  1. Good stuff Dave With regards to helping out the younger members, just make sure you won't be 'used' & that your not biteing off more than you can chew...
  2. HAHAHAHA! Sounds like a typical AusZcar event!
  3. Report. REPORT!!! Someone post up how it went, PLEASE!?
  4. Cheers for that NZeder - that gave me the answer I wanted
  5. I should retract my comment Everyone has their own taste & that’s fine. Faux' wood in a 70's Jap sports car has never sat well with me personally. Real wood should be left in cars like Jags, Rollers & Bentley’s
  6. You 'can' swap a SR bell-housing onto a Zed box with a couple of small mods to the BH. I really wouldn't bother though - SR boxes are plentiful & cheap enough. Tuck your current manual box away after the conversion or sell it to fund the SR conversion. FWIW, the early 240Z box is called a 71A (has the output flange at the back of the box). Late model 240Z & 260Z is called a 71B box, And the R31 skyline, R32 GTST Skyline & S13 boxes are all called 71C's. They are all just evolutions of the same box.
  7. Edited. Have you looked into what SAAS sells?
  8. ZOMG Holy Tread resurrection Batman! Why are you bringing up an old post when stevo_gj' has bought a different Zed?
  9. Higher the number = lower the ratio. A 3.54 is a 'tall' ratio which will give a higher top speed for given revs. A 4.4 is a 'short' or 'low' ratio which will give you faster acceleration for given revs. Though I'm guessing you already knew that?
  10. If that's all the rust you have, you’re REALLY lucky!!! And the difference between the RPM conrods and the Carrillo's is like night & day. Also CARR rod bolts are THE best in the world. FWIW the STD Zed rods are capable of supporting around 160hp EACH. Makes you wonder if aftermarket rods are really needed...
  11. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - but your right Gav, it's a little to OTT for me as well.
  12. I would hazard a guess that the mesh is simply 'flat rolled diamond experment'. It won't be hard to source...
  13. Gav, that Zed got posted up on datsun1200.com a couple of years ago buy a member saying 'I found this Zed on the net, what does everyone think?'. Couple of other people said they didn't like it for whatever reason, then the owner posted up abusing & threatening anyone who made a comment... Be damned if I can find the thread though If it 'has' changed hands then good luck to the new owner - it looks like it's had some seriously misguided coin spent on it.
  14. Yes, & the origanal owner/builder is/was a complete tard...
  15. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats just made my night! Top stuff Ben, top stuff!
  16. As a Boilie myself, that would be piss easy to make. Just make the frame to the size & shape you want, and then get some light mesh from a steel supplier. You'd have it made for under $100 too - there’s no way I'd buy one for over $250!!!
  17. Guys, This is a MUST READ topic for ANYONE interested in selecting a performance camshaft for their L series engine. Baz from Datsport was kindly given permission to reprint this on his website for all us fortune people! It does go through the basics at first, but I found it refreshing to re-read it all again. I suggest you only read it a few chapters at a time to let the info sink in... Enjoy http://www.datsport.com/racer-brown.html
  18. Welcome Vinny. Could you please fill in your location in your profile - makes it easier for us all. Good luck on the resto's
  19. Man... now I know what I missed out on Quan & Gordo were there - amazing!
  20. Can you please fill in your Location. It makes it much easier for us to awnser your question. 'ZZZ8' & a couple of others may be able to help you. BTW, have you ever been to Rio?
  21. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1861.0.html 3rd post down
  22. Ahh, well thats fair enough. I suppose fitting you two into Mayhem's Zed for a lift, wasn't an option either...
  23. Oi, that's stolen info, Dimitri! (that I stole from someone else...)
