  1. lol I am going to do a satin black bonnet also - in fact it is black already, but my flares will be 907 like the rest of the body work.
  2. Ok if you want to know the original colour for the 432R not the standard run of the mill 432(like they are that run of the mill with under 500 made) then all 20 (approx number) that were sold to the public were all painted 918 - however some might have be repainted by the owners either when new (usually for sponsors as the 432R were after all a race car) The 432R had the matt black glass bonnet (painted grey on the underside I believe) and the other differences I can go into if required but there is lots of info on the web (most of it is correct) The 432 were offered in the same colour options as the standard Fairlady Z so they were 901 = Monte Carlo Silver 905 = Daytona Red 918 = Grand Prix Orange 919 = Yellow 920 = Gold (sometimes called Safari Gold) 904 = Grand Prix White 907 = Grand Prix Green My 260z (which is also why it is getting a RB26DE = 2600cc aka 260z but 432 too ) was originally the later Metallic Green aka 240 is the paint code. But it will be the non metallic 907 GP Green ie a 432 colour option and nice and old school. I have the paint already at the panelshop I will take a look at the Japanese mag I have of the Office Tomitaku car and see if I can ID them for you.
  3. I have a book at home that list the factory 432 colours - I will check when I get home from work. So will you be installing a S20 engine too - I would love one of those, but they cost a packet that is why I am just going with a RB26DE modern take on the same theme aka GTR engine in S30 body but sticking with the old non turbo
  4. got mine from Japan too, like my RS Watanabe's, hybrid RB26DE engine and host of other stuff too And like you if the wife knew how much some of this stuff cost....well lets say it would take a few years to get out of the dog box.
  5. Ok bathroom scales say the following 225/50/16 Toyo Proxes T1R on RS Watanabe 16x8.5 -6 = 18KG 245/45/16 Toyo Proxes T1R on RS Watanabe 16x9.5 -19 = 20KG I hope this helps - sorry I don't have the car with the 16x8 +10 Rota RB-R anymore to compare (my old race car)
  6. Nissan Compe Wheel - these were an option on the JDM sports list (and back in the day if your Datsun dealer was on to it you could have ordered one from them too) Nismo did a re-run of these, maybe they will do a re-run again now we are getting close to 40 years of z cars (later this year) I also have one - and can't wait to get it on the car also. They are urethane by they way. There was a place in Japan at one point did take the stock rim, cut it down and install a smaller rim then cover in leather so it might be one of those if leather but more than likely the urethane version. Yes these were standard on the 432R.
  7. I have 16x8.5 and 16x9.5 but with tyres on - I will weigh the 16x8.5 with the 225/50/16 next time I get a chance for you.
  8. If I was to do this all over again (too much $$ spent on this and that) I would do the following. 1 purchase some of the Z31 ZR rear rotors = 282x20 with 57mm total hat 1 pair of the Hi-Spec Motorsport SVA 2 pot park brake calipers (see pic) Then just make an adaptor for the caliper mounting and then some hand brake cables to suit. Cheaper, easier in the long run and will fit under 15" rims The calipers are not cheap but then neither is a custom bracket for the DIH setup that I am working on as CNC time is not cheap when you don't have access to this your self. The advantage of the Hi-Spec calipers is a low profile so will work with the Z31 ZR rear rotor.
  9. I am working on a DIH (Drum in Hat) setup for my zed with some 2 pot calipers on the rear. The setup I am working on a very hybrid and currently only a one off. I chose the setup I am working on so it should fit under 15" rims and is a vented rotor. The issue with any kind of DIH setup for the S30 is the lack of space behind/between the axle and the housing/backing plate mounting. So very low height shoes have to be used. I have found a few setups that are workable depends on the size of the rotor you require or vented or non vented. If you want a larger setup I have solution that I can sell someone - you just need to complete the caliper mounting for your chosen calipers and the handbrake connection, but this setup is a 302mm x 22mm rotor with a 190mm internal park brake. I have another solution that I need to complete that could also work with some new shoes that I have just found out about (ie 6-8mm lower than the first trial) this setup will fit under 15" rims and is vented too. I just need to work to calm down so I can spend some more time in the shed and complete these solution
  10. Maybe you should ask BenZed of Otomoto if he can get them from his contacts in Japan - he can get other stuff from Japan so maybe RS Watanabes would not be too big of an ask and this might also add to his already good selection of parts he currently supplies to zed community. They might not the same but the RB-R in 16x8 are a good fit and look on the zed and offer a lower $$ for the purchase price. So I think if someone was to supply both rims this will cater for the budget minded and those that what the period correct rims from the period vendor/supplier And maybe we could then find out if someone can source some of the hayashi Street Fin rims (again period correct from the period manufacture)

    OER induction

And I believe they also flow more. I did not do flow tests my OER 47's when I had the car but the guy that sells them locally claims the OER 45 vs Weber 45 flow 14% more. I know they worked very well on my 3.2
  12. There is one of sale here in NZ currently - so if money was no object then yes I forgot about this model too so that would have to be on the list for sure. here is a link to the one for sale http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Specialist-cars/Competition-cars/auction-204788032.htm
  13. Well - the Datsun I have owned I would have kept and I would have added the following PS30 - Fairlady 432z PS30-SB Fairlady 432zr HS30-H real Fairlady 240zg KPGC10 Hakosuka GTR 180B sss 610 KPB210 aka Sunny Excellent Coupe (a factory 120y coupe but with a L14 in the engine bay - maybe repowered with a L20b CSP311 So basically the same as most (and I have been lucky to have owned some already on the list 160jsss coupe KP710)
  14. Well you see the 5spd dog leg 56a (I think that is model number) go for £500 and I purchased on locally in NZ for $500 then took it to the UK when I was going there on business for my friend who owns a number Datsuns (and who was a zed owner in the past) so it was way way cheaper for him than getting one locally in the UK. I hope the clears up that part of the story - in the other luggage bag was a set of 1200 ovalport twin SU for the same guy and some spare 160Jsss aka 710 rear quarter glass for another Datsun Fan in the UK. Just as well as the trip include a leg to the US that have 32Kg per item of luggage and not the normal of 32Kg total
  15. The L6 is around 170KG and the RB around 200KG but I can't recall if this is loaded or not (it is because I am load just back from the pub ) The box of a A15 5 speed is 25KG I know this as I took one to UK with me as Luggage once so that is 25x2.2lb = 55lb and I believe the zed box is around the 70lb mark = 70/2.2 = 31KG and the RB box with the larger gears would come in a little more so I would guess around the 35KG mark does this help....now were is the beer again, the Rugby will start soon - better get my A in G.

    por 15

Well having blasted my zed back in 2001/2002 xmas/new years then covering it in a good 2 pac epoxy primer that same day I can say it has been sitting this condition for over 8 years now and it is still the same ie not rust etc and I can tell you that 7/8 years is long enough for it to be in primer so the top coat has now been purchased and I hope to have this on the body paint and complete in the next few months. So I say as others have stated get a good epoxy primer and let loose - my panelbeater will not let me use POR-15 on my zed.

    por 15

Panelbeaters/car painters usually don't like recommend POR 15. I think it is due to the following reasons. 1. Thick = hard on good paint guns 2. Thick = hard to get off for repairs I would ask around and get more feedback the panelbeaters/car painters I know say don't use it.
  18. I recently watched a TopGear episode where Captain Slow visit Finland and Mika Hackien drives a cosworth merc in the snow. Anyway the point is this. Finland has produced more F1 and Rally drivers per capita than anyother nation? Why? Well Mika believe it is due to the driving eduction in Finland. All drivers have to be able to demonstrate car control not just driving but car control to pass the driving test. So how does one learn car control a skid pan of cause. I guess it is a matter of survival of the fittest really hell if you pass the test = you have some level and understanding of what can and will go wrong on black ice (a lot of that in Finland) with only 4 small little black pads on the road. Then due the road conditions the week will just fall off the road anyway = they will not be on the road anymore but down a cold bank, stuck in the forest, or in a frozen lake. And I bet their "gubmint" does not pay for the whole or any of the skid pan training. PS IMHO you can stick your nanny state, lefty, liberal "we are all equal crap too" you need winners and you need losers. Just get over it some people will fail and stop bringing the rest of us down to the loser level. PSS as someone that has been riding motorbikes on the roads as long as I have been driving I would also say that everyone should learn to ride before they drive as you then know how dangerous the roads and other road users can be/are. You have greater understanding of what little tyre is on the road on a bike as in the wet you know about it and you watch car drivers go past and you know full well it is only the car and tyre technology that is keeping them safe and on the road and not their skills as if and when it does go wrong they make a mess of themselves but worse other road users too. As stated driving is a privilege not a right.
  19. I would say very light - we weight a standard bonnet at 17KG and a fibreglass unit at 3.5KG so I assume a CF will be a little less so maybe 3.4KG = big saving there I guess that is why Nissan put the FG on the 432-R from the factory.
  20. Well we are talking about Falcoons and Scumodoors are we not ;D so I guess there would be a lot of pushing and sh#% and there might be a hill or too. or would that be pulling from the sh#% drivers cause they have both hands on it while driving their hotted up taxis
  21. They would still be driven but by unlicensed drivers who don't give a sh!T about the rules....hang on isn't that the problem now?
  22. Mate I lived in Melbourne for 2 year and all I can say is Oz drivers are better than the idiots we have on the road over here.
  23. Not the same Mike but another one here in NZ - I sell him parts, he sells me parts - and we both move parts to other zed owners members - go the Mike's
  24. Must be that my FF has a number of security add-ons and maybe that is causing the issues so my own fault but I like to have things secure and IE is not.
