a complete fuel injection setup sitting in my garage.....
  17. If you have taken all of the carpets and lining out and its just the bare metal you should find it easier to see where the leaks are coming from. If it has stopped raining just put a hose over it and you should actually be able to see where it runs down the walls etc. There should be a heap of drain plugs in the floor you can pull out and let the water drain out. Everyones suggestions so far are spot on. Mine leaks.... From the windscreen cowl, the panel rusted through where the wiper motor sits From the passenger door, the rubber is pretty rooted From the hatch around the hinges, haven't had a good look at this but I'd assume there's just a rust hole around the hatch hinges (I noticed drops of water on the back seat). From between the door frame and the 1/4 glass, the rubber is gone there
  18. I use eztv.it. They have a 'Show List' section which lists all the shows and when they are airing next or if they have ended etc. They are always good quality and you never get spam/viruses. Very very occasionally the audio goes out of sync but if it does there is usually a fixed file (called repack) that they post not long after. The site uses torrents like the one fufu mentions. I use 'BitTorrent' to handle torrents. I'm yet to see the new top gear, downloading it atm
  19. It's probable that it's the l28 but it doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't the original engine. As everyone is aware, the 260z's went to 280z's in America (around 75?) and with it, the engine went to 2.8 liters. So our cars were being badged 260z but they still came with a l28 as far as I'm aware (minus the fuel injection). My 77 260z is the same. PS tough looking car you have there
  20. hmmm I can't see why not. I am a little concerned about durability, I'll look into it, good idea. I can print on aluminium which is also quite durable, but more expensive. Might be another option. I'm also gonna make a replacement dash emblem. It won't look stock but it would be a nice cheap alternative to the 260z badge which is nearly impossible to find due to the 260/280 american thing.
  21. OK great. Just pick which logo you want on it... I'll send you a pm with bank details
  22. Mine was a bit more expensive but I had credit at autobarn I needed to use. It's just a polished stainless steel overflow tank, however it doesn't just bolt straight in. That said, it's not that hard to mount. We ended up cutting a tab off the top of the radiator to get it to fit neatly next to the radiator, otherwise it would have been sitting out in the middle of no where (I missed the tab on the radiator later when it came to installing the thermo fans :-\ ) . Definitely beats the diet coke bottle that was in there to begin with
  23. Ok so I've had the twin fans on for a while now and haven't had a problem. The accelerator seems a lot more responsive now (the engine can rev a bit easier because it isn't spinning a giant fan) and it reduced a great deal of noise from the engine bay. Now all I want to clean up the wires. I think I did a fairly neat job but there are just so many wires running around the coil area and the switch etc look quite raw. I want to build the relay and the thermo switch into a box that can be painted either black or the body colour to hide all of this mess and then try to hide the wires as much as possible. I might also end up making a shroud eventually but there doesn't seem to be a need for it. But anyway, I would highly recommend this mod to everyone.
  24. hey RB, no I don't have a Trust knob to measure. So would you just like me to make the button and send it to you to attach?
  25. Ok so i think we are about due for another meet. There are a couple of guys who haven;t met before who are keen to like Matty260z. This time I'm thinking on a weekend so a) it might be easier for modular and waxhead and b) so we can meet somewhere during the day and actually see the cars This weekend and next weekend are out for me... Start posting when you are/aren't available and maybe where we could meet
