  10. i found my tastes changed quite dramatically from when i first got my first zed till now. i was 19-20ish when i got my first 260z (not knowing the difference between the body shapes of 2 seaters and 2+2's). back then i didnt have anything to do with cars so I wanted the obvious, red paint and black interior with red trims. nothing wrong with this but then after i already had the seats upholstered i wanted to change the colour to yellow but the seats already had red pipping. so its hard to plan it cause like i said, over time your tastes change. then as i learnt more about the cars i wanted to do more things (brake upgrades etc) so the plan of a quick $4000 job to get a dialy driver on teh road turned into a $20000 show car... as a result it is stil in the shed 5 years later....
  11. just something to note, im pretty sure spacers are illegal in queensland. its fine if your care is already registered (which it is) but if you have to take it for a roadworthy im pretty sure it wont pass... easy to get around though, just put on your old wheels for a roadworthy
  12. Hi all, I have a set of tripple dellortos with manifold for sale. They are very clean and have new gaskets throughout. They also come with linkages (previous owner said they aren't pretty but they will work on a z engine, see pics), carb balancing tool and a heap of documentation and old gaskets. I bought these from the states with the intention of polishing them and making a little profit however I now need money to fix a few things on my cars. I will only put these up for sale for a week or so as I would rather polish them and make a little money. They will need to be tightened and tuned however they should be in complete working order. $850 firm. Pickup available from inner city Brisbane. Can post at buyers expense.
  13. mine has the 2 longs bolts going through the rubber im pretty sure. its is a 5 speed box from a 280 so maybe they have used the mount from a later car :S
  14. Does anyone have any rubber mounts for a gearbox for a 240z? I'm having the gearbox pulled on Friday and remembered it is missing a rubber on one side. If anyone has one in Brisbane or could express post it 2moro that would be ideal (sorry for the short notice) Or alternatively does anyone know if you can buy them locally?
  15. good video, good to see one in english
  16. thanks for everyones replies... the leads are 1-2 years old max, the spark plugs were quite old so im not that suprised the 5 of them could die. 2 died one day, then 3 the next. but then after i replaced them, 2 of the new ones died and wouldn't work after cleaning them. i thought there was a possibility of getting a bad bunch of plugs but because the car killed 7 plugs in about a week I was a little dubious. After replacing the coil (it was quite rusted anyway and probably hadnt been replaced in a while) and the last 2 dead plugs the car ran perfect today to and from work. i will drive it for the next week and hopefully it will be all good.
  17. well they appear to be dead, it may not have killed all of them but they needed replacing anyway. they are ngk bp6es. set to .8mm (as far as i know its a fairly standard engine, l26 round top twin su's). there is spark when i take the lead off and hold it against the valve cover. and the same plug won't work when swapped to another cylnder that was working. they are quite black but not fouled up with gunk, however i have cleand them with a wire brush and wet & dry between the gap and it didnt seem to help. im thinking i may have fixed the problem with the new coil but ill see how it goes 2moro. does 'killing' a plug sound unlikely to you? I'm thinking my next step is to get a su rebuild kit and then take it to a shop to get tuned ( i haven't had it tuned since i first got the car 3 years ago). they don't really want to touch them unless they have been rebuilt recently as "they can spend hours on them and not get them to match." this was a guy at ultra tune who had a rolling road. if anyone in brisbane can recommend a good shop for tuning im all ears.
  18. hi all, my daily driver (1974 260z) has had a bit of a rough time lately. got hit by a random woman at a set of traffic lights and after i got it back from the panel beaters it was only running on 3 or 4 cylinders. Replaced 3 of the spark plugs with a few new ones i had lying around and then the next day the other 3 died. so i got 3 more new ones and replaced them so i had a fresh set of 6 in there. then went to take it for a drive and 2 of the other spark plugs i replaced initially, died. i have just put in a new coil and replaced the 2 dead spark plugs and ill drive it to work this week and see if it kills anymore. so my question... is there anything besides the coil that could kill spark plugs? i am yet to replace the ballast resistor but i will do this over the next week. i just wanted to see if there was anything else i can check/replace
  19. i am keen for a run aswell. i have been travelling for work this year and haven't found the time to get to any of the meets. I don't think I've even paid my membership yet :S i would be keen for a general meet but am quite busy aswell. it would be good if there were a few more zeds around brisbane so the spontaneous drives could get more people to attend and therefore occur more regularly. Alot of the events that greg has been emailing through look great aswell but jsut trying to fit them in is trouble for me. i will have to block out my calendar for the headlight workshop though. My yellow beast already has the headlight conversion but my daily driver and my project both need it done. i think the other problem for me is that most of the members in the club are into the motorsport side of things which I don't really fit into. I don't know alot about the 'preformance' side of things and probably find it harder to make conversation. I wouldn't mind trying a few of the events but i can barely afford to keep my cars on the road without the cost of track days etc. but anyways if anyone wants to go for random drive on weekends pm me and i will see if im available. maybe we could have a list of people we can pm when we have last minute decisions of 'hey im bored, lets go for a drive...' even if it is just to the sunny coast or something
  20. yeah ive gotten a few things from him before, then i noticed one day that he charged me $28 us for postage for something that only cost $8 to send. I just trusted him that the postage was right because it was a really long package and figured it must have been more because of that. He's got a few neutral feebacks beacuse of it and a couple of neg's. Its a bit sad cause he sells so much stuff but you know its gonna be cheaper to find the supplier and get it sent yourself.
  21. i am also interested if there are enough. i will pm tonight when i get home from work.
  22. oh excellent, i was going to call them 2moro to see how it was going. thanks paul
  23. Thanks for the info I'm giving his number to the body shop but if anyone else has a door let me know just in case. It is an insurance job but I'm not sure how much the shop is willing to pay. So put up on offer and you might get a bit of $ for an old door
  24. ok thanks for the info. the body shop might ship up the door from newcastle anyway. how much would you want for it? I can let them know and they can decide whether its worth it... If your interested could you pm me your phone number? I'll give it to the body shop with the price aswell. Thanks!
  25. Hi all, someone hit my daily driver a few weeks back and the body shop needs a right hand door to replace it. It's a 1974 260z 2+2 however I'm sure any 2+2 door will fit. The car is in Brisbane however I'm sure the shop has the resources to ship from you guys in the Z capital down south I'm kinda desperate cause there was some talk of writing off the car!!!! If you have a door in average to good condition please reply, pm or email shaun@shaun-maluga.com. Thanks guys
