i am looking at buying energy suspension as well from the states, although mine is a 260z 2+2 good to hear you had no problems fitting it all, does it come with instructions? I am not really suspension savvy but would certainly give it a go fiiting it all. Does it include a diff mount bush? This is what I am looking at:-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ENERGY-SUSPENSION-HYPERFLEX-BUSHING-KIT-280Z-74-78-BLK-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZModelQ3a260Q5AQ7cSubmodelQ3a2Q2b2QQhashZitem2eb466d869QQitemZ200595134569QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Lynton

Positive: look good, supposedly better airo-dynamics, saves cleaning bugs out of the headlights, they mount flush with body panels. Negative: water gets in and you need to remove covers to clean the headlight buckets and the perspex can crack easily when screwing back on so use tiny rubber washers between perspex, screw and bracket. Screw holes hold moisture so rust can occur around hole drilled. They can fog up inside. If you sit or lean heavily on them they crack. Rubber gasket flimsy and can break. Chrome Japanese headlight covers have thicker perspex and a under frame foam rubber gasket seal and mount over the top of the buckets just like a lid on top. I have headlight covers but I wouldn't have them again by personal choice. Lynton

If you are going to the airport frequently you are way better to be northside of the river, to avoid tolls. Brisbane city basically sits on the north side of the river, convenience is 5 km of the city, outer is 15km - 25km traffic can be a nightmare. I drive to North Brisbane every day from the Sunny Coast it takes 50mins and then anything from another 30-45mins into the heart of the city. Older areas do have some shedding or large under house garaging it just depends what you are after. Wear and tear on the car needs to be budgeted I do 800kms per week. Depending on where you work the Sunshine Coast has an airport provided there are flights to where you want to go? Otherwise living close to inner Brisbane is the answer. Lynton

I agree with 620Z it would cost way more than he is asking in schmick condition plus a V8 to boot ready and waiting, definetly a project worth taking over? Lynton

Funny how the worm turns, I pulled my S15 and 260Z 2+2 away from LSV as they phoned me after 10 years of having both cars insured with them and said they would not continue to insure my S15. I have had no accidents or any claims on either vehicle for the duration. When I said I will take the 260Z away from them as well they then decided they would insure my car (S15) but the premium was not even near competitive. I then re-insured both cars with Shannons much cheaper premium for the S15 and I insured the 260Z 2+2 for $15K I did send them pics though. Lynton

Those door trims are a bit difficult to repair by plastic welding and being beige the UV kills their longevity, if you get the opportunity try and pick up some excellent black trims and color vinyl paint match back to beige. Other than that Rev supplies trims on this forum. Lynton

Yes I agree with the other guys in this current Oz market definetly a $25K - $30K, Zed car. After all that work you have done if your not in a hurry and/or need the money I think I would sit on it for another 12 months then review your situation you will never replace it and it will only value up+ over time. Manual or Auto? Lynton

The standard wheels and hub caps existed on the Zeds until 1975 and in 1976 the Nissan mags were supplied standard. Funnily enough the Áunger jelly bean Mags' were very popular on Zeds in the 70's but there wasn't much variety back then although there were a couple of Aussie after market wheels available and MiniLites that was about it. I put these mags on mine in 1975.(see Pic) Lynton

You don't think the oil pressure switch is dodgee, after all they are pretty old and they get caked with gludgy black oil and fowl up 30years of driving, maybe the pressure switch is not sensitive to what is really happening giving faulty reading other then when engine is in full motoring. Lynton

Boyblunda, why I say the 240Z is the only option for a 2 seater classic over a 260Z is because it was designed and marketed as a raw classic sports car in the first place. No pollution equipment, proper twin SU's, a hand throttle, wood rimmed steering wheel and IRS and plenty of after market boyz gear to add on. By the time the 260Z 2 seater coupe arrived it ended up with different compression ratio, silky smooth but spongy engine that ran out of puff and was not responsive to aggressive throttle movement, flat top Hitachies, carbon cannister, boring safety black soft grip steering wheel and horn button, better bigger wheels and tyres, better ventilation and in my opinion a nicer and smoother tail light finish and the option of factory air-conditioning in the later 260Z 2 seater Coupes, these cars were now most suitable for the office exec's and their wives to drive the braun had been left behind. Not to say of course this can't be changed but it is the way it was. Lynton

Oh dear.........and I Quote:- "less desirable" 2+2. Of course that has to be a matter of opinion? I have owned many datsuns and nissan sports cars over many years of which I can honestly say neither are less desirable than the other, be it a 2 seater or a 2+2. When purchasing a 260Z new, there were very few 2 seaters sold in Australia compared to the obviously user friendly, very ever popular 2+2....... so less desirable........... I don't think so? Look at the number of 240Z's for sale on carsales at the moment 10 and all 2 seaters no other badge choice. Look at the number of 260Z's for sale on carsales at the moment 11 made up of 2 two seaters, 9 2+2's, both models in numbers available for sale are as rare and desirable as each other, the 2 seater 260Z even rarer, alternatively a person purchasing a 260z makes the decision on what suits their perspective when buying. (dollars, style, restoration etc) Both cars look awsome as racing or works cars neither is better than the other IMO, purely how one looks and perceives the portrait in front of them. But if you want a 2 seater option then the only decision for a thoroughbred classic is a 240Z.......end of story. Lynton

Fairlady Roadster - A moment of weakness...
Lynton replied to gav240z's topic in General Discussions
Gav I have owned both a 1966, 1600 sports and a 1969, 2000 sports, both had hard tops. I always felt the 1600 sports was user friendly and an easy OHV engine to work with plus a 3 main bearing motor and silver grey dashboard and chromium accessories nice exhaust note with a nice bark, some had heaters and radios fitted as standard and some didn't. They changed the 1600 sports to 5 main bearing in 67 and dashboard was matt black and and accessories went to a frosted silver, it lost the nice exhaust note and bark with it. They both ride very hard the 1600 gets axle tramp the 2000 sports doesn't it has a torque rod tie down. The 2000 is a performance car in comparison and has weak syncros on 2nd gear. The 1600sports is city friendly and good fun and very reliable. The 2000 sports can have rattley timing chains and occasionally can drop a valve, goes like stink, have better seating. both have weak panels easily dented with elbows. The 1600 had better engineering fabrication of parts than the 2000 sports which was more mass produced with not the same under bonnet fabrication to detail but the twin Solex carburettors standard in Australia on the 2000 sports were awesome and the car was supplied with ram tubes for club sport enthusiasts. Watch out for rust in both front guards especially where drivers mirror was originally positioned, in the boot under spare wheel and rubber matt and bottom of wells of rear guards and usual places like under carpets. The 1600/2000 sports came standard with fog lamps but they disappeared on some later 1970 models. Both have rear leaf springs that look horizontal and the cars suspension shake your kidney's out of you. Lynton -
