  1. What day did you have in mind? Sat or Sun? King Lake is always a good test but you might want to stay near Metro if it's the cars first time on the road just in case? Sulio
  2. It looks like it's squinting
  3. you might like this: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=8SmelhOoS1g
  4. oh yes I see Modular, yer I don't think 160HP is too unrealistic from what I've read but another thing that starting to look clearer is stock L28 cam might actually peak at about 5000rpm so my current set up might well be limited by the cam but as i said will push on next week. EDIT: after reading the post below I think my figure of 160 at the wheels is unrealistic with the current motor set up. 140 would be more realistic. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=92888&highlight=l28+curve Sulio
  5. Well I'm not sure if 160rwhp is being unrealistic based on the current set up, L28 with elec dizzy, headers and 40mm tripples but that why I'm posting this thread. As far as the AFR meter goes I bought an LSM-11 aftermarket Bosch O2 sensor and waiting for gauge from Jaycar: http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/wbo2/5300.htm Sulio
  6. Hi Alan, My plan is to rebuild this engine when my house extension/garage is finished and this is the reason I have been holding out re dyno tuning. As a result I have been learning alot on how the car is running re the carbs I've installed and continue to do so. The AFM reader I'll install next week will also be part of that learning curve. Once I finish the rebuild yes then it will be a good idea to have it properly tuned but even then it will only be once I've thoroughly given it my all as far as research and my own adjustments go. Only at that point will it be very interesting to get it on a rolling road and tune it. In the mean time it would be a good idea to have a dyno day for some of the Z guys here. I'm just waiting on Ash to get me some numbers on price based on numbers attending but that another thread that is currently active on this forum. It would be nice to get 160HP at the wheels with current set up, I really need to jump in a Z thats doing about 200HP at the wheels to get some benchmark feeling. Sulio EDIT: Alan, did you get the dyno sheet since your rebuild? I did your informative thread re your rebuild, it sounds like you got exactly what you wanted re your cam selection, will be looking at same supplier when that time comes.
  7. There was a limited edition run by a member here but all the original moulds are long gone and he's definately not making any more. The steel ones are very pricey, but you might be able to find some repros OS somewhere depending on how badly you want them. Sulio
  8. My plan is to go to a mild cam at a later stage. An increase and shift in the power curve by 500 or 1000 rpm would still be ok as it drives very good down low at the moment which works pretty good with stock ratios and 280 box. I won't do anything further re jetting until I get some AFR figures hopefully this weekend but I reckon my main jet will most likely be a little undersized so if thats the case maybe I'll be able to squeeze a little bit more out at the top. Sulio
  9. ah well this is where I'm at, might be due to the cam re the peak power. Will keep tinkering. Thanks Again, Sulio
  10. One of the better season 10 episodes that will be start on this Monday on SBS at 7:30pm. I'v watched it before on You Tube and really enjoyed but it will be good to see it on a bigger screen. You can see the good parts here if you have'nt already watched it and can't wait: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=02HRYxn2a0g Sulio
  11. thats a pretty comprehensive list of CF S30 parts. hmmm...that rear tail light set would look awsome, suttle nice, drool. Sulio
  12. oh might have to take that whelsh plug out, hmmm...can't remember who advised to just plug it up but will have a another look at it when I get back. Sulio
  13. Thanks guys. Demitri I meant more in terms of power limit in respect to revs as I'm getting good power all the way through until hits 5000 where the engine will rev but no more significant power gains. I've got pretty small (130) main jets so I think going bigger main jets (145) will get me that more power to the 6000rpm ish range. Anyhow just wanted to see what a stocky will do on SU's as I can't recall what it was like on the SU's? I'm hoping to have my AFR gauge sorted and O2 sensor installed this weekend to check on mixtures through out entire rev range and make sure I don't over jet it in my quest for more power! Sulio
  14. I hope that sheet helps, ah "Dellorto King"!? maybe Mick74 but certainly not me but they sure are great fun hey! Just to explain to anybody reading this post and scratching their heads, I had a few beers with Scoota the other night at a pool joint as i was in Ballarat and as we were leaving we saw a bloke take out a give way sign and blow a tyre on a round about. We earned some karma browny points getting him going again as he looked like he was in a bit of shock. hmmm...are'nt we nice people, remind myself of that Scienfeld episode with the Pakistani restaurant. Sulio
  15. Hi Guys, Yer I was actually hoping to drop by during the course of this week as I'm in the North West of Vic up to Mildura this week. It's turning into a long week so I might put it off til the weekend or at some point later if that's ok with you Chris re holding on to those parts!? Will talk to you on the phone at some point tommorrow. Scoaus did you get a copy of the Tas DVD I left for you with Craig? Sulio
  16. Michael, Data sheet for the LSM-11 we were discussing, (just in case others are inetersted it is to be coupled to AFR gauge to give real time AFR readings and help tuning carbs, pretty accurate way to know how they are running under load and fine tune adjsutmets if necassary). SUlio 2762_.pdf
  17. Has anybody got some dyno figures on a standard L28 with stock cam. I'm just curious at what rpm the power drop off at? Please feel free to comment just based on driving your L28 and were it feels as though is the upper limit of producing any more power? Sulio
  18. No I have'nt read anything about it but it just seems like a practical solution and of course getting public transport working properly is also a bit of a no brainer when you consider the 8 billion or so the Vic government is looking at spending on tunnels and building and wideneing roads. Instead of dredging the bay opening up more shipping in say the Geelong area and freight it down rather than use trucks in the CBD area. Laverton and the west near the bridge is the area of most Melb industry any way so the frieght trains would get a pretty good run. Anyhow I'm steearing away from the topic now. Those vids above are pretty interesting re the engnie pull down and performance of the 85% blend. So is it readily available in Aust in the concentration? Sulio
  19. I put a whelsh plug in it, can't remember if it was 25, 26 or 27mm but I bought all three sizes rather than going back and fourth. At the time I did get an explanation on why it is not required but can't remember atm. Dimitri might be able to chime in here! Sulio
  20. Lurch did you try the WAZCARS register? Sulio
  21. I'd match that DHLA G emmision carb up to the other two for starters. These are the two e-bay sellers I use for parts. The QLD supplier, (RECARB), is a carb shop, pretty well priced and quick. The Italian fella is very good to deal with but obviously shipping can be slower. I've only used EUROCARB once, they are expensive but they do have the parts that are hard to find, (ie I managed to find 5 x 7772.6 emmulsion tubes locally and resorted to getting the 6th one from them). http://stores.ebay.com/ALFA1750S-CARBURETORS-PARTS-STORE http://stores.ebay.com.au/RECARB-carburettors http://stores.ebay.com/Eurocarb-Ltd-Dellorto-Weber-Carbs Sulio In regards to the G carb (emmision type), you need to match up fixed air bleed to the IDLE JET HOLER (AIR BLEED) on the other two carbs. Refer to info I gathered below for correct size. The ones I have are all 0.9mm size.
  22. I run my L28 at 12 deg idle. No pinging through entire rev range. Sulio
  23. What size idle jets and pump jets are you runnning? It might be the cause of your hesitation. Also need to make sure that batterflies are correctly positioned because if they are letting too much fuel to be pulled through from the main jets it might explain why it hesitates down low. You need to be drawing fuel from the idle circuit at idle and when they open have the pumps jets give a squirt and then mains kick in howevere if your already drawing offf the mains it could be an issue. Mick74 is well versed and can probably correct anything I might have got wrong but this is one thing I would check before further tuning. Can you give us a complete break down of all components you are using? ie choke size, mains, idles, emmulsion tubes, air correctors etc etc? Sulio
  24. Get your bikes out fellas. Seeing everyone is getting prophetic, I reckon the end game will be it will be too expensive for some of us to drive a car to work. Public transport is becoming relied on whether you like it or not and it's happening now as alot of young families just can't afford running two cars anymore. Just wait til we go over $2.00 a liter as prices are already in some parts of remote Northern Australia as I heard on ABC national radio today. I've heard the same issues NZeder mentioned regarding large scale crops grown as fuel sources, it's not a total solution as a huge number of people on this planet would starve. Electric cars need power, what do you use? dirty coal to twist the knife further as far as emmisions go or maybe Nuclear whether it be from local power stations to drive your elec car or futurisitc little nuclear engines like those subs that go for years??? Either way it's gonna be expensive to drive your Z, it's just a matter of how expensive and how quickly. Personally I reckon a good idea woud be to decentralise cities so that there is less of a reliance on cars. For instance there is a huge amount of people that get in their cars and drive to the Metro Melbourne every day. If there was more focus on spreading out say corporate offices then the option might be to walk to work or jump on a bike as apposed to drive 20 or 30 km as many do. The other option might be to take out half the world population, but maybe nature will do that for us if you believe what they say these days!? I think I'll fit my Z out to that Flinstones style, just cut the floor out and your off! Just think instead of sneaking a peak under the hood you'll be looking at how big peoples calves are! Sulio Oh BTW Steff they do address the question of corrosion on that website:
  25. When I bought my 260 it had cruise control, (I think it was an old aftermarket unit), it was set up to feed back speed via the drive shaft from a magentic pic up. Controller was in the car on the center console with servo motor in the engine bay hooked up to the linkage bar for throttle control. I ripped it out as soon as I got the car home as I found the whole mess of wiring horrible to look at. Sulio
