  1. sounds exactly like the clunk in my car Greg. We had it over a pit and think we have narrowed it down to uni's on the half shafts, but I haven't replaced them as I'm still waiting for my subi diff I'm still thinking I might just replace the stock shafts cause I don't think I'll get the subi diff for a while yet...
  2. I waited years before I got mine. They were usually going for minimum of $250-$300 US when I first started looking, now they seem to average about $500 US (not including postage obviously). I had purchased a few before but the sales had fallen through and I never got my crank. Recently I was lucky enough to snag one from NZ with the help of some very friendly forum members. I was recently quoted about $600 to get it sent over from New Zealand. I was considering flying over for the weekend and bringing it back as it would have only cost me $300-$400 in flights and would have got a mini holiday out of it but like I said, some very friendly people helped out and I got it over here quite cheap. I got an abosulte bargain in the end but it was about 3-4 years of searching and waiting. Good luck with the search
  3. hey greg, I have made up designs to get some speedo faces made up on aluminium. It is quite expensive to print but I could use you as a guinea pig? I was gonna get tests done anyway
  4. i love this thread. HS30-H you are now the official AusZCar chronographer
  5. spam alert!
  6. Gavs got it covered the slant you talk about in the 1/4 window is only in the 260z 2+2 versions. The 2 seaters have the same body lines. In the 2+2's they made the car 12 inches longer and the roof line is to give the people in the back more headroom. I wish I had the panel beating expertise to smooth out the roof but it would be a major job. There was talk that they had done that in the new Wanan Mignight movie?

How'd you go Greg? New diff fun? Somone left a note on my car at the coast asking if I wanted to sell it haha
  8. yeah i was surprised too. I was mainly suprised that they still sounded that good without the backing. As for the port, I'm really not sure. I usually build my boxes sealed anyway. If it is sealed the pressure in the box pulls the cones in quicker which means a cleaner tighter sound but it also means its gonna take a bit more power to push the cones back out again. My home theatre speakers I built actually have a "passive radiator" which is basically just some blank speakers that just flex. Its kind of the best of both worlds. But yeah, in general I go sealed over ported.
  9. it's alright the msa boxes aren't backed anyway
  10. Haha no more fuel injection? I sold a set of dellorto's recently for about $900. On average they go from about $800-1200 depending on condition. If you're lucky you might find a set around $600-800.
  11. sounds great, lets see if we can get a few zeds going. Kalium and Steve sounded keen
  12. actually make that 8 steve forgot about it. send me a msg if you're coming O4 O O 5 8 O 8 2 8
  13. haha sounds good. we can get something to eat and have a drink and then if we get bored I live in St Lucia and I have the latest Top Gear UK episode So I'll head to Indro at 730, see ya's there!
  14. I think paying someone to paint is fine. There is definitely an art to spray painting. Some guys can do it at home and get a decent job, others aren't so great. I don't see the point in doing months of body and prep work and then skimp on the top coat which is going to make or break the car. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great to do everything yourself and it really just depends on what you want the car to be in the end and what kind of result you can realistically get.
  15. dougybe: yeah not sure what the plan is atm though, I'm thinking about going to the coast friday night then on to maleny on Saturday. What were you thinking? alan: that's quite a schedule you've got there! let us know when you are back and available and we can get your carbs sorted kalium: nice work! So far there is only Steve and myself confirmed and a maybe by zedback. Anyone else? I have had enough dates with Steve and don't need people asking questions if you know what I mean
  16. haha lurch kids don't go to barn dances anymore, they hang out online paying out other kids for being fat and emo i'm on FB just search for Shaun Maluga, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that comes up
  17. I think if we go in via the pig and whistle entrance to Indooroopilly shopping center, we could try and park at the corner (marked in green) on the map. If there are cars there continue where the arrow is heading and there may be some parks on the right after you go undercover, if not go up one more level (up ramp on the right after going undercover) and park somewhere up there.
  18. haha sorry mate, was trying to imply that you are soft
  19. Ok so I'm thinking about 730 or 8pm? What does everyone think and who is in? Garvice I'm sure they serve milk there haah no worries And what's wrong with your car Kalium?
  20. Rev if you want to make him one go right ahead but if not... I was planning on making a pretty exact copy of the msa one for Steve at christmas time (I have the msa box in my 240z). I was gonna make 5 or so sets cause the materials will be pretty cheap. I was thinking of covering a few in carpet, vinyl and leaving a few blank. I have a bit of experience building speakers, it's a small and expensive hobby of mine
  21. just a question, what is J offset?
  22. ok who wants to do another week night meet? My weekends are chokas for the next few weeks. I'm thinking next Wednesday the 29th of July at Indooroopilly Shopping Center car park. There shouldn't be many cars around at night, there's very good lighting and we can grab a bite to eat and possibly a drink at the Pig & Whistle. What does everyone think?
  23. I can't remember but I think it was Fast Fours recently had an issue with a bonus "Old School" magazine. I think it was just a collection of some of the best old cars they have featured and Simons car was in that. I'll scan it one night and post it. Gav i think I have Simons number if you want to call or msg him.
  24. Someone may be able to help you with a better option for the vinyl, but Simon deGroot had his vinyl trim custom made at a place at Toowoomba http://web.archive.org/web/20060824083452/http://www.240z.id.au/ And it looks great From memory, most of the replacement kits have the wrong sized stitching (correct me if I'm wrong, my memory's not too great ). Not a problem for most but if you are a purist a custom job may be the go. Anyways maybe someone can help you out more...
