looking at the past locations since 1991 I think its seems to go QLD, NSW, VIC so my guess is it will go back to QLD.

Hi Guys, Matt, I did'nt see you around the track? I got quite a few pics but need to sift through them and post the more inteeresting ones. Great location for the event. I've just walked in the door about 30min ago, will post pics soon. Steff that old Skyline replica was a really nice restoration, I'm sure you'll see heaps more photos of it over the coming days. I;m pretty sure there will be a list of lap times posted on the NDSOC web site soon.

Finally done! You can see in the close up pic where the tyre was rubbing whilst driving with the guards rubbing on bumps, ate into the tyre a bit. The fella that did the job was excellent. He used a TIG welder so heat build up was minimal from my understanding. The black stuff shown in the pics is some sicaflex over the welds to get me throught the Nationals and keep the water off. I dropped the car off at lunch time and it was ready by next morning. He also gave me back the trimmed guards to store away just in case one day...! :wink: Must by a MIG and start practicing "one of these days!"

I used the existing holes in the grill support barcket.

Well I'm glad to say I have my car back with the rear arches done and what a great job it is. The cut out sections are also in good nick should I ever want to put them back on. Evan thanks for the heads up finding this guy and great price too. Now I believe there are a few people meeting at Cranbourne McDonalds on the corner of Camms Rd and Sth Gippsland Hwy at 11:30amish tommorrow morning, (and I believe some at Hungry Jacks down the road), (Friday 6th April 07) . This would be as good a place as any seeing it's on the way up. Melway Ref: page 133 K2. See you there if anybody wants to drive up together!!! The earliest car is the 240z as pictured below... Then after 73 til 77 I think the 260z was released, major diff is rear lights and interior bits, oh and biggr motor from a 2.4L to a 2.6L but with the addition of poor performance carbs with alot of pollution gear attached. The 260z was sold as a 2 seater and 2+2. The 2 seater 260z... and the 2+2...the 2+2 are identical from the front screen pillars forward inc the dash so parts are interchangable. As Lynton said the 2+2 are getting harder to find but if you can find one with a lot of rear end rust for a cheap price you can use the front end on a 2 seater. I've owned all three models at some point inc 2 2+2 models. When I bought my 2 seater I was able to find a 2+2 with rusted out floors & unregestered but drivable for $100.00 I used the front end ie guards and bonnet and the dash also since it had no cracks in the 2+2, and later soold the remains. Don't expect those sort of bargains but you can find good deals if your patient.

Well I suppose any car that can be bought for less than 3K is pretty cheap. That goes for the many old wreck 240's on the market that have rusted through badly. These cars are still prett cheap in general compared to alot of 30 year old classics out there. Your right in that 2+2 are getting harder to find but it's just a fact that there were a lot more 2+2's sold in Australia than the 2 seaters. I'm not sure of the exact figues but it would be about ten to one from memory. Those facts alone make it easier to find one for a cheaper price and I think thats what makes a 2 seater 260 an easier car to restore for young blokes with limited cash. If you buy a 240z then it becomes harder to source parts because items such as door panels, dash, center console etc are different between a 260 2 seater and 240. If the fella is looking for a 2+2 then I think he's in luck because there's more on the market.

Hi mate and welcome, mechanicals are cheap and parts easy to come by as 2+2 models are cheap and comparatively plentiful so if your looking for a four seater you'll find some good deals. Look for rust in floors, floor rails, battery tray area, firewall, under the hatch and around hinges. People say the rails are the hardest to fix whilst you can buy floor pans new for 145 ea side. There's lots of info on this site and the yank sites on rust and how severe it can get. 5K and some patients should find you an OK base to start with. You'll prolly find that the bulk of cars that come up for sale end up being cut and pasted into the forum classifieds on this site so check the adds here every couple of days. I know a few people looking for Z's atm and the good deals generally get snapped up in a couple of days so you gotta be quick when they come up. Cheers Sulio

I'm dropping my car off tommorrow at lunch time. I need to talk to the fella and make sure he gets them done by Thursday night. I am hoping to drive down to the Island on the Friday morning. I did'nt want to post anything official til I know that I'm in for sure Fri morning and not arvo! In the mean time any body is welcome to post soem quick options re getting together for a cruise to PI. I'll go with whatever the majority decides just did'nt want to take over seeing I might be running late. Our plan was to have a meeting place for the Friday morning drive up. So how many interested parties for the drive up on Friday morning?

So who's driving up in their Z on the Friday? I'm dropping my car off Tuesday night to have some work done, hoping to have it ready Thursday night and ready to go Friday.

hehe- Too much saturation! I reckon Z's have nice lines and all thats needed is a nice set of wheels and drop it a couple of inches and thats enough. For me it was only after a couple of years of it looking the same that I wanted something a little different and then decided on flares and bigger wheels. If I did'nt do that I probably would have got bored with it and sold it. Those new Canon SLR's take nice pics, thanks for sharing George.

just put a chain over it like many others have...I put my new diff mount on years ago and then the chain which goes through a rubber hose never had to think about it since. Did you pick your wheels up mate?

I think Georges car has an eight in it from memory. That is a beautiful Z. Nice pics, I thought I'd brighten up the last one.

Yer I used to own a kart with an Aprila motor in it. Great fun, especially under lights at night after a couple of those funny cigarettes! :wink: Chew through tyres though and it does add up a bit. Why don't you just get your Z to a decent level in terms of body work seeing you've got the new wheels coming this week and then hook all your money into the kart! then?
