  1. To me one is like being the sculptor and producing the visionary outcome and having the passion that others encompass and enjoy, dream of or wish they could produce, a work of art. The other is like going along to an art auction and buying a beautiful painting to hang on the wall that you personally love and will forever enjoy and keep and show amongst your friends. Each to their own and the cost is an individual choice one makes and enjoys in their life, the outcomes are individual persona choices. Lynton
  2. Another 240Z coming up at Shannons May Auction Melbourne http://www.shannons.com.au/pages/auctions/lot.jsp?id=G6IC56C53DWJA4MF Lynton
  3. A Z31 or a Z32 dash maybe a pretty close fit? Lynton
  4. Zanzee01, I know you have had S30's before but 280ZX's are soooooo user friendly!! Are you sure you are doing the right thing? I reckon you should get back in a 240/260 again for a while and use it how you currently use your 280 before you sell it, you maybe a bit dissapointed although the S30's looks are really spunky. I actually saw you both I presume in the car on the Bruce Highway, trailer on tow with some cane furniture on board it sure looks a spiffy clean machine, possibly almost irreplaceable. I was in my yellow S15 and turned off at Anzac avenue. My only comment is don't sell yourself short as the 280zx without doubt will rebound and will almost certainly be in short supply in the not to distant future. Good luck!! there has to be some enthusiast out there for a grand old lady. Lynton
  5. Don't forget I am in Qld a slightly warmer ambient temperature, so, natural or semi synthetic - Fuchs or Penrite gear oil 75/80 for the G/Box. And a 20/50 Penrite or Fuchs for the engine. you can go 10 weight heavier for an older worn engine. Lynton
  6. I can't remember on the 2 seater 260Z but I did have a problem on my 2+2 that the aftermarket fuel electric fuel pump I put on I had to mount lower for a better gravity feed situation to get the pump to get push fuel through to the carbies. I got a feeling they have a mechanical pump can't remember? Lynton
  7. umm! keep away from castrol in Nissans even though they are Nissan recommended!! from a dear friend of mine who has spent nearly all his life as a motor mechanic on Nissan/Datsuns and Nissan 4WD's. The Castrol oil breaks down way to quickly, I am told. Lynton
  8. I was recommended to use Nulon or Redline gearbox slip additive oil by Nissan as I complained that I felt the S15 box was a little notchy especially between 1st & 2nd when I first purchased the car, not a clean cut razor sharp change as you would expect!! I have done well over 200,000kms on both clutch and gearbox and still don't have any further issues. I guess it is a game of suck and see, the Nulon will take a few kms to settle in and lubricate the box properly. Lynton
  9. Steve, Nulon is an alternative & maybe even better? I use it in my S15. Are the selectors grinding on the inside of the box? Lynton
  10. Steve try some Redline slip oil gearbox additive and also see if pressing the clutch twice before changing up into 2nd gear takes away the problem? Lynton
  11. Datpilot I also have an S15 they are a much sweeter car but it all comes back to your budget$$$$ Lynton
  12. Datpilot don't buy one unless it is an absolutly top mechanical car otherwise you need to own a bank! Lynton Just my 2 cents worth.
  13. http://www.zcarclubq.org.au/ Look under classifieds a really good project car Lynton
  14. People are asset rich and cash flow poor............Lynton
  15. Gee could be difficult to get those sort of numbers for Nissan Silvia Coupe Csp311, Prince Skyline GTA/GTB, Datsun Coupe 240K's and Roadster Fairlady's just as an example, they in my opinion still have a right to be classed and judged regardless of numbers IMO Lynton
  16. I love the look of that 2+2, was that the one at the Goulburn Nationals a few years ago? I seem to remember a name.... Toby? ..........a spectacular vehicle if it is the one I recall. A few pics of that 2+2 car would be very interesting to view just from an interest point of view. Lynton Good luck with the sale of VitaminC
  17. 260Z's shouldn't get fumes into the interior of the car. However the rear hatch rubber seal (if deteriorated) is the most common area of suction of fumes back inside of the car. If the car has been rear ended panel line up maybe an issue as is the tail light rubbers seals. Also check that the spare wheel well for the rubber drainer rubber plug is in place. If you have an exhaust leak at the manifold or start of exhaust and the rubber seal at the gearbox boot has a hole in it fumes will creep through there as well. The exhaust pipe chrome tip can be turned down to face the road may also assist. Lynton
  18. Simon I get the feeling you haven't taken the Zed quite far enough into the next stage to absorb your complete satisfaction, passion and performance in owning a classic Zed, thus your parting with the car....may I say so prematurely!! You are changing cars midstream, you will be dissappointed? By the way your color combo of your car is fabulous I can remember them in awe like that when they were new in 1977 not many about like that. I honestly think the 2+2 is a sleeper and will probably come back and bite you :'( Lynton
  19. On my 260Z it was 5/8 one end and 3/4 the other. I ended up getting a Ford heater hose with exactly those required measurements but mine was an L26. Lynton
  20. I would expect last minute bidding on that mirror, even with a dent on it, polished up and mounted on the car would still look a treat 8)Lynton
  21. Nup not the same but a good substitute while waiting and hunting for an original! Lynton
  22. Can you buy 280zx two seater turbo? Lynton
  23. Advertising was directed to fighter jets flying over the top of a 280zx on the runway and the interior like a pilots cockpit!! lynton
  24. Yay, a man with a vision, quite like those 60's Corvettes especially the model with the split rear window!! I also kinda like the Daimler SP250 Dart and the infamous E types, ahh too old now!! Lynton
  25. Shaun what is planned with all those 2+2's in your household? Lynton
